He is playing the role of Rani Mukerji's husband in Babul.
Salman-John-Malaika walk the ramp at Lakme Fashion week
Bollywood and fashion have more often than not gone hand in hand. Gone are the days when the models were looked down upon as they tried to make their entry into Bollywood. In fact today the thin line between the world of modeling and acting has more or less diminished as both continue to compliment each other. Tuesday was one such day when it witnessed a starry kick start to Lakme Fashion week with number of big shot Bollywood personalities turning up for the event. Some of the designers whose work was on display were the usual suspects Manish Malhotra and Rocky S along with newcomer Surily Goyal amongst many others. Some of the celebrities who also chose to walk on the ramp than just sit amongst the audiences were superstar Salman Khan and heartthrob John Abraham. While John Abraham looked every bit his deadly mix of cute'n'dashing best in a black three piece attire, the real applause came in with the entry of Salman Khan. Dressed in a bright red shirt with a brown jacket and trousers in tow, his personality towered above everyone else near the stage as he walked the ramp confidently while wearing glares. His bald plate with a little dash of hair gave him a distinct touch as he had Maliaka Arora Khan and yesteryears' leading lady Neelam in tow. Walking the ramp for new entrant in fashion world, Surily Goyal, he was cheered along by his 'Jaaneman' team of Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta, who had come with their partners Twinkle Khanna and Ness Wadia respectively. Prolific Bollywood personality Karan Johar too accompanied the team while Amrita Arora, younger sister of Maliaka, too came all dressed up to lend her sis some support. So involved was Salman in his stint on the ramp that he didn't forget to acknowledge the presence of Akshay and Preity as he did a small jig in front of them while approaching the audience's seating area. Some other celebrities who attended the show were cricketer Md. Azharuddin accompanied by his still-glamorous wife Sangeeta Bijlani.
Salman gets 5 year RI in poaching case
Bollywood actor Salman Khan was today sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and sent to Central Jail Jodhpur by a local court in connection with the Chinkara poaching case. Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain also imposed Rs 25,000 fine on Salman, who was taken into custody and sent to the jail. The court ordered one year rigorous imprisonment for co-accused Govardhan Singh and imposed Rs 5000 fine. Four other persons were acquitted in the 1998 case when a chinkara was killed by Salman at Ghora farmhouse. Last week on April 7, the CJM rejected Salman's application for summoning a witness Harish Dulani who was missing from court appearances for many years. Dulani was said to be the main witness in the poaching case, and reportedly retracted his earlier statement that he had seen Salman killing the animal. Salman faces four poaching cases and the same court had awarded one-year jail term and Rs 5000 as fine to the actor on February 17 for hunting two black bucks on September 26-27, 1998 in Bhavad village of Mathania region.
Salman rescues IIFA
The last minute 'boycott' imposed by Shahrukh Khan camp on this year's IIFA Awards in Dubai from June 14 ' 17. As was reported earlier Shahrukh's growing 'differences' with Bachchans is the primary reason for this decision. Wizcraft, the event management firm managing IIFA in a desperate effort yesterday made a request to 'Jaaneman' Producer Sajid Nadiadwala to let the star cast of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta perform at the awards. Although, Nadiadwala had blocked the dates of the stars from June 10th, he accepted the plea. So, the humungous Indian Diaspora in Dubai shall now have a sumptuous eye candy in the red hot trio of Salman, Akshay and Preity in place of Shahrukh, Kareena and Priyanka. Apparently Ritesh Sishwani, the producer of Don had the dates of Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor and somehow he didn't want to let it go for the event. Shahrukh Khan isn't required for this shoot but still he would be away to London for some 'personal' reasons. Wizcraft has also clarified that Karan Johar will be very much a part of IIFA as he is releasing the music of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna during the course of IIFA Weekend. It remains to be seen what excuse Farah Khan has for not attending the Dubai Dhamaal considering the entire cast of her husband Shirish Kunder's 'Jaaneman' will be present there. Maybe Shahrukh should learn something from Salman in terms of professionalism. For even though Salman isn't pleased with Abhishek's amorous accounts shared with Aishwarya Rai, he is still willing to shake a leg at the event. Only for Big B!
Salman fails to bend like Beckham
Bekham, Rooney and Rosicky have spoiled the Bollywood party in UK. With the onset of high adrenaline FIFA World Cup in Germany, the organizers of the Wembley leg of Rockstars Concert had to cancel the last show due to paucity of ticket sales. After attaining reasonable success in several cities in US, the show in Birmingham didn't live up to the hype either. With stars like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Esha Deol and Zayed Khan, the shows were expected to be chartbusters. But the UK leg didn't live up to the expectations. Right from the beginning, the Rockstars tour (In USA, Canada and UK) had been infested with troubles. Shows in Calgary and Orlando were cancelled due to no clear reason. In the Birmingham show, the arena capacity was 18000 but only 2000 people were present. While for the London show only 300 tickets were sold so the organizers decided to cancel it. Another version doing the rounds is the issue of non-payment to artistes. Artistes are sometimes paid in bulk for four to five shows at a time or individually paid before every show. If they are not paid before the show as per the agreement, they have the right to refuse to perform. The Rockstars shows have been organized by the Morani brothers, Sohail Khan and Bunty Walia. All of them were unavailable for comment. According to a news channel, Salman Khan is being paid a huge sum of Rs 15 crore for the entire package.
Salman-John at War
The infamous 'Rockstars' concert featuring Salman Khan, Mallika Sherawat, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham, Zayed Khan and Esha Deol may have come to an abrupt halt after the last show at Wembley in London had to be called off but the controversies surrounding the altercations between the stars continues to ignite curiosity in the Bollywood circles. The latest buzz doing the rounds is that the differences that arose between Salman Khan and John Abraham have led to Khan deciding to opt out of Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam-e-ishq' and Ravi Chopra's 'Babul. Reportedly, during the shows, John didn't like the comments of Salman in the press that after himself, Mallika is the biggest draw of the shows. Moreover, when Salman asked all the stars to give a part of their earnings to choreographers Bosco-Ceaser, John didn't want to be a part of the group as self-admittedly he was a newcomer and couldn't afford to be too generous with his 'hard earned money'. If the reports of Salman backing out of the two films is true then the producers of both the movies will suffer a big setback. Especially Ravi Chopra, whose film has anyways been delayed because of Amitabh Bachchan's ill-health. MusicMazaa is the first to bring you this scoop.
