After being crowned the sexiest woman by FHM, Katrina Kaif is in talks for her upcoming film Singh Is Kinng which is produced by Vipul Shah. Katrina is very excited about her next release. She quotes "I am hoping high with this film, not only because it's an important film for me but also its director Vipul Shah's first film as a producer and I know how much that would mean to him". She has given back to back 5 whammies, out of which two of them was paired opposite Mr.Khiladi, Akshay Kumar, and now next is Singh Is Kinng. They have already been a hit pair onscreen. Katrina is considered amongst the select few who commands a price and gets it. And her sense of dedication and election of scripts is bang on target, what with the trade circles abuzz on how she too is proving lucky for Akshay Kumar at the box office stakes. Infact with the positive reports in the trade circle of 'Singh is Kinng' and 'Yuvraj', her next back to back releases, the trade is abuzz on how Katrina is all set to have seven hits in a row, a record of sorts in Bollywood. Manoj Bajpayee still straight after 'Aligarh'
Despite more than a month of preparation and shooting for a role that was homosexual in the film "Aligarh", actor Manoj Bajpayee says he is still straight. Social activist Harish Iyer, who was present along with the cast and crew of the film at a press meet on Tuesday, told Manoj: "I promise you that you will not become gay if you support this film." Manoj replied: "He is right. Thirty days of preparation, and 35 days of shooting for this role, I'm still straight." Manoj plays a professor who is homosexual, and who was filmed while he became intimate with another male. That video led the college management to suspend him, after which he pursues a court case and gets his job back, but loses his life in the process. "Gulzar sahab says that all characters, if you really play them seriously, leave a mark in your brain. Most of the actors who take their work very seriously and work in these kind of films, you'll find them having mood swings. It creates a vacuum inside you, your mind is bruised after playing so many various characters from theatre days till now," Manoj said. "It's quite taxing when whole day you're in the character, and if you don't do that, you'll miss the 'sur'. You have to be in the character and you have to be walking, eating like him," he said. "Aligarh", directed by Hansal Mehta and also starring Rajkummar Rao, is releasing on February 26. On how to come out of the character, he said: "If you want to be sane, then you really have to switch off. This is what my psychiatrist told me 10-15 years back. I didn't know how to do that but I started working on it, and now I reached a point that after pack-up, I just switch off. I like to unwind by disturbing Hansal Mehta by knocking his door 50 times." "Find people from the unit, sit with them, talk to them, just forget what you've done and look for the next day. At the end of the day have a glass of wine, play up some music, dance, that's what I do," Manoj added.
'Jaan-E-Mann' - Akshay's straight 3rd Diwali / Idd release
Akshay seems to becoming a Diwali /Idd release specialist. He has always had a block-buster during the festival period. 2 years back he took on SRK's 'Veer Zaara' with 'Aitraaz' and followed it up last year with 'Garam Masala' as a face/off with Salman's 'Kyon Ki'. This year again it's a repeat clash with SRK'S 'Don' v/s 'Jaan-e-maan', which combines the box office & charismatic force of two superstars. Sajid Nadiadwala is confident of Jaan-e-maan and his superstars. In fact the trade pundits have already declared it a winner, what with the record breaking distribution deals and the high decibel buzz on the film. Also Akshay is on a consecutive box office run since 'Aitraaz'. So will the Diwali/Idd release specialist create the fire works at the Box Office this year too? Surely seems so, with all the indicators moving in that direction!!
Straight from NTR, in a week's time
We have early on reported that the Nandamuri Nata Tiger, NTR, has been impressed with Bobby's story, and has even got on board NTR Arts to bankroll the project. The director of the successful 'Power' and the disastrous 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' fame has reportedly penned a dual role for the 'Janatha Garage' lion in this flick. The project will go on the floors sometime in January, and going by the fact that Trivikram Srinivas' film with NTR will be kicked off in June, Young Tiger should ideally be done with it by April end or so. As per some reports, the film will be launched in a week's time.
Santhu Straight Forward Releasing This Month
Yash's new film Santhu Straight Forward is likely to release this month itself. The film team is working tirelessly to get the film to release on October 27. The patch up shooting work for the film is underway in Kanakapura currently and one more song has to be shot. The shooting schedule requires 7 more days. The technical work on the film The technical work on the film is however up to date. Shooting will be completed by October 10 latest. Sources in the film team say the film will be sent for Censor certification in advance and the film will be definitely ready for release on October 27.
