When others are busy making horror-comedies, one Kollywood filmmaker chose to be different. He made a reel vs real ghost drama, a spoof-like feature. It's Rambala, the director of the July 7 release Dhilluku Dhuddu. With the film proving to be a big hit there (it has already grossed Rs. 12 cr), it may see a Telugu released (dubbed version) soon. There are reports that it might be remade in Hindi. Starring Santhanam in the lead role, it has Shanaya playing the female lead. Yogi Babu is in another important role. Music is by SS Thaman. Santhanam enjoys vast popularity in the Telugu States. Moreover, the genre is also current, never mind the fact that Sathyaraj's Dora has bombed at the BO. Only recently, we have seen Bicchagadu have a fantastic run at the box office. After this, Tamil film producers are once again buoyed. This could be yet another reason why the film might be released soon.

Santhanam: One more to the list
There has been never any dearth of quality comedians in Tamil films. From NSK down to recent times, Tamil films have been well served by a series of talented comedians. In recent times, Vadivelu and Vivek have been on top with their unique brand of comedy. And joining the list is Santhanam. The young comedian acquitted himself in Manmadhan. More recently, he again turned in a good show in Something Something Unakkum Enakkum. Now, he has again showed his spontaneous talent in Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. Though his character is miniscule, the young man has acquitted himself and now looks on the way to cementing his place in the industry. As a comedian, Santhanam combines the virtue of Vivek, Vadivelu and Goundamani. He has come to cinema through TV. He is a welcome and worthy addition to the long list of comedians in Tamil cinema.
Santhanam, the emerging comedian
Fast climbing to stardom is Lollu Sabha fame Santhanam. Says Santhanam, 'though I have completed over 15 films, I never got an opportunity to act with the likes of Vadivelu and Vivek. I admire Vadivelu for his voice modulation while Vivek for spreading right messages through his humor.' Santhanam says, 'people appreciate my dialogue delivery. My spontaneous humor has reached film buffs. I thank all my producers and directors for it'. His immediate priority is to do quality movies and establish a name for himself in the industry.
Santhanam, Rajinikanth & Kuselan
Joining the long list of actors forming part of Rajinikanth's 'Kuselan' is Santhanam. The comedian, who is awaiting the release of 'Arai En 305il Kadavul', in which he plays the hero, has been roped in to play the role of a production manager in the movie. A thrilled Santhanam says, 'It is a dream come true experience for me to be part of a Rajinikanth films so early in my career. Though he is a tall actor, he is very humble and polite. Understanding that I was very nervous to share the screen with him, he made me feel at ease and relaxed me'. Santhanam says, ' I relish every moment shooting with a stalwart like Rajinikanth'.
Santhanam's strategic career move
Santhanam started his career with a comedy spoof show 'Lollu Sabha' on the small screen. He graduated to play comedy roles on the big screen with the hit film 'Manmadhan'. He managed to garner a lot of attention and soon acted with all top stars including Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, and Dhanush. He is very eagerly awaiting the release of 'Kuselan' in which he shares the screen with superstar Rajinikanth. To cap them all, he played the lead role in the film 'Arai En 305il Kadavul'. He has been getting offers to play lead roles but then the smart Santhanam seems to be wary of accepting them as of now. 'I somehow feel I had played the protagonist pretty quickly in my career. I would like to cement my place in the industry and then experiment. I have no plans of playing hero in the near future,' he says.
