'Saawan' - A film about a man who can see tomorrow!
Now when one reads such an introduction about a movie, the references that come to mind are last year's 'Nazar' & 'Naina' along with around a decade old '100 Days'. Common factor in each of the three flicks was that basically they were all thrillers with a dash of horror. Also, the main protagonist in the films had the power to see the future, mostly centered on unfortunate incidents. But, 'Saawan - The Love Season' is different because though the crux of the plot remains same, the execution and overall theme is completely different. Instead of presenting the film as a horror show, producer/director Saawan Kumar has made 'Saawan' as a love story with some ingredients of thrills and drama, but no horror. So all you film buffs, don't worry about catching any scares and go watch the film that has Salman Khan at his towering best!
Now Saawan Kumar insists Salman is his hero
Last fortnight saw a lot of dust raised when Harry Baweja and Sunny Deol were on the two sides of a pole when it came to the status of 'actual hero' of the film 'Teesri Aankh - The Hidden Camera'. With the release of the film today, things may have come out crystal clear about the actual status but another interesting round of statements happening in the industry today is about Salman Khan's appearance in 'Saawan - The Love Season'. But hold on before you think that there is any controversy here because there isn't any! In fact here producer-director Saawan Kumar gets complete support from Salman Khan when he clarifies that Salman's role did start off as a special appearance but so excited was he about the script that he gave more days for an extended shoot. This should now end all speculation of Salman's appearance and 'hero status' in the film that also stars Kapil Jhaveri in the lead.
Watch out for Salman's 'qawalli' in 'Saawan'
What started off a small movie has suddenly started becoming bigger and better with superstar Salman Khan's presence in the film. We are talking about Saawan Kumar's 'Saawan - The Love Season' that has Salman Khan in en extended appearance and is hogging away all the limelight as far as the movie's publicity is concerned. The movie is further in news due to a 7 minute qawalli number that has been picturised on Salman. Composed by Aadesh Srivastava, this 'qawalli' is said to be an added attraction in the film that is bound to bring along the crowds in Salman's strength area - the B and the C centers! Watch out for this 'qawalli' that would be premiered on the small screen soon!
Sawan gets censor board nod
By Manissha Despaande, Mumbai: Sawan Kumar's "Saaawan - The Love Season", which has Salman Khan in the lead, has been awarded a 'U' certificate without any cuts. According to Sawan, the examining committee members that viewed the film March 30, liked the film immensely and immediately gave it a go-ahead. "They commented that they had not seen such a cleanly made film with similar intensity - minus any show of vulgarity - for a long time. They also liked Salman's performance in it," he said. Apart from a few films, all his films have been awarded 'U' certificates, Sawan added. The film is being released April 6 with 400 prints globally, with over 100 prints in Mumbai alone. He said exhibitors were eagerly looking forward to the film's release as all Salman-starrers get a great opening.
SAAWARIYA advance booking is a surprise
If a highly placed official at one of the biggest multiplex chains across the country is to be believed, SAAWARIYA advance booking has been nothing short of a pleasant surprise. He says on the condition of anonymity, "Even if OM SHANTI OM opens at 100%, no one would be surprised. Everyone is pretty much prepared to face such a situation due to the Shahrukh Khan factor combined with immense buzz and hype." "What has surprised me though is the way audience seems to be making queues for SAAWARIYA advance booking", he adds, "Expect for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, on the face value one can't add much to the hype. Ok, so Ranbir and Sonam are there but in the end they are still newcomers. This is why it is refreshing to see that audience are willing to give the film a dekko even as they are all going for OM SHANTI OM."
