Unlike in KOI'MIL GAYA, where child artistes were inducted to play school children, in its sequel KRRISH, written, produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan, real school kids are featured as characters in various scenes, including a song. Students from two schools ' 15 from Chao Yang Special School of Singapore, and 16 from Shree Ram School of Delhi ' participated in a schedule at Kallang River in Singapore. The film is partly being promoted by the Singapore Tourism Board and The Indian Women's Association of Singapore, and 60% of the film has been shot in the exotic Far-Eastern country. As a reciprocal gesture, Rakesh Roshan plans to hold premieres in Singapore during which his cast and crew will be present. The film stars Hrithik Roshan in the title role, along with Rekha, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta in guest appearance, and Naseerudin Shah, among others. It has music by Rajesh Roshan, special effects by Mark Kolbe and Craig Mumma of Hollywood and thrills by Tony Ching Siu of Hong Kong and Sham Kaushal. The film is slated for worldwide release in June.
Kumbakonam school fire tragedy: Ten convicted
More than a decade after the gruesome school fire in which 94 children were charred to death in Tamil Nadu's Kumbakonam district in 2004, the owner of the school and its principal are among 10 people found guilty today. Twenty one persons had been named in the charge sheet filed by the prosecution, which runs to over 5,000 pages. Principal District and Sessions Judge Mohamed Ali delivered the final judgement in the case. The final arguments concluded at the District and Sessions Court here on July 17. Though there were 24 accused initially, the state government had withdrawn the charges against three of them. Of the total of 501 witnesses, 230 were examined during the trial, which included survivors (children) and parents of the 94 children, who lost their lives. The tragic incident which brought to light poor safety conditions for children in schools across the country occurred on July 14, 2004 in Kumbakonam, when a fire sparked from the make-shift noon meal kitchen spread to the thatched hut in the first floor and killed 94 children. At the time of the incident, over 200 children were in the thatched roof class room. The narrow building on Kasiraman Street, which housed three schools together Sri Krishna Aided Private School, Saraswathi Nursery and Primary School and Sri Krishna Girls High School with the students' strength exceeding 700 -- did not have necessary fire safety equipment. Following the mishap police had registered a case under various IPC sections, including 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) read with 120-B (conspiracy) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others). Besides, Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 46 and 47 of the Tamil Nadu Recognised Private Schools (Regulation) Act, 1973 and section 320 of the Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act were also slapped on the accused. The 21 accused include the school correspondent, his wife, their adopted daughter, the then Kumbakonam Municipal Commissioner and a Town Planning Officer, besides some Education Department officials in the case. The trial commenced on September 24, 2012. The prosecution has contented that the first three accused had not followed the rules and regulations of the Education Department, while the Municipal Commissioner and Town Planning Officer failed in their duty to inspect the noon meal shed, which led to the spark and spread of the fire.
Khers Acting School now in Chandigarh
Anupam Kher has always been more than being an exceptional actor. Having started an acting school in Mumbai, Kher plans to open an acting institute in Chandigarh. The school is expected to get talent from neighbouring states likeJammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Anupam Kher is excited about getting back to Chandigarh considering he has studied in Punjab University there. Although the proposal has been accepted, a formal agreement between Anupam's Actor Prepares Company and the Society for Tourism and Entertainment Promotion (STEPS) in all likelihood will be signed next week.
Amitabh names school after Bahu
Amitabh Bachchan has contributed quite a bit to Indian cinema. Now the actor wants to do his bit for spreading education in India. The actor plans to open a school for girls in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The school in the Daulatpur village of Uttar Pradesh will bear Aishwariya's name. After the Allahabad High court gave a clean chit to Bachchan in the allotment of the land in the Daulatpur village land dispute, Big B bought another piece of land adjoining the plot in dispute and offered to donate it for building a school for girls. Amitabh has been in constant discussions with Amar Singh to build a school for girls in a state with one of the lowest literary rates. The foundation brick of the school will be laid shortly by Ash in a few months from now .Anil Ambani of the Reliance group will also be involved in this project.
Pallikoodam team to donate school
Thangar Bachchan is all set to commence Pallikoodam soon. Buzz is that he has plans to construct a huge school for shooting the movie as the entire movie unfolds in a school. Says Thangar Bachchan: 'We plan to shoot the entire movie in a school to be constructed by us and later we would donate it to a school, which lacks the basic infrastructure facility in the locality.' Pallikoodam is produced by Vishwas Sundar and features Naren, Sneha, director Seeman among others in the lead role. The movie is expected to go to floors soon. Thangar is cranking the camera for Gnanarajasekaran's Periyar. Once the movie is completed, he would commence his Pallikoodam.
Golconda High School music launched!
Sumanth, Swathi starrer Golconda High School audio has been launched yesterday at ML Jayasimha Academy, Secunderabad. Mohan Krishna Indraganti has directed the film by teaming up with producer Ram Mohan. Golconda High School is made on banner Art Beat Capital Pvt.Ltd. Kalayan Malik has scored the music for the film. On the eve of audio launch, the unit members of the film played a cricket match with the media members as the film is based on Cricket. Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao has released the first CD and presented it to Gowtham, the captain of the team. Other than the cast and crew of Golconda High School, celebrities such as Dr.Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya, Sushanth, Nani etc graced at the event and opined that the film will end up as a success.
