More news →'Sandwich' piggy banks on 'No Entry'
Long time back Govinda, Raveena Tandon and Mahima Chaudhary completed a film called 'Hum Do Hamaara Ek'. The film never saw the light of the day inspite of an extended promotional splurge and the buzz died down as the months progressed. Now the film has been revived and is soon to be released with a new title - SANDWICH. The tagline of the film is 'DOUBLE TROUBLE' as 'Sandwich' promises a treat for all Govinda fans. But still one may ask what's so special about the film as number of stuck movies of Govinda have finally got released after a long wait in the past? Well, the film is directed by none other than Anees Bazmee, the same man who delivered the biggest hit of 2005, 'No Entry'. With Bazmee's name associated with the film, Sandwich is fast gearing up for release. Smart strategy of getting the film highlighted is applied by first showing a clipping of 'No Entry' following which some of the key comic scenes of Sandwich are shown. Overall the message is conveyed loud and clear - "The film comes from ANEES BAZMEE"! One hopes that this publicity mechanism works and gets the film its deserving audience!
KANK sandwiched between RGV's Factory products?
Is Ram Gopal Verma trying to sandwich KANK with his 'Factory' products? One look at the latest release schedule and this seems pretty apparent. Till just a week back there was no news of any new film by RGV arriving in near future but some latest developments have thrown in a surprise. As Karan Johar's KANK releases on August 11, there are two films by RGV that come on a week before and after KANK. First to come would be Chakravarty directed comedy 'Darwaza Bandh Rakho' that was originally slated for a July 28 release (along with Omkara). The release date has now been pushed to August 4. A fortnight later sees a hurried release of Mohit Ahlawat's second launch pad 'Shiva', now directed by RGV, which would be releasing on August 18 i.e. a week after KANK. Expect fireworks galore in a month from now!
Nani sandwiching between Sr Heroes
Hero Nani actually wanted to release his fourth film as well this year but that didn't worked. And he pushed release of "Nenu Local" to February as biggies are occupying January 2017. While Nani is aiming at first week release of Nenu Local in February, here comes the competition to him. In January last week, actually Venky wants his "Guru" to hit cinemas. And on February 10th we have Om Namo Venkatesaya set for a release. All these days Nani has got some secluded releases dates and now that competition is flooding from both ends, we have to see how he will prove at box office.
Annes Bazmee's 'SANDWICH' gets ready for release
Long before 'No Entry' hit the screens, Aneez Bazmee's 'Hum Do Hamaara Ek' was supposed to be released. This comic family film was a Smita Thackeray production and starred the 'then-reigning-comedy-king' Govinda along with his hit partner Raveena Tandon along with Mahima Chaudhary. With usual suspect Johney Lever in tow, the film had all in it that was required for it to be yet another comic laughaton. The film was ready for release around a couple of years back but certain issues cropped up at the final moment that withheld it from arriving at the screens. Now around an year after NO ENTRY became a BIG HIT, the film has been revived with a new title SANDWICH and the promotion has kick started yet again for its release. At the time when comedies are ruling the roost and audience are waiting for their COMEDY HERO NO. 1 to strike back, SANDWICH could just be an ideal dish they could be looking for!
Govinda set to rock again in 'Sandwich'
Once upon a time there was an actor called Govinda whose mere name was good enough to pull crowds into the theatres. The king of comedy had theatres across the nation waiting for his films to get released, be it A, B or a C center! Then came multiplexes, a few bad choices of films, some sheer bad luck and an inclination towards politics that spelt disaster for his Bollywood career. People still laughed with him but his films were not funny anymore. Old releases kept piling up and when they eventually released, they happened in an arbitrary manner. But now fortunes are bound to change for him as he has a great set of films lined up in coming one year. Apart from his fresh stock of films, he also has a release pending in the form of 'Sandwich' [earlier titled 'Hum Do Hamara Ek'] and if reports are to be believed, he is all set to rock again starting with this film. Though 'Sandwich' has been lying in the cans for around 2-3 years now, this film about double trouble with Raveena Tandon and Mahima Chaudhary is directed by none other than Anees Bazmee who gave Bollywood the biggest HIT of 2005 - NO ENTRY. Going by the feelers of Sandwich, the film brings back the nostalgia of the Govinda of 90s who turned everything that he touched into gold. All set for release in a few weeks time, what one expects from Sandwich now is a reasonably good publicity, especially in the times when the first week's business is the sole decision factor about a film's fortunes. With last year and a half being simply great for comedy films, it won't be surprising if Govinda kick starts his comeback with the success of 'Sandwich' itself!
