Salute on Independence day

Vishal plays a cop for the first time in the movie 'Salute' and Nayantara plays the role of a daring TV journalist. Rajashekar, the director of the film says, 'the story is fast-paced but the violence element will not be to a disturbing scale'. Extravagant stunt sequences have been filmed and a car chase sequence has been canned at an airport in Dubai. Apart from Nayantara giving good company to Vishal, she'd also feature with a group of naughty children who keep pulling her leg and vice versa. 'Salute' is produced by Vishal's brother Vikram Krishan under his banner G. K. Film Corporation. Harris Jayaraj has scored music and a new company has bagged the audio rights. The film will be released on August 15.

'Salute' earmarks 2.5 Crore for Publicity

Vishal's first straight Telugu movie 'Salute' has been earmarked Rs 2.5 Crore for publicity at out door. The home production for Vishal is made with total budget of Rs 20 Crore as GK films are well known for their huge spendings on production and promotion. This depicts the confidence level of the producers since this all time spending for publicity coming after Dil Raju's cunning calculation boosted that. Dil Raju know for his prowess in judging the success rate of a movie, has reportedly purchased the distribution rights for Nizam and Vizag. The Nizam rights are acquired for Rs.4 Crores. Strengthened with the buying GK Films decided to release the venture in the Vijayawada City. Since the audio created a favorable response it is expected that the film will be block buster for Vishal.

'Salute' visits the butcher

In a bid to get the film 'Salute' racy, dawdling scenes have reportedly been chopped off from the film. Much was expected from the Vishal starrer 'Salute' but unfortunately the expectation has been hampered because of some run-of-the-mill stuff. In view of this sources say that the movie has been trimmed to sustain momentum in the script following responses from the audience. Over 25 minutes of the films including a song, comedy and stunt sequence have been reportedly chopped off from the movie. Hopes are that the crisper version would attract audiences. According to Vishal, 'everyone said that the second half was very lengthy. So we decided to chop some sequences to make it crisper'. 'Salute', starring Vishal, Nayantara and Upendra in lead roles also has Brahmanandham and Senthil in the cast. The film has been produced by G K Films Corporation and directed by Rajasekhar. Music is by Harris Jeyaraj.

I salute the people of Mumbai, says Aishwarya

'Evil will never get the better of good,' says Aishwarya Rai reacting to the dastardly bomb blasts in Mumbai. The light eyed actress is shooting for Mani Rathnam's 'Guru' in Chennai when the dreaded incident took place. 'It's very sad. I wish whoever has done it would understand the gravity of the situation and what they have done. But I salute the people of Mumbai for their strength, compassion, courage and sensitivity,' she adds with vehemence. Aishwarya Rai has always been associated with humanitarian deeds and has willingly contributed to the various tragedies that have struck the country. Like Ash, superstar Aamir Khan was not in town when the tragedy struck. He was in Satara with wife Kiran. According to him, he doesn't wish to move on with life. 'I don't want to move on. I want the guilty to be brought to light and punished for good. This just can't go on like this,' he said. He urged people to contribute heartily to the chief minister's fund. And will he be making some donations as well? 'Surely, but I don't wish to make it public,' is all he has to say. It seems Bollywood is not all about candy floss and glycerin tears. Here's looking forward to an even more active participation from the celluloid stars to help the needy and the affected.
