In Cheran's 'Thavamai Thavamairudhu' and 'Em Mahan' also she enacted the roles of the leading man's mother and came out with superb performances. In the recently released Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay's 'Kurivi' she gave life to the role of a very quite sister in law. In the new film 'Thenavattu' she will be again seen in a mother's role. This role even though is a mother's character that the experienced actress has now become an expert in handling comes with a difference. She will not be seen as a polite and helpless mother who breaks down into tears so fast. Saranya will be seen as a very hard hitting and rough mother of the hero Kottasami played by Jeeva. Suicide: Saranyas call

Some of the newspapers that carried the news on Saranya's 'suicide attempt' recently received a call from Saranya herself. She has reportedly asked the concerned persons, as to how could they write this kind of rumour without knowing the truth. 'I am not in love with anybody and I have not attempted to kill myself. I was admitted to the hospital to undergo treatment for my stomach pain', was the categorical statement of the actress. Director cum actor Bhagyaraj puts forth his reasoning: 'If my daughter tried to commit suicide, I would have gone to the hospital.' No One knows how and from where such a rumour had erupted. Saranya, discharged from the Hospital, is now feeling well.
