Makrands next is a spoof on society

After a spoof on Bollywood it is time for a spoof on our society. Renowned theatre and film personality Makrand Deshpande is coming up with his next project 'DHAAN' which is a dark comedy based on rural urban truth. 'Dhaan' is based on farmer suicides and will certainly be an addition to the list of subject-oriented films. The film happens to be the first production venture of Shekhar Suman and will have him in the lead cast as well. 'I approached Shekhar with the script for the lead role, but he liked the script so much that he decided to produce it', says Makrand. Makrand's film 'Drream Man' which is all set to release this October, has also been in news for its unconventional story line. When asked on the subject of the film, Makrand said, 'Farmer suicides are now a major part of rural India. We are celebrating 60th year of Independence but we are still incapable of stopping the rising number of suicide happening in our villages'.

Ace film director, better known for his award winning trilogy, has scored a Hat-trick of National Awards, winning the National Award for The Best Film Director, for his film Traffic Signal. It is this love and affection of the audience, that gives me the immense freedom of creativity and deliver something very new and out of league.' He quips. Madhur ran a video cassette library in Khar- Mumbai, before he turned Film Director. This gave him access to a large collection of movies and studying movie making. It was the first National award for Chandni Bar that boosted Madhur's confidence to establish himself into the top league of filmmakers in Bollywood. Since then, success follows him on every of his project. Madhur is always known for his socially relevant and hard hitting films. But Traffic Signal was a different attempt, which was very well accepted by the audience and the critics. "My movies are not exposive, maybe they just hold up a mirror to society. My movies are not judgmental, I just show what happens in our society, sometimes there could be a solution and sometimes there may be none. Life goes on." With Hat-trick of National awards already under his belt, Madhur's 'Fashion', which is making quiet a Buzz and is awaiting to unfold many surprises, will now be reviewed with much more anticipation and expectations.

My BRA does no harm to the Society

Kangana Ranaut extended her support to the filmmakers who revolted against the Censor Board in the wake of controversy over numerous cuts suggested for 'Udta Punjab'. The 'Queen' Star feels there is no need for parental attitude towards audience and filmmakers deserve creative freedom. She told people whom she knew were disturbed by the sequence of incidents happening in connection with 'Udta Punjab' censor. On the occasion, Kangana shared her personal experience with Censorship prior to 'Queen' release. 'In 'Queen', There is one particular scene where a boy spots a bra on my bed. I was told by Director Vikas Bahl, who looked very angry, that Censor has blurred the bra as they found it vulgar. There is nothing vulgar about a woman's bra and its not a danger to society either,' she opined. Currently, 'Udta Punjab' uncut release issue is in the Bombay High Court. HC directed the Censor Board to explain the changes it suggested in the movie for theatrical release.
