After crooning away to glory with 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' in 'Dil Se' around a decade back, Sukhwinder Singh is all geared to do it again, this time all for himself. A few days from now and Sukhwinder Singh's latest non-film album 'Is Dil Se' will hit the stands. The album has some of his choicest original songs rendered by him with lyrics by Sameer. Arriving on T-Series, the album boasts of an up market look throughout and appears to be a compilation of songs belonging to varied genres. One hopes that this album carries as much punch as hit album 'Nasha Hi Nasha Hai' that arrived 6 years back and created a big sensation with its title track. On Bollywood front too Sukhwinder has been having a great time with his superhit title track of 'Omkara' still being widely popular. Earlier this year he had a hit 'Ankhiyon Se Gal Kar Gayi' [Shaadi Se Pehle]. His title song of 'Apna Sapna Money Money' has picked up in a big way too and has managed to bring the film into limelight. Another title song that he has sung but has sadly been widely ignored is for Jimmy Shergill starrer 'Rehguzar'. Since the film has been revived and is being readied for release, one hopes that the song too would get its due. One especially feels sad for 'Jeena Te Pyaar' from 'American Blend'. The song had merely picked up before the film's aborted run at the box office took away whatever prospects the song carried with it. Also not many are aware that even on Hollywood front too, Sukhwinder has become quite a popular name, courtesy the song 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'. The number has been used as it is with due credits given in this year's release 'Inside Man' [Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster]. The song makes a stunning impact as it appears in full length during the opening and the end credit rolls and has been strategically placed in the visuals.
Sukhwinder's HOLLYWOOD connection
Hindi cinema's super singer Sukhwinder has recorded a song for Danny Boyle's film 'Slum Dog Millionaire'. Starring Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor, its music is given by AR Rehman. "Lyrics of the song were amazing. It is written by Gulzaar saab and music is naturally peppy, the way all Rehman songs are. I loved singing Jai Ho and I must have sung the song so many times that eventually Rehman got really perplexed. Now they are wondering who would edit all the versions and which version is the best," laughs Sukhwinder. Film is based on a true story, and it's about a kid from the slums of Mumbai, who has nothing ' he's ill educated, he's illiterate ' and he goes on the Hindi version of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' and wins it. It has tongue-in-cheek humour. This film is written by Simon Beaufoy. As for Sukhwinder Singh he is all set to ride the Hollywood wave after winning over Indian audience with his voice and melody. His other Hollywood venture as music director and singer is Steven Spielberg's next film. For this film Sukhwinder is recording a kutch song. "I chose folk because it will stand out in the crowd. I refused to take any techno music because Hollywood is way ahead in it. We need to have our own flavour and make our mark with what is ours."
Shehzad-Sukhbir spread message of peace
Shehzad Roy is today popular amongst the music lovers for his super hit track 'Salli' that features him along with Pakistani superstar Javed Sheikh. But do you know that the album 'Salli' also features a song that has Shehzad singing a duet with Punjabi pop sensation Sukhbir? The song 'Jinna Kar Lo Gay Pyar' is the track in question that is pitched at spreading the message of love and peace. Incorporated first in Shehzad's earlier album 'Rab Janey' [2002], 'Jinna Kar Lo' tries to convey a meaningful message through use of light-hearted yet earthy tune. After the popularity of 'Salli', the music video of 'Jinna Kar Lo' has been shot and is now on air. Also noticeable is the camaraderie shared between the two artists that makes for a pretty sight.
Anjana Sukhani keeps sexual harassers at bay
She may be the prettiest thing to have happened to 'Salaam E Ishq' but is currently kept tightly under wraps before the release of the film. Hence while Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Ayesha Takia, Juhi Chawla and Isha Kopikar are the most visible faces in the promos of SEI which are out on all media channels 24X7, Anjana is cool as cucumber as she waits for her big moment to arrive on the big screen on January 25th. Meanwhile she is busy with her other assignments as just recently she was seen keeping sexual harassers at bay. Well, strictly on screen, thankfully! She appears in a light hearted short film [currently been shown at theaters] that conveys the message of coming on hard at those roving eyes that never feel shy about staring at females at any given moment. As a lead protagonist who teaches such men a lesson, Anjana does it in her own sweet'ncute style. Making quite an impression in the short film, she extends her sweet charm that she has displayed so far in films like 'Hum Dum', 'Sun Zarra' and 'Jaana-Let's Fall In Love'. Her is looking forward more of this girl!
