'Santhosh Subramaniyam' 100 days and going strong
Director 'Jayam' Raja's 'Santhosh Subramaniyam' has proved to be very successful crossing the 100-day mark comfortably. 'Santhosh Subramaniyam' stars 'Jayam' Ravi and Genelia D'Souza in lead roles. The movie has been designed as a sweet candy-floss entertainer highlighting the innocence of the female lead in an exhubarant fashion. The overt attention a loving father showers on his son, grows to irritating proportions forcing the now grown-up son to seriously 'think' about his life.. Without even a semblance of a choice in sight, the son accepts a marriage alliance for him meted out by his father. Life takes a huge turn when he meets a sweet girl and falls head over heels in love. He realizes that the girl lives life on her own terms and relishes the 'freedom' of her life. This propts our hero too to start living life on his own terms. The ensing father-son clashes make up the rest of the film. Prakash Raj as the loving father excels. The movie opened in a big way with multitudes of youngsters thronging to theaters enjoying every moment of the film. 'Jayam' Ravi's performance has been commendable but the icing on the cake is Genelia's performance. The role seemed tailor-made for the young actress. 'Santhosh Subramaniyam' has proved that good stories when presented well go on to make it big at the box office.
U certificate for Santhosh Subramaniyam
Jayam Ravi starrer 'Santhosh Subramaniyam' will go to floors this week-end. Directed by M Raja, the movie featuring Genelia opposite Jayam Ravi will be released worldwide with over 200 prints. Recently the movie was censored and it obtained the 'U' certificate for a clean entertainment. Both Ravi and Genelia are hoping a lot on the movie's fortunes at the box-office. Prakash Raj, who plays Ravi's father in the movie, has reportedly come out with an excellent performance. The movie has musical score by Devi Sri Prasad and the songs are already a hit among the masses. The bondage between a father and a son has been beautifully portrayed and that has impressed the board members very much. The movie made a brisk opening despite the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The charming performance of Genelia, Jayam Ravi's screen presence and Prakash Raj's good show has attracted audience in large numbers. Devi Sri Prasad's catchy music is already a big hit. 'Santosh Subramaniam' managed a positive review from various sections of the media and it was hailed as a feel-good movie which can be enjoyed by the audience.

The movie, a remake of Telugu hit 'Bommarillu', features Jeyam Ravi, Genelia and Prakashraj in lead roles. Former international cricketer Sadagoppan Ramesh plays a prominent role. A huge house constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh and a bus with state-of-the-art facilities bought at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, to be used in the movie are the highlights, says Raja. According to Raja, the movie would be one of the rare movies that have a love story laced with family sentiments. Devi Sri Prasad has come up with catchy musical score for the movie. Boys fame Siddharth, who had been part of Telugu hits like 'Nuvvastanantae Nenodantana' and 'Bommarillu', has sung a song. Remakes are no mere translations. It is a difficult job and one has to give his best to arrive at quality product, he adds. Kannan handles cinematography while Manoj does the editing. Plans are on to release the movie by January.
