Nata Samrat The best-ever performer in the world

It is not just one or two. He played hero in over 254 films as hero and gave a new definition to the word performance / acting through his indomitable and inimitable performance. He is none other than Nata Samrat, Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao. He was born in a poor farmers' family and studied up to Class V only. However, he became a hero and heartthrob to lakhs of Telugu-speaking people by playing in films for over 66 years. He left an indelible impression in the hearts of Telugu audiences who fondly call him as a mobile encyclopaedia for acting and also a dictionary for performance. In fact, he is an ocean of performance. His debut film hit the screen in 1944. Right from that date till the Sriramadasu which was released in 2007, he played different roles and it is not an exaggeration that there is no role which he left untouched. He worked with three generations of artistes and is ready to act with the fourth generation if time and industry permits. He is an acting soldier. Like some elderly man commented, 'Nageswara Rao is a born artiste!' The right example for his performance capabilities is 'Devadas', a Bengali novel scripted by Sarat, which took shape on celluloid under the direction of Vedantam Raghavaiah, in which Nageswara Rao played the title role and with Savitri playing the female lead. After that, 'Devadas' was remade for 14 times in various languages. While Saigal played as Devadas in Hindi once, Dilip Kumar played the role again in Hindi. Sivaji Ganeshan portrayed the role in Tamil. All those heroes are great performers in their respective languages. But they personally admitted that they were not able to reach the performance capabilities of Akkineni Nageswara Rao. When someone raises the topic of 'Devadas', it would be Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who would be remembered for ages. They also confessed that they were not able to do justice at least for 25 per cent of what was done by Akkineni Nageswara Rao. This amply proves his ability to perform on the celluloid. Though several artistes played the role earlier, and those who are going to play the role in future, can't reach Akkineni's performance. Not just 'Devadas', Akkineni's performance as a jinxed lover in 'Laila Majnu' along with Bhanumati is unmemorable. His performance as a devotee in 'Vipranarayana, Bhakta Jayadeva, Bhaka Tukaram, Mahakavi Kshetrayya' mesmerised the audiences. But ANR is basically an atheist and is a non-believer. But he strongly believe that duty is god and work is worship. Akkineni's performance in 'Budhimantudu' in two roles which had two different shades as a drunkard younger brother and a devotional elder brother. It was Nageswara Rao who started a new trend in Telugu films. Earlier, heroes used to stand aside when the heroines performance dances during songs. But it was Akkineni who started dancing along with the heroines. When compared to all his contemporary heroes, Akkineni is the shortest hero. For that matter, even the heroines who played opposite him were also a little longer than him. However, Nageswara Rao did not allow the audiences to notice the difference in the height with his impeccable performance. The Telugu audiences fondly call him as 'tragedy king'. It was Akkineni who could wet the eyes of audiences and make them cry, with himself not shedding even a single drop of water from his eye. With a whisky glass in one hand and a cigarette on his lips, the audiences might strongly believe that he is a drunkard and a chain smoker. But, in real life, Akkineni doesn't have any kind of habit. It is not an exaggeration to say that no other artiste had so many melodies when compared to Akkineni. Almost all the films are musical hits. Leave alone the social dramas, his performance as an innocent shepherd in 'Mahakavi Kalidasu' and also as a litterateur after the presence of Kalika Mata is extraordinary. The variation shown by him between the two roles is never before or never after and is like a textbook for the present day heroes. His comedy timing in 'Missamma' while learning music lessons from Savitri is also quite memorable. Many of his films including 'Tenali Ramakrishna, Ardhangi, Baatasari, Sudigundalu, Maro Prapancham, Navaratrulu, Dasara Bullodu, Prema Nagar, Premabhishekam, Mugamanasulu' remained classics. To explain in detail about his acting capabilities and about films, one had to write a series of books and it could not be accommodated in just an essay. Akkineni Nageswara Rao had a perfect knowledge over the 24 crafts of the film industry. Despite perfect grip over the film industry, he did never venture into direction, but continued his journey to serve the film industry as an artiste, producer and as a studio owner. He used to say that he knows what politics is and hence he is not entering into it. He started a college on his name as ANR College in Gudivada and is extending education to several poor students. In fact, he remained an inspiration for people like Mohanbabu to start educational institutions like 'Sri Vidya Mandir'. This great artiste is celebrating his birthday on September 20. On the occasion of his birthday, musicmazaa.com wishes him a very happy birthday.

Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam take a quick break?

By break we don't mean that the two have split. Though there were reports that Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat had parted ways, the two are, in fact, still going strong. News of them dating each other has been doing the rounds ever since the actor separated from his wife Shweta Rohira . Sources tell us that Yami, who is currently shooting for 'Kaabil', had a few days off from work. So, she reportedly whisked Pulkit away for the weekend, away from the hustle-bustle of the city and the paparazzi's prying eyes. On Sunday afternoon, a few photographers spotted them at the domestic airport. A source told BT that while Pulkit made a hurried exit and managed to dodge the shutterbugs, Yami left from a different gate. Speculations were rife that the duo was returning after the shoot of their forthcoming movie 'Junooniyat'. But it turns out that the film was wrapped up a long time ago.

