With the influx of a new generation of directors, scrip writers, technicians and new marketing and trade tactics being adopted, Bollywood is filled with new ideas and creative energy. This is quite evident from the different kinds of movies being made, some of which can be labeled as pure visual experiments. The new film makers it seems wants to do away with some age old Bollywood superstitions too. The makers of 'Summer 2007' having Sikander Kher as the hero decided to go ahead and release their movie on June 13th, the ill-fated day which falls on the superstitious Friday the thirteenth. But the spirit of the team 'Summer 2007' didn't allow themselves to be carried away by just a date and instead took the support of their belief and confidence in their work. The whole crew of the film wants to change the world wide myth about the Friday the 13th. The film tells the story of five students thrilling experiences through their travel through rural India. Other than the main lead Sikander Kher, Gul Panag, Yuvika Chowdhary, Arjan Bawja and Alekh are the other main characters in the film directed by Suhail Tatari and music composed by Gourov Dasgupta. For the new kids in Bollywood, only the content and performance is what matters. Not the dates and hollow beliefs.
'Summer 2007'-A journey of Change
The whole country is facing an acute price rise and also large parts of the country are reeling under the pressure of the collapse of some of the traditional strong lands of farming. This has been a subject of discussion for a long time now among the intellectuals and decision makers in India. This crisis faced by the farmers and their effects on the rural economy and the potent weapon called microfinance that can bring about a great change in terms of earning patterns and bringing better life for the poorest of the poor forms the core of the story of the film 'Summer 2007'. Sikander Kher plays one of the characters in this flick produced by Adlabs and Atul Productions to be released on June 13. Sikander along with Gul Panang, Yuvika, Arjan and Alekh play the five characters of medical students who go for a rural media training camp in a village. The film's story progresses as the five friends gets involved with the problems faced by the villagers and how the life that sees around them have an influence upon them. The five youngsters go through tribulations and gets insights from their own experiences. They confront with the bitter realities, sometimes getting frustrated and discovering love on the way. Finally when it is time to say goodbye to the rural life, they find out that they have become better human beings, more stronger and more enlightened. An important character of the film is played by Sachin Khedekar. This character was inspired by the life story of Mohamad Yunus of Grameen Bank who introduced the concept of micro credit into the world when he lent $27 to forty two people in 1976 going on to revolutionise the way in which the poor can be helped and today this system is practiced in 60 countries. A great concept for a film that can send a good message and make the youth aware of the problems faced by the fast growing Indian economy.

It is a documentary based on the injustice of the Juvenile Justice System of our country. Ek tha Bachpan takes you through the unfair series of events that many street kids go through once they are picked up by the cops for no apparent reason. Natural performances by Raj Bhansali, Pushpendra Sain and Amin who play Guddu. Pratap and Babloo respectively in the film, make this documentary truly heart wrenching. Suhail Tatari, the director of this docu-drama has treated the film in a very believable manner. From depicting the insensitive cops to showing the plight of the children who are tortured in the observation homes, the documentary leaves an impact on the viewer. It throws light on how these children are taken in sometimes for crimes that they have committed and sometimes just because the police needs to reach a certain number of 'criminals' arrested. Ek tha Bachpan brings out the incompetence of the Juvenile Justice system and the social workers that claim to fight for the innocent little ones behind the bars. The documentary will be on air on 7th June, 3pm on CNBC TV18.