"I am not nervous" - Anjana Sukhani
Lead pair of 'Jaana - Let's Fall In Love' were in capital on a whirlwind tour for the promotion of their film that releases this Friday. Rehan Khan and Anjana Sukhani interacted with the media and were visibly happy'n'excited to see their film hitting the marquee. In spite of huge competition [at least quantitatively] with as many as 11 films coming together on October 11th, neither Rehan nor Anjana were unperturbed. They felt that the content of 'Jaana - Let's Fall In Love' had enough meat to take their movie past the finishing line. On asked whether there were any nervous pangs, Rehan honestly admitted, "Yes, a lot! This is my first film and I can't explain how eager I am to witness audience seeing me on the big screen. I can hardly count the number of hours left for the D day". In comparison Anjana was cool [as she looks and acts in real life too]. She giggled, "Ummm, nervous? Not really, especially since this is my third film after 'Hum Dum' and 'Sun Zarra'. So these are quite normal days for me and I don't see myself being overtly worried even on Friday when the film arrives. But yes, I can understand Rehan's state since I have gone through that myself some time ago!"
with love... Sukhwinder's 'Dil Se'
The Chaiyya-Chaiyya guy is back with love through his latest album 'Is Dil Se : love never dies'. He has the soulful voice, the creativity and a unique style of his own. But who's he? He's the one who has been engaged in giving superhits one by another. Any guesses Ok! Ok! One more hint.. Recently he bagged the prestigious Bollywood Music Award at Atlantic City, New York for title song of 'Omkara'. He's none other than the stylish munda of Bollywood and Indi-pop industry Sukhwinder Singh. He was in town recently for the launch of his latest album 'Is Dil Se : love never dies' released by T-Series at a function held at five star hotel Le Meridien. On the occasion along with Sukhwinder, Ekta Mission's President Pawan Monga, Event & Art Promoter Sanjay Malik, reporters from printer and electronic media were also present there. Although like others Sukhwinder also struggled a lot to taste the success but once he gets it, he never looked back again and today achieves the place of his own. All the credit goes to A.R. Rehman and Maniratnam who provided him the opportunity in Dil Se to sing 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' for which he also bagged the Film Fare award of best singer. For Sukhwinder, the success was like 'hungry lion tastes the blood'. Today he has to his credit songs like 'Chaiyya Chaiyya, Hai Hai Mirchi, Tu Mujhe Choo Le, Kambakht Ishq, Naach Meri Jaan, Nasha Hi Nasha, Aaj Mera Ji Karda, Omkara' to name a few. Most of the songs sung by Sukhwinder make audiences danced to his tunes. On this occasion Sukhwinder said, 'Is Dil Se' has eight tracks which has been penned by Sameer. According to Sukhwinder, this album is the first ever in the history of Indian Music Industry to have eight tracks of different mood and situations. The album has got the subject on Romantic Story. The best part of the album is the choice of original songs handpicked and compiled by me that belongs to varied genres and this is the one specialty of this album which makes it different from regular pop albums. He further added that today viewers also want to watch the video and keeping in mind the same they have made the video of title song which is being aired on different channels. Other than 'Is Dil Se : love never dies', once again he and Sukhwinder gets together with A.R. Rehman for Oscar nominated 'Water', play written by Shekhar Kapoor and produced & directed by Andrew Loyed entitled 'Bombay Dreams' & Hollywood project 'Inside Man'. In his forthcoming projects 'Rehguzar, Kaafila, Ek Dastak' and many others are lined up.
