These days Harry Baweja's lucky stars have hid somewhere. Harry's movie Speed which has been directed by Vikram Bhatt would have been completed by March if it weren't for Zayed's injury. He got hurt when he was doing stunts on wires. Urmila Matondkar also stars in the movie. Vikram Bhatt is working with Urmila for the first time. Bhatt's next release is Ankahee starring Amisha Patel, Esha Deol and Aftaab Shivdasani. Bhatt's much awaited horror flick Rooh will be released soon.
Tanushree Dutta gathers SPEED while playing DHOL
Tanushree Dutta has been having an eventful year so far. After RISK (January 2007), GOOD BOY BAD BOY (May 2007) and RAQEEB (May 2007), she would be having two more of her films arriving in back to back weeks this September. First to come would be Priyadarshan's high profile project DHOL which is a comic thriller. Releasing on 21st September, the film is carrying good reports and is said to be a laugh-a-minute riot. A week later, i.e. on 28th September, her two-years-in-the-making SPEED would be releasing too which is directed by Vikram Bhatt. A Harry Baweja production based on Hollywood thriller CELLULAR, SPEED has Tanushree playing Zayed Khan's love interest in the film. She has also been in the news recently for signing a children's film where she is required to play a character on the lines of Lara Croft from THE TOMB RAIDERS series. As a preparation for her role, she is also learning martial arts.
Mreenal's high speed on a RUNWAY
Mreenal Desharj, who was last seen in Doli Saja Ke Rakhna will soon be seen on the big screen. The talented actress is shooting for a film titled Runway, which is directed by Sunil Tiwari and actor Amarjit Shukla is paired opposite her. Her acting skills are not just restricted to the small screen but are also evident on the silver screen. She has done varied roles in Bollywood films like Sooraj Barjatya's Vivaah, Anubah Sinha's Tathastu and Pankaj Parasher's Sab Gadbad Hai. "We have finished the first schedule in Mumbai and now we are heading to Mauritius for the second schedule," says Mreenal. Probe her further for some extra dope, pat comes the reply, "I'm not allowed to say anything more as for now, so far so good is the best way I can describe my journey in the industry," she beams. Looks like the going is good for Mreenal.
Akshay Kumar appeals for speedy evacuation of Indians stranded in Sudan
Akshay Kumar appealed to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj yesterday on Twitter to speed up the evacuation of Indians stranded in Juba, south Sudan. The city has witnessed an outbreak of violence due to clashes between anti and pro government forces. In his last release, 'Airlift', the star had essayed the role of a braveheart businessman who leads his countrymen’s evacuation from Kuwait after invasion by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Akshay wrote, "@Sushma Swaraj Ma’am request for speedy measures and actions to evacuate Indians stranded in Sudan. Prayers with them." Known for her prompt replies, Swaraj assured Akshay that necessary measures have been initiated.
Aarti Chabbria's Need for Speed!!
For actress Aarti Chabbria, the success of her back to back box office hits Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kannada film Santha and recently Partner, where she made a special appearance, is not the only she is riding high on!! Aarti recently rode an Activa in Goa while shooting for her film and she enjoyed it so much that now it's like an addiction and Aarti can't wait to get her hands on bigger, meaner bikes like the Pulsar, Harley Davidson, Haybusa, etc! Says the actress, "I know these big bikes are way more heavier but I know If I put my mind to it or maybe get the right rider to guide me'ill be riding soon!!"
J Brandon Hill's career gains speed
J Brandon Hill is quite lucky as he got a small but well noticed role in the blockbuster laugh riot 'Bunty Aur Bubli'. The actor from U.S. went on get noticed more because of the peculiarity of the scenes in which he is seen in the film. In the film he plays the millionaire who gets fooled into buying the pride of India Taj Mahal from the trouble making characters played to perfection by Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerjee. The amusing scenes became an instant hit and is still recalled. The actor who loves Indian food and is extremely attracted to Indian costumes has started to climb the ladder with some good movies from respected banners in his kitty. He will be seen in Mukesh Bhatt's 'Raaz 2' in an important role as the villain and also in a significant role in Rajiv Sharma's 'Mere Bachpan'. Brandon says that he from his younger days itself was attracted to India and he never thought that one day this land will become his home. The foreigner says that he dislikes when people ask him if he miss his home as he considers India as his home and not as a second home. He considers himself to be very lucky as he was able to get a role in a movie made under the Yash Raj Banner. In the future he wants to get established as a good actor and do prominent roles. Right now the tall and handsome actor with a great voice is in the process of mastering Hindi. Before landing up in Bollywood, J.Branson Hill was actively involved in theatre back home in U.S. and acting has always been his greatest passion. Mostly this American import only wears Indian dresses as he feels it suits him the best. India, it seems have got inside this guy's nerves. Let's see if he is able to get inside the hearts of Indians with roles as memorable as the stupid white man who wants the Taj Mahal as a present for his wife.
