Sharmila Tagore: Real man shares wife's household work load
Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore feels a real man is one who shares household work load with his wife, and says such a move would promote participative relationship, bringing in happiness and peace at home. "It's in everybody's mind that this load sharing and this household chores need to be shared, do the laundry at home and help in household chores," Tagore told reporters at a promotional event. "Now we are all working women. Things are now changing and now we are ready and we want men to come forward and share the load. It's not going to make you less of a man. I have seen Saif (Ali Khan, her son)...When he became father (how he shared the load)," the National Award-winning actress said. "To be a real man, I think you have to be supportive of each other and to be a real woman you have to be supportive of your man, and the man has to do the same thing, only then he would be a real man," Sharmila said. Sharmila's daughter and actress Soha Ali Khan said men can certainly do household chores. "If I can do it, men can certainly do it. It's interesting now to talk about equality in the home and involving men in household chores such that women don't have to over extend themselves doing both her job and coming home and doing all the household chores," Soha said. "So, that kind of sharing the load is something that I have seen in my family growing up. Amma (Sharmila) was a working wife and a mother. I have seen my father (late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi) being very supportive of that and laundry was always my father's department," she added.
Sharmila Tagore, Deepa Mehta, And Freida Pinto Are Now Part Of The Oscars
Legendary actress Sharmila Tagore, Into-American Director Deepa Mehta, and Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto, are part of the new Indian contingent to be included by the Academy of Motions Pictures Arts and Sciences in its latest class of members. As per Firstpost, the Academy extended invitations to 683 new members this year – the largest ever in its history – of which 46% were female and 41% belonged to non-Caucasian ethnicities, as it sent a clear message of diversifying following widespread criticism over its largely white members, who also happen to be mostly men. British filmmaker, Asif Kapadia, was another inductee of Indian origin to be included as part of this year’s members. Academy President, Cheryl Boone Issacs, was quoted saying, “We are proud to welcome these new members to the Academy, and know they view this as an opportunity and not just an invitation, a mission, and not just a membership.” Indeed a huge honor for Tagore, Mehta, and Pinto, and a proud moment for Indian cinema.
Soha, Konkona, Sharmila, Aparna for Rahul Bose
Call it a coincidence! Rahul Bose, who works with Soha Ali Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma in Dil Kabbadi, is also doing a film with the mothers of his leading ladies. They are Sharmila Tagore and Aparna Sen. The film is called Antaheen. Dil Kabbadi brings together Soha and Konkana together, while Antaheen brings Sharmila and Aparna together for the first time. Both films have Rahul Bose in the lead. Also this is for this time, one of its firsts yet again, that Rahul is going to have Aparna Sen as his costar and not as his director. "Usually young actresses are paired opposite older actors but in my case it is the other way round," jokes Rahul. On a serious note he adds, "Working with Aparna and Sharmila is most advantageous because one gets to absorb so much knowledge from them." Speaking of Soha, Rahul said, "She is going to wow the audience in Dil Kabbadi. The film explores a side of Soha that audience has never seen before. Besides Soha and Konkana, the film also stars Irrfan Khan and Rahul Khanna. Anil Sharma is the director of Dil Kabbadi." Meanwhile Rahul is also looking forward to his film with Esha Deol that has Shivam Nair as its director. "It is an interesting film but has not been titled as yet," he says.
Shamlee hasn't signed Telugu film 'Kathalo Rajakumari'
Actress Shamlee hasn't given her consent to Telugu film "Kathalo Rajakumari", contrary to some reports. The project will feature Nara Rohith in the lead. "Shamlee currently has two Tamil projects and she's also in talks for a Malayalam film. Besides these, she hasn't signed any new project in Telugu," a source close to Shamlee told. Reportedly, Shamlee was approached by the makers of "Kathalo Rajakumari", but she turned down the offer. She also has a yet-untitled Tamil film with Dhanush in the offing.
Anupama replaces Shamlee in Dhanush's 'Kodi'
"Premam" fame Anupama Parameswaran has replaced Shamlee in Dhanush-starrer Tamil political thriller "Kodi", which is currently on the floors. "Shamlee exited the project due to some date issues. The makers have brought Anupama as her replacement and she's expected to join the sets next week," a source from the film's unit told. Although Shamlee briefly shot for her portion in the film's first schedule, she could not join later as she had already committed to two other projects. Directed by Durai Senthil Kumar, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, who will be playing a character with grey shades for the first time in her career. Dhanush essays dual roles in the upcoming film, which he has produced under his home banner Wunderbar Films.
