The film had garnered much acclaims and rave reviews for being a thought-provoking film among our contemporary cinema. And now this Paresh Rawal-Om Puri starrer ‘Road To Sangam’ has added one more feather to it's already well-decorated cap. The film is reported to have won the award of ‘Best Narrative Feature Film’ at Macon Film Festival, Georgia. The film is produced under the banner of Shethia Audio Video P. Ltd. and it is produced by Amit Chheda and written and directed by Amit Rai. The film also stars Javed Shaikh, Pawan Malhotra, Swati Chitnis, Masood Akhtar, G. P. Singh, Rajan Bhise, Sudhir Nema, Rakesh Srivastava, Yusuf Hussain, Vijay Mishra and others. Presented by Shashikant Chheda, the film has lyrics by late Allama Iqbal and Sudhir Nema, music by Sandesh Shandilya, Vijay Mishra and Nitin-Prem. ‘Road To Sangam’ had already won six awards, including ‘Best First Film of a Director’ award at International Films Festival of South Africa, the ‘Best Feature Film Award’ at the Radar Hamburg Film Festival in Germany, and the ‘Audience Choice Award for Best Film’ in MAMI at Mumbai.
Nadigar sangam - Peak hours
With just a week left for elections for the Nadigar sangam, the campaigning has reached a peak. With Sarath Kumar already elected unopposed as the president of the Sangam, elections would be held on 30 July for the posts of general secretary, treasurer and the committee members. Veteran actor Radharavi and noted villain Mansoor Ali Khan are pitted against each other for the general secretary post. Meanwhile, former president Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar have urged members to elect Radharavi, while Mansoor Ali Khan too is leaving no stone unturned to get himself elected. Stating the polls for Nadigar Sangam has taken political color, Mansoor Ali Khan on Monday urged for the presence of police personnel to ensure a free and fair polls on 30 July. It may be recalled that elections for Tamil Film Producers Council was held recently.
Nadigar Sangam - High-energy action
In less than 24 hours, Nadigar Sangam would go to polls to elect its new team of office-bearers. Hectic campaigning is on by those contesting the elections. With Vijayakanth opting out of the polls, Sarath Kumar filed his nominations for the president of the sangam with the support of Vijayakanth himself. With no one contesting against him, Sarath Kumar has been elected unopposed as the president. Meanwhile elections will be on 30 July at the Nadigar Sangam premises to elect the representatives for general secretary, treasurer and executive committee members. The likes of Mansoor Ali Khan, Nallathambi and Radha Ravi in the fray. On Thursday Vijayakanth in a press release had urged members to express their solidarity with Sarath Kumar. On his part, Sarath Kumar assured that if his team gets elected, a shopping complex would be constructed besides continuing the measures initiated by Vijayakanth for the welfare of its members. Much dirty linen is washed in public by the likes of Mansoor Ali Khan who has made several charges of irregularities against Radha Ravi. The stage, as they says, is set for some high-energy action. The fans would perhaps want to see that on screen and not off it.
Nadigar Sangam goes into action mode
The emergency meeting of the South Indian Film Artistes Association will be held in Chennai on Tuesday. The meeting to be presided over by Sarath Kumar will discuss among various issues the necessary action to be taken against several actors and actresses, who did not turn up for the protest organized by Nadigar Sangam last Friday. According to sources in Nadigar Sangam, 'several of the artistes have given explanation letters for their absence. It would be discussed. Besides we are contemplating to discuss on the Karnataka filmdom's decision to ban release of Rajinikanth's films in future in the neighbouring State'. It may be recalled that the Karnataka film industry has ridiculed Rajinikanth for taking part in the protest organized by Tamil film fraternity and issued orders to boycott screening his films in Karnataka in future.
Nadigar Sangam pledges support for rally
The South Indian Film Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) on Monday pledged its support for the rally organized by various bodies of the film fraternity under the leadership of director Bharathiraja on October 19 at Rameswaram to condemn the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka. However the association had requested the authorities to shift the venue from Rameswaram to Chennai to ensure total participation of its members. At a meeting held by the Nadigar Sangam on Monday in Chennai, which was presided over by its president Sarath Kumar, it was discussed in detail about whether to be not a part of the rally or support the procession. Various speakers at the meeting deliberated in detail that the association was not consulted over staging the rally. However, it was decided finally that they have to express their sympathy for sufferings of Tamils in the neighboring Island nation. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Sarath Kumar said, "We have expressed our support for the rally about to be staged in support of the suffering Tamils. We would turn out in large numbers to bolster the procession, if it had been organized in Chennai." Actor and Mylapore MLA S Ve Shekher, Goundamani, Nepolean, producer K Rajan, Radha Ravi, Sundar C, Manobala, Prabhu, Sivakumar, Murali, Babu Ganesh, Mumtaz, Namitha, Prashanth, Manorama and Vijayakumar among others attended the meeting.
Nadigar Sangam fast gets underway
The one-day fast by the Nadigar Sangam to show their solidarity kicked off on Saturday morning with the who's who of South Indian Film Artistes Association taking part in large numbers. The fast is being held to protest against the atrocities meted out to the Sri Lankan Tamils by indiscreet bombing and lack of basic aid. A grand dais has been erected at the Nadigar Sangam premises in which actors and actresses led by Sarath Kumar have gathered. The day-long fast will not have flashy speeches or emotional overtones as Sarath Kumar had urged all members to refrain from making speeches that are against the laws of the land. Moreover he has also made it clear to the members not to hurt the sentiments of any particular religion or community. Provisions have been made to allow members of the general public to visit the place and all arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the event.
