It is very difficult to make a film on your own terms. Courage and conviction are needed in abundance to come up movie without compromise. Shekar Kammula has that. We saw that through his Anand, which was one of the surprises in 2004. Anand was certainly the not the most radical of films. But why this simple story starring Raja and Kamalini clicked because it kept everything straightforward. There was no attempt at deceiving the audience. A simple and cute love story was told in a simple manner. The element of drama was not artificially induced. It showed that Shekar Kammula had it in him to make agreeable mainstream movies that are not over the top. It is that quality that makes everyone wait in anticipation for his next Godavari. The movie, starring Sumanth and Kamalini, is one of the main attractions this summer. The director, who waited till the monsoon season to get some of the scenes he had in mind, is now almost through with the movie. Sans a couple of songs, the entire shoot seems to be over and the movie will certainly release in April. With music by the talented Radhakrishna, the songs carry good reports (audio is set for release this month). On the whole, Shekar Kammula is happy that the movie has come out well. Now it will be up to us to judge whether Shekar has stood steadfast to his ideals or succumbed the commercial pressures.
Shekar's big heart
Shekar Kammula is a sensitive human being. You will know it when you see his movies. There is always an understated elegance to his works. The director's new film Godavari has just released. It now turns out that Shekar has taken no remuneration for the movie so far. He has said that he would get it only after the film breaks even. This was revealed by Godavari's producer GVG Raju yesterday at the film's special premiere at Imax Screen of Prasads Multiplex. The special screening for the biggies as well as the general public had tickets sold for Rs.300. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Raju said it was a pleasure to work with Shekar and he was a thorough gentleman all through. Sumanth, who plays the hero in the movie, was all thrilled about having worked in the movie. He said the movie had gone down well with his family members, who are generally hard to please. Shekar himself said the movie was a collective effort and it was nice to know that the film was being received well.

Shekar Chandru moves to new house
The talented cameraman of Kannada cinema Shekar Chandru moved to his new house on Hegde Nagar situated at Dr Shivaramakaranth layout on the outskirts of Bangalore. Shekar Chandru who is currently doing cinematography for Golden star Ganesh’s ‘Madhuve Mane’ has worked as cameraman for some of the films like ‘Neela Megha Shyama’, ‘Premigaagi’, ‘Aramane’, ‘Nandi’, ‘Circus’, ‘Punda’, etc. Shekar Chandru’s recent hit film as cameraman is ‘Krishnan Love Story’.
Shivarajkumar Wants To Do a Comedy Film
Shivarajkumar who has acted in all genres of cinema, now wants to do an out and out comedy film. 'Many people are saying that I have been doing a lot of 'long' films (rowdism oriented films) for a while. Though it was a long journey, it was a good journey. I have done both good as well as bad films' said Shivarajkumar. Shivarajkumar said he wants to stop doing rowdism films for a while and wants to concentrate on doing some comedy films. 'I don't know whether I will continue doing same films. It all depends on the subject. If there is any difference then I certainly won't mind doing films. But now I want to go towards comedy' said Shivarajkumar.
Shivarajkumar Fans to Donate for CM Relief Fund
The Shivarajkumar's fans association has decided to celebrate Shivarajkumar's birthday in a low key manner and has planned to donate the proceeds to Chief Minister Relief Fund.The countdown for Shivarajkumar's 51st birthday on 12th of July has started and this time the fans has decided not make big celebrations as most parts of North India particularly Uttarakhand is ravaged with floods. So, the fans of Shivarajkumar have decided to do their bit to help the people. Akhila Karnataka Shivarajkumar Sena Samithi along with Gandugali Shivarajkumar Fans Association, Sriram Shivarajkumar Fans Association, Shivu Adda and Shiva Sainya has requested Shivarajkumar fans who come to Shivarajkumar's house on the birthday not to bring garlands or cakes on the star's birthday, but instead has asked to donate generously to help the people. The associations have requested to send DDs in favour of CM Relief Fund.