Pulkit Samrat: I've become infamous for falling in love

Actor Pulkit Samrat says he has now become "infamous" for falling in love too many times. The actor, who will be seen romancing Yami Gautam in upcoming film 'Junooniyat', quipped that he has fallen in love many times. When asked if he has ever been in love, Pulkit told reporters, "Love may fall kar kar kay badnaam ho chuka hun (I have become infamous for falling in love so many times." The 'Fukrey' star was speaking at the trailer launch of the film. The Vivek Agnihotri-directed romantic-drama brings back the pairing of Pulkit and Yami after their recent hit, 'Sanam Re'. There are rumours that Pulkit and Yami are seeing each other. The 'Vicky Donor' actress at the launch said she relates with her character in the film, who is a Punjabi and is keen to see how the audience reacts to it. "I relate with her Punjabi-ness. She is a local Amritsari girl... I am really looking forward to the response because nobody has seen me like that before. I can totally relate to the character through this perspective." Agnihotri, whose film 'Buddha in a traffic jam' released recently, said he had to shoot in extreme conditions in places like Kashmir, Shimla with lots of logistical problem. Pulkit said the cast and crew got great help from the Army during the shoot. "We got a lot of support from the army. It was very difficult to get permission and shoot at the places we shot at. The army helped us a lot, provided us with a lot of stuff to keep us warm. Most of the locations that you see where the army base is set up in the movie, they are all real locations." 'Junooniyat' is scheduled to release on June 24.

Pulkit Samrat: Huge compliment that people love Yami and my pairing

Rather than getting bothered by is link-up rumours with Yami Gautam, actor Pulkit Samrat says such stories only prove the popularity of their on-screen chemistry. The two have been rumoured to be seeing each other since they began shooting together for "Sanam Re". Pulkit says he and Yami are "way beyond" the stories written about their apparent off-screen romance. "It's been nice that people have been loving the pairing. I haven't seen such a response to any pairing for a long time. It feels very nice. It is a huge compliment for the hard work that we have put in. We really appreciate that. I am very happy," the actor told PTI in an interview. "Gossip or rumour about personal life does not bother me. If people are saying whatever they are saying, I take it as a compliment for the on-screen chemistry that we share. That means people like our work. Had people not liked our chemistry, they wouldn't have said anything about us. I don't care about the rumours. We are way beyond that." Pulkit and Yami have re-teamed for another love story, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri's "Junooniyat" and the most of the buzz around the movie is courtesy their much talked-about equation. The actor says people might feel that he and Yami decided to be a part of the film after working on "Sanam Re" but it was "Junooniyat" which the pair had signed first. "'Junooniyat' was the first film that we signed. 'Sanam Re' happened later and we both did not know that the other person is doing 'Sanam Re'. We started shooting for 'Junooniyat' before 'Sanam Re' and after 10-15 days we were on the sets of 'Sanam Re'. We shot the two films simultaneously." "Junooniyat" follows the romance between an Army officer, Jahaan Bakshi (Pulkit), and a simple yet strong-headed girl, Suhaani Kapoor, played by Yami. Pulkit, the fact that "Junooniyat" is a love story of two similar people sets it apart from other romantic films. "A highlight of the story for me was that it is love between two very similar people. Normally, we see the story of two opposites falling in love but that's not the case here. I found that interesting. A love story definitely demands a great on-screen chemistry between its actors but according to Pulkit chemistry not only depends on the performing artists, but the whole crew which works to get each romantic scene right. "Definitely, the most important part of a love story is the chemistry between the two actors because a love story is about a guy and a girl meeting and falling in love. You don't see love coming across if the chemistry is not there. "But the chemistry is also not only about the two people playing the characters. It is also about how well they are written and performed and that happens only when the entire team is in sync."

Why is Pulkit Samrat upset with Yami Gautam?

There have been many speculations about Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam's relationship. Both actors have denied seeing each other and recent report suggests that all is not well between them. It was said that Pulkit was upset about Yami shooting an intimate scene with her co-star Hrithik Roshan. However the real reason is said to be the actress not spending enough time with her alleged beau. A source says, "This film has kept Yami so busy that she hardly been able to spend time with Pulkit. Even when there is free time, Yami decides to stay on sets and focus on her work more this has made Pulkit upset. She feels it is an important opportunity for her and doesn't want to compromise on her work." Now is it part publicity stunt for their film or what that is yet to be cleared

Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat's 'Junooniyat' in Gurgaon

Kangana Ranaut just let out a secret. The actress recently confessed at an event that she suffers from ophiophobia — a phobia of snakes. Kangs gets the heebie-jeebies when she sees the creepy crawlies. The star was not too keen to divulge her phobia as people may take advantage of it. She also stated that now that she has spoken about her fear, some people are likely to play a prank on her!
