Actor cum director of eminence Ramesh Aravind plays the role of 'Venkat' the cool cop in hot soup of his new venture 'Venkata in Sankata' that went on the floor at KSCA stadium on Monday morning. The earlier direction of over 100 plus films actor Ramesh Aravind, Rama Shama Bhama, Satyavan Savitri and Accident received rave reviews for the entertaining elements in it and made pretty good business to in the box office. In the role of a traffic cop whatever he attempts to get promotion falls flat and he has the family reasons to this too. Venkata has two wives and he is always moving around with Rajaram Laddu (Devadas Kappikad a famous Tulu stage artist who has staged 8000 shows from his 40 plays) promotion what he is supposed to get goes to his associate cop? The story for this hilarious film plus suspense and thrill is lent by famous story writer for films Tholapilli Madhu. Madhu has written over 190 stories to suit the films in his long career. Ramesh Aravind has three counterparts Sharmila Mandre, Meghana Mudiyan a California citizen, Anusha a model in her profession. PKH Das is the cameraman; Rickey Kej continues his journey with Ramesh Aravind after 'Accident' as music director. Balaji Manohar and Dhananjay Balaji are in the assistance direction department while Nanda writes the dialogues. Naren Magalani of Sinema House also owner of an Italian restaurant plus doing construction business is producing the film with his partners. The 22 days schedule and one month long schedule in November and December would complete the film. The film is slated for release in February 2009.
Ramesh in 'Venkta in Sankata'
The intelligent director and darling of middle class audience Ramesh Aravind fourth directorial venture 'Venkata in Sankata' starts rolling from Monday. He plays a cop in this film and directing the film for Sinema House a corporate company in Bangalore. The last film Ramesh directed was 'Accident' for Vishista Production had an average collection but received good reviews. Prior to this Ramesh's 'Rama Shama Bhama' and 'Satyavan Savitri' were very good in terms of entertainment and collection in the box office. As a cop in 'Venkata in Sankata' he faces various ups and down. He thinks of becoming a commissioner of police from an ordinary constable in the film. What happens in the process of his achievement is told in hilarious style. The chubby cheek tall build Sharmila Mandre the current sensation in Kannada cinema is playing the female lead in 'Venkata in Sankata'. Rickey Kej who scored lovely tunes in 'Accident' is working again in Ramesh Aravind film and PKH Das is the cameraman.
46 Films in fray
For the Karnataka state film awards for 2007-2008 there are 46 films in the contest. As many as 17 Kannada films in it have not been released and remake films like 'E Bandhana, Sundari Ganda Sadanda, Mr Garagara, Satyavan Savitri and hotchpotch 'Bindhaas' films are dare enough to enter the Karnataka sate awards. There is absolutely no provision for remake films in the state awards. The films censored before 31st March 2008 have also made entry to get awards. Gubbachchigalu, Chilipili Hakkigalu, Deepa, Naanu Gandhi, Ekalavya are the children film. For the state awards best hero Dr.Vishnuvardhana, Shivarajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar, Golden star Ganesh, Premkumar, Ramesh Aravind, Vijay, Chetan are key contestants. For best heroine Umasri, Daisy, Neethusri, Bhavana, Priya Hasan, Lakshmi Hegde, Shuba Punj, Bhavana, Sonu and others are in the contest. Birse and Badhuku are Tulu language films.
2007: The year that was - Part I
Another interesting and commendable year has passed for the Kannada film industry. It is interesting because the bizarre of newcomers entered the film industry. Nearly 200 films went on the floor in this year. It is a record in the history of Kannada cinema. Most of them are newcomers. Thanks to 'Mungaru Male' and 'Dhuniya'. Out of 200 films that went on the floors only 92 Kannada films got released in the year 2007 recording 20 percent of success. The winners in the box office are - Dhuniya, Arasu, Sixer, 16 to 60 (re release), Pallakki, Hudugaata, Cheluvina Chittara, Sri Dhanamma Devi, Satyavan Savitri, Manmatha, Orata I Love You, Yuga, Chanda, Shukra, Milana, Aa Dinagalu and Krishna made profits. It has been very fruitful and unforgettable year for Ganesh. The Golden Star prefix he got to his name is apt. His films 'Mungaru Male' (released on 29th December 2006) 'Cheluvina Chittara', 'Hudugaata' and 'Krishna' of 2007 made a whopping business of over 100 crores in less than one year. 'Mungaru Male' completed one year run and he became a brand ambassador. In the first quarter he has films like 'Gaalipata' and 'Aramane' set for release. All his films so far from 'Chellata' completed 100 days screening is another notable record in the career of Ganesh. He is the darling for producers. The second in the queue of popularity and making a strong ground is Vijay. Although he was in controversy his films like 'Dhuniya, Yuga, Geleya and Chanda' did tremendous business of Rs.50 crores. The power star Puneeth Rajakumar films 'Arasu and Milana' gave him the regular 100 mark and also earned roughly Rs.20 crores of rupees in the year 2007. Among the heroines Pooja Gandhi, Amoolya and Rashmi earned laurels. Directors Yogaraj Bhat, Soori and S.Narayan remained in the limelight for the terrific results of their films. It is a wonderful year for music director Mano Murthy, cameraman Krishna and Satya Hegde. It has been a debacle for all the senior actors and actresses. The similar was the situation in 2006. Dr.Vishnu's 'Mathad Mathad Mallige, Ekadanta, Kshana Kshana and his special appearance in No.73 Shanthi Nivasa' failed to click. The result of 'E Bandhana' is not yet known. Shivarajkumar films 'Gandana Mane, Santha, Thayiya Madilu failed to keep the cash registers ringing. The result of 'Lava Kusha' yet to be ascertained not only for Shivarajkumar but also for Upendra as his other films like 'Parodi, Masthi, Anatharu' bombed. The similar is the situation for Darshan, Sudeep, Dhyan, Premkumar, Vijaya Raghavendra, Murali, Ramya (except Arasu), Rakshita, Radhika, Rekha (except Hudugaata).
