Mysskin runs around with Nandalala
Director Mysskin has been running from pillar to post to commence his film Nandalala. The movie was supposed to be produced by AM Rathinam featuring his son Ravikrishna in the lead role. Due to the heavy losses suffered in his recent movies, Rathinam chose to back out from the project. Mysskin was optimistic of finding another producer. Director Saran came forward to produce the film. However, he was not impressed with the story narrated by Mysskin and reportedly considered changing the story and hero. 'Satyam' running the race alone?
Will 'Satyam' run the race alone? This is the question doing the rounds in Kollywood now. Normally a host of movies hit the screens on 15 August (Independence Day) every year. However this time around , it is said that a slew of movies have backed out of the race at the last moment since Rajinikanth's 'Kuselan' had released just a week ago and also because Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' is still doing good business at the box office. The likes of 'Jayam' Ravi's 'Dhaam Dhoom' and 'Sakkarakatti' have pulled out leaving Vishal's 'Satyam' to run the race alone. 'Satyam' starring Vishal and Nayantara is directed by debutant Rajasekar and has Harris Jeyaraj's musical score. Filmed with a huge budget, the movie has been produced by Vishal's brother Vikram Krishna and is simultaneously getting released on 15 August in Telugu as 'Salute'. Expected to be an action-packed venture, the movie features Vishal, Nayantara, Kannada actor Upendra among others in lead role. Vishal plays a tough cop for the first time.
'Subramaniapuram' runs 100 days
Sasikumar's debut venture 'Subramaniapuram' has successfully completed 100 days of screening all over Tamilnadu. Sculpted in ace director's Bala and Ameer's workshop, Sasikumar has managed a laudable coup with his very first endeavor. The movie set in the backdrop of Madurai city in the 80's was made with meticulous efforts, to bring out the apt feel of the era. Firstly, the credit for this success goes in entirety to the director for bringing out a movie with taut storyline sans the run-of-the-mill commercial aspects. Even though lacking in star value, the captivating narration accompanied with realistic portrayal of the characters was warmly graced by the audience which yet again proved that a considerable patronage is still being rendered by the spectators for talent and not popularity. Starring Jai of 'Chennai-28' fame, the director himself enacted the prominent role in the movie. Actress Swathi made her debut in to the Tamil industry, who earlier played the sister in the Telugu version of 'Yaradi Nee Mohini'. Alongside the leads, the movie featured 'Ganja' Karuppu in a noteworthy role. Comparer turned music director James Vasanth made his foray and his 'Kangal Irandal' is the most widely hummed song of the recent times. Posing a brilliant background score along with the songs, the songster is expected to make it big in his upcoming endeavors. Another pivotal element of the movie is the excellent camera work cranked by Kathir. A scoop is, during the onset of the movie, it was denied to be screened in many centers and was allotted a mere number of three theatres to be launched. Later, multiplexes came forward to screen the movie after realizing it's successful endeavor. The makers of 'Subramaniapuram' had arranged a celebration, for the completion of 100 days of screening tomorrow.
