SOCHA NA THA debutants clash at box office

After a togetherness for years during the making of SOCHA NA THA, it's lead pair of Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia would now be on the opposite sides as their films come within breathing distance of each other this April. Hence while EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL starring Abhay in the lead along with Neha Dhupia would be hitting the screens on April 13th, a week later Ayesha would be bringing along her love story in Tusshar Kapoor led KYA LOVE STORY HAI. Incidentally while EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL has been in the news for around 2 years with the release date finally being closed after months of speculation, KYA LOVE STORY HAI has been relatively a quickie in the making with news about it just beginning to make rounds. There is coincidence though about the two films as each of them has a debutant director at the helm. While EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL is directed by Sanjay Khanduri, KYA LOVE STORY HAI has Lovely Singh as the man behind the megaphone.

Soha finally sees a release in 2007

More than 15 months after she was seen on the big screen in AHISTA ASHISTA (Aug 2006), Soha Ali Khan would find herself in the middle of action this December when one of her most ambitious films KHOYA KHOYA CHAND releases. Doing selective films ever since she made her Bollywood debut in DIL MAANGE MORE (2004), Soha has been a part of only 6 films so far with KHOYA KHOYA CHAND being her 7th release. Playing a character who rises from being a simple girl next door to an extra and then a successful actress, KHOYA KHOYA CHAND is based in 50s/60s and is directed by Sudhir Mishra. Produced by Prakash Jha, the film stars Shiney Ahuja opposite Soha and is slated for a 7th December release.

Soha, Konkona, Sharmila, Aparna for Rahul Bose

Call it a coincidence! Rahul Bose, who works with Soha Ali Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma in Dil Kabbadi, is also doing a film with the mothers of his leading ladies. They are Sharmila Tagore and Aparna Sen. The film is called Antaheen. Dil Kabbadi brings together Soha and Konkana together, while Antaheen brings Sharmila and Aparna together for the first time. Both films have Rahul Bose in the lead. Also this is for this time, one of its firsts yet again, that Rahul is going to have Aparna Sen as his costar and not as his director. "Usually young actresses are paired opposite older actors but in my case it is the other way round," jokes Rahul. On a serious note he adds, "Working with Aparna and Sharmila is most advantageous because one gets to absorb so much knowledge from them." Speaking of Soha, Rahul said, "She is going to wow the audience in Dil Kabbadi. The film explores a side of Soha that audience has never seen before. Besides Soha and Konkana, the film also stars Irrfan Khan and Rahul Khanna. Anil Sharma is the director of Dil Kabbadi." Meanwhile Rahul is also looking forward to his film with Esha Deol that has Shivam Nair as its director. "It is an interesting film but has not been titled as yet," he says.

Soha learning finer nuances of comedy

Soha Ali Khan, soon to be seen in comedies like "Calling Mr. Joe B Carvalho" and "War Chod Na Yaar", says comedy is tough but she is capturing nuances of the "most-liked" genre. "It is tough to do a comedy but I am getting to learn a lot in that (genre)," Soha said here Monday at the launch of a clothing store. "I felt that now I should do comedy as people also love comedies," added the actress, last seen in a cameo in zombie comedy "Go Goa Gone". She also has "Airport" and "Chaarfutiya Chhokare" lined up for the release and the 34-year-old is elated about getting opportunities to explore her acting skills. "I am very excited that I got an opportunity to prove myself through 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns'. The audience liked it, even I liked it. Now I am getting more opportunities to do good roles," she said. In the past, she has been part of off-beat films like "Soundtrack" and "Midnight's Children" as well as commercial films like "Rang De Basanti" and "Tum Mile". She is dating Kunal Khemu and when asked about her marriage plans, Soha said: "There has been no discussion about it... My relationship is in front of you. We are not hiding anything from you." "There is nothing like that we are planning a small, secretive marriage and you won't come to know about that. You all will be invited when that will happen... (We are not getting married) this year, this year is almost over. Right now we are going with New Year plans."

Soha's 'rewarding' experience with Sunny Deol

Actress Soha Ali Khan, who will also be seen in "Ghayal Once Again", which is a sequel of 1990 film "Ghayal", says it was wonderful to work with an actor as dedicated as Sunny Deol. Talking about her experience of working with Sunny, who has directed and plays the lead role in "Ghayal Once Again", Soha said: "It was mind-blowing, because I have never interacted with him personally before and on this film... it was intense and it was a very emotional experience. "He is very emotional about this film as well because it means a lot to him as it's a sequel to 'Ghayal', and he is the director, producer and lead actor in the film. Soha doesn't interfere in my film choices: Kunal Khemu

Actor Kunal Khemu says that his wife and actress Soha Ali Khan doesn't interfere in the film choices that he makes. In an interview as part of the promotions of his film, "Bhaag Johnny", Kunal said: "She doesn't interfere in my films. And the final decision is always our own." However Kunal says that they generally discuss projects with each other. "We generally discuss projects that we're doing. We respect each other as professionals - because we've been doing that before we met each other," he said. Kunal and Soha tied the knot in a private ceremony in January this year after several years of courtship. Their romance grew on the sets of their films, "Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge" and "99". Soha too intends to work post-marriage and will be seen opposite Sunny Deol in the sequel of "Ghayal". Kunal is returning to the big screen after a gap of two years with "Bhaag Johnny" and he says that the story of the film is its USP. "It's the first time that such story and screenplay technique is being showed on screen. But yet it is presented in a simple way so that audiences don't remain confused about the film," said Kunal. "Bhaag Johnny" directed by Shivamm Nair also stars Zoa Morani, Mandana Karimi and Manasi Scott among others. The film is scheduled to release on September 25.