Dhyan and Jennifer teamed
The college mates in HR college Mumbai Dhyan (Sameer) and Jennifer Kotwal both making good name and fame today in Kannada filmdom are teamed for the first time in a triangular love story film 'O Manase' taken up by producer Vishwanath. The film muhuruth went on the floors on Thursday morning at Patel Inn club in RT Nagar, Bangalore. For me the most important is story disclosed the charming beauty Jennifer Kotwal addressing the media after the muhurut for the film. The song in the film 'Satyavan Savitri' ' Dr.Sathya'.has created a rage among the audience and they want me to accept more performance and emotion filled roles said Jennifer. 'I also connect with love story films very much'. This is the first full length love story film in my career added Jennifer in her address. Actor Dhyan the 'Namma Preethiya Huduga' doing a series of films in Kannada and showing his caliber in Hindi films too has four Hindi films ready for release. 'I am curious about everything in the film making right from story' and this is my responsibility informed Dhyan in his address. I don't get married in this film and there is lot of fun in this love story film 'O Manase' opined Dhyan. Director Sharan with not much of good standing in his career has directed films like 'Kullara Loka, Dr.Ambedkar, Poojari and he has under production film 'Hani Hani' starring Tarun and Pooja Gandhi. He is impressed with the story line provided by Ulavi Prasad. Another notable aspect of this film is that director Sharan is scoring music for this film that has six songs. Jagadish Wali is the cameraman. Manju Mandavya has penned the dialogues, Malur Srinivas is the choreographer. Ananthnag, Rangayana Raghu, Komalkumar, Sadhu Kokila are also in the supporting cast.
Ramesh picks murder mystery
The intelligent actor cum director with varied thoughts flowing in his mind Ramesh Aravind has made yet another clever selection of script, cast and crew for 'Accident'. Vishishta Productions group of software professionals headed by Raghunath and Balaji producing this interesting film. This film Ramesh should have made for Madhu Bangarappa. The preoccupation of him has made Ramesh take the approval for 'Vishista' production. Sitting on the story and screenplay from one and half years Ramesh this time is out in the middle for a thriller. The photo shoot and media brief indicates that he is up to a different kind of cinema after two rib tickling comedies 'Rama Shama Bhama and Satyavan Savitri'. He has taken note of unmanned railway gates, studied on sting operation to relate it to the film. He is roping a lot of new faces and Dinesh Baboo the eminent director is playing the inspector for the first time in this film. Known for novelty and brilliant thoughts Ramesh besides charming beauties Rekha, Pooja Gandhi, Mohan in the comedy department and Thilak of 'Ganda Hendathi and Meera Madhava Raghava' this time roping in fresh faces like Balaji Manohar an RJ, Longo Mahesh from London, dialogue writer Rajendra Karanth, top designer and model Rohan in the cast. Delectable cameraman G.S.Bhasker is handling the camera for this commercial film which is not his cup of tea. Everything is 'Rameshsised' said one of the producers G.Raghunath who is working for V Square infotech Private Limited as Managing director. I was buying tickets in my childhood days to see films of Dr.Raj, Vishnu, Ambarish and others. After progressing in my field since two decades with the association of my friends I have an excellent team headed by seniors like Ramesh Aravind and G.S.Bhasker to guide us in film production said Raghunath. He has launched Vishishta Productions and started the maiden Kannada film. He has several other ideas to put forth in the forthcoming days.
