As revealed in the audio launch function of Chiyaan VIkram's latest super hit 'Iru Mugan', the National award winning actor and director Hari will be teaming up after a gap of 12 years for the sequel of their 2003 blockbuster 'Saamy'. The sequel will be produced by Shibu Thameens, who produced 'Iru Mugan' and has tasted stupendous success. Nowadays many directors go for thematic sequels without having to care about the continuation of the story. However 'Saamy 2' will not be so if one has to trust what Shibu said in the Success Meet of 'Iru Mugan' held on Wednesday (September 14). Shibu said " 'Saamy 2' will be a proper sequel with the continuation of the story". It is also revealed that the sequel film will start with the climax of 'Saamy' where the lead character takes a dip in the river after killing the main villain Perumal Pichai in Tirunelveli. Harris Jayaraj who rendered the musical score for 'Saamy' as well as 'Iru Mugan' will be retained to give hit numbers for 'Saamy 2'. The other cast and crew members are being finalized. The film is expected to go on floors in early 2017.

Samy vows to make amends
Thanks to decent opening for Uyir, debutant director Samy is brimming with joy. But at the same time he said his next movie would be a clean entertainer unlike his maiden venture which was about a woman's lust for her husband's brother. Starring Sangeetha, Srikanth and Samvritha, Uyir has managed to draw decent crowd. Says Samy, every director would crave for recognition in his maiden venture. Uyir gave me an identity. However a section of audience felt the theme was immoral. I would assure them that I would make amends in my next film'. 'Though I tried to convey a strong message that suicides are no solutions to all problems through Uyir, it has been overshadowed by its theme,' Samy says and adds, 'I am keen to come up with a different stuff in my next outing'. However he singled out Sangeetha and Srikanth for the performance in the film that has made it a success.
Samy misbehaved with me: Padmapriya
Hurling a series of charges against film director Samy, actress Padmapriya said that he had tried to misbehave with her and when she resisted his attempts, he physically assaulted her in the sets of the movie 'Mirugam'. Padmapriya is acting in the lead role in 'Mirugam', directed by Samy. The climax scene of the movie was shot in Madurai Friday. During the shooting, the director had reportedly slapped the actress for not getting the emotions right before the camera. The actress immediately walked out of the sets. Addressing media persons in Chennai Saturday, Padmapriya denied press reports that she did not act well as a result of which she was slapped by the director. In an angry tone, the actress said, 'The director behaved like a psycho in the sets. Even after shooting hours, he was giving me trouble and tried to misbehave'. She said, 'Samy had called the sets to pack up last evening and insisted that I stay back to shoot a few more scenes. When I questioned his motive, in a fit of rage, he started slapping me in front of everyone. Unable to tolerate the humiliation, I walked out of the sets'. On the director's charge that she could not emote well before the camera, Padmapriya said, ' I have acted in 20 films in various languages and won 13 awards for my acting skills.' Padmapriya has lodged complaints with Tamil Film Producers Council and South Indian Film Artistes Association against the director.
Samy speaks on 'Mirugam'
'Mirugam' is a movie that will convey a strong message to the society, says director Samy. The movie starring Padmapriya and newcomer Adhi in the lead roles hit the headlines ever since Samy reportedly assaulted the actress on the sets for not performing well during the shooting. Following Padmapriya's complaint, Samy was banned from directing films for a year. Speaking about the film on the occasion of its release, Samy says, 'It is inspired by a real life incident that happened in Thiruvarur in 1970s. I came across an incident wherein a brutal youth killed his pregnant wife. I laced the story with commercial elements. Cinematography by Ramnath Shetty and Sabesh ' Murali's musical score has given life to the movie'. Samy further adds, 'Adhi's dedication towards the role deserves a mention. He toned up his physique, increased and reduced his weight according to the demands of the script.' He has some positive comments on Padmapriya as well. 'Equally appealing was Padmapriya. She has a strong role to play with in the script and has done her part well.' However, Samy adds that if Padmapriya had extended full co-operation, they would have completed the shooting long back. 'Anyway her character has come good and she would draw appreciation from masses after its release', says Samy.
Samy fights against the ban
"Mirugam" may not have met with commercial success as expected but it has fetched accolades to the director, hero and the heroine of the film. Director Samy, who made the achievement possible, is seriously trying to lift the one year ban against him to direct films. He has approached Producers' Council President Rama Narayanan and sought his help in this regard. The urgency in his efforts to get cleared of the ban is caused by his successful discussion for a new film featuring Rajkiran and "Mirugam" Aathi. He has even got a producer. The producers of Jeeva ' Bhavana starrer "Rameswaram" have accepted to produce Samy's next. Though young Aathi will be the hero, it is the seasoned performer Rajkiran who will be the main stay of the film. Hence, Sami did not bother to accept the unexpected amount demanded by the actor as his salary. No one else could handle the role, says the director. One wonders what kind of role that could be. Tail: Samy had the idea of giving the title for his film as "Ayyanar". Since the title has already been booked by Vijay, the director of Ajith starrer "Kireedom", he was not able to register the title. He requested Vijay to give him the title but the later refused to oblige. Now Samy is searching for an alternative title.
