More news →'Saroja' gets ready for release
Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by T Siva on the banner of Amma Creations with Srihari, Vaibhav, Prakashraj, SP Charan, Kajal Agarwal and Nikhita in the lead is ready for release. Speaking on the occasion, Srihari says, 'Venkat Prabhu had brought out a big hit in Tamil 'Chennai-28'. Later, he narrated me a story for 'Saroja' and I am quite surprised after listening to it. It appeared very different and excellent. I came to a conclusion that it was Venkat Prabhu who could do justice to such subject. I am very happy for getting a chance in such a different movie.' Director Venkat Prabhu says, 'The story is a mix of three different incidents that occur on the same day at different places. The story occurs at Highway. The audiences can't find the routine scenes in this film. Yuvan Shankar Raja gave mellifluous music for the movie. We are bringing out the film in Telugu as well as Tamil languages simultaneously. The audio of the Tamil version had already hit the stands last week. We are planning to release the Telugu audio in Hyderabad next week.' Producer T Siva says, 'This is the 14th movie for me in Tamil while the debut film in Telugu.'
'Saroja' gets a clean U certificate
Venkat Prabhu's second film made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu has found favor with the Censor Board and has been awarded a clean 'U Certificate'. 'Saroja' is about an extraordinary event on an ordinary day and is expected to be racy with loads of thriller elements laced with adequate comical situations. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the songs have already become chart busters. The film has an impressive star cast that includes SPB Charan, Siva, Kajal Agarwal, Premji Amaran, Vega, Prakash Raj and Jayaram. 'Saroja' will hit theaters on the 29th of August worldwide with more than 200 prints. In Chennai, the film releases in Sathyam Cinemas, Inox, Sangam, Udhayam, Anna, Mayajaal, Prarthna, Rohini and more.
Rajinikanth releases 'Saroja' Telugu audio
Venkat Prabhu's second directorial venture 'Saroja' has been shot simultaneously in Telugu as well and the music album for the Telugu version was released by superstar Rajinikanth recently at hyderabad. Music for the Tamil version was released earlier at a glittering ceremony at the Chennai Trade Center in which A. R. Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja were seen on the same dais. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music album for 'Saroja' is selling like hot cakes with its youthful and thumping style of music. Incidentally the young music composer is currently on a one man mission with the re-recording for the film. Although orchestrated music compositions featuring violins and the like have been recorded, accompanying BGMs are incorporated on a layer'basis and the work reportedly is being done only by the music director all alone, probably for precise perfection. After the audio release Venkat Prabhu had a chat with the superstar which was amalgamated with professional as well as personal talk. Rajinikanth expressed his admiration for Venkat Prabhu's wonderful handling of 'Chennai 600028' and wished the director all the best with his future projects. Rajinikanth also expressed his happiness at Venkat Prabhu's association with his daughter's production house Ocher Studios for a film which will be the director's next venture. 'Talking to the superstar has made me a very confident man and I am looking forward to bring on this confidence on my work' says an elated Venkat Prabhu'. The superstar had also spoken to Venakat Prabhu about the merits of meditation.
What makes 'Saroja' so special?
he team that made the super hit Tamil film 'Chennai 600028' is at it again making the film 'Saroja' in Tamil and Telugu languages. The film has already created lots of expectations. The director of the film Venkat Prabhu says, 'the story is about three extraordinary events that take place in an ordinary day and all of the action pertain to one day'. The director's cousin Saravanaraj has been involved with the choreography of the song sequences and the likes of 'Dhost Bada Dhost' and 'My Life' have come out in a stunning manner. For certain sequences in the film, the Buddha Statue which is located at the Hussain Sagar Lake was lighted up to stunning effects and shots have been canned from a helicopter. Director Venkat Prabhu seems to have a fascination for events that take place after sunset. Testimony to this is the fact that out of 75 days of shooting, 55 days were shot at night. Probably because the whole movie revolves around the events that take place in one day. The editors of the film Praveen KL and Srikant NB are reportedly working their hearts out and Venkat Prabhu is mighty happy with the way things are shaping. 'Praveen KL and Srikant NB are names that'll take the industry by storm in the future' opines the director. Of the one lakh and thirty thousand feet of film with which the movie has been shot, about thirteen thousand feet have been edited. The duration of the film is expected to be about 2 hours and 20 minutes. A special mention has to be made about the way the song 'Cheeky'.Cheeky' has been edited. Fast cuts in a youthful and spontaneous way has been the necessity and the editors have done a beautiful job. Yuvan who features in the song has been showcased with a new approach a la joyous Harlem jives. 'Saroja' will be a wonderful entertainer as all the elements that go into making a success has been religiously followed. The best and most effective element is of course HARD WORK. 'Saroja' will grace theaters from August 15.
Saroja Devi honored with a doctorate
Saroja Devi, who has enthralled many with her charming looks and pristine performances, was fondly called 'Abinaya Saraswathi' by many. Her sheer presence was always enough to radiate the screen. Her histrionic abilities amply complemented her charisma. This immaculate performer was honored with a doctorate by Bangalore University, on the occasion of its 42nd convocation. Governor of the State, His Excellency TN Chaturvedi, presented her with the honorary doctorate.
Saroja: the invitation tells you all
The Chennai 600028 team is back to the field. They are ready for the next match and raring to go. 'Saroja', the forthcoming film by Amma Creations, directed by Venkat Prabhu, is launched tomorrow (Dec 5) morning at Hotel Green Park, in Chennai. The invitation itself reflects the creativity and confidence of the team. The invitation is actually a table top calendar, featuring the visuals of the photo session of the movie on one side and the monthly calendar on the other side of the sheet. If the stunning visuals trigger your anticipation of the movie, the monthly calendar shows the confidence of the team. In the 13 month calendar (from Dec 2007 ' Dec 2008) some dates are marked with some remarks. You notice a colourful decoration surrounding 2007, Dec 5 with a note saying: 'Saroja Inauguration Day'. If you keep on turning the pages, you find a note in the date May 9, saying that, 'In Theaters Today'. Yes. The movie will be a summer release. Then you have the notes like '25th day', '50th day', '75th day', and '100th day' on the relevant dates. It goes on in the same pattern till December 2008 with '225th day' and '237th day' marked on the dates 19 and 31 respectively. Finally, there is a humbly note: 'This is our desire. It would definitely come true with your blessings'. The team is ready to rock. The visuals suggest you a wholesome youthful entertainer. It has glamour, humor, and action.
