Renowned Telugu producer Edida Nageswara Rao passed away here on Sunday at a private hospital. He was 81. "He was admitted for old-age related ailments a week ago. He passed away while undergoing treatment this evening at the hospital," a family source told. Born on April 24, 1934 in Kotha Peta, East Godavari, Rao was known for producing path breaking Telugu films such as "Sankarabharanam", "Swati Mutyam" and "Swayam Krushi" under Poornodaya Movie Creations banner. He was popular for his regular collaboration with legendary director K. Vishwanath. The duo worked together in six films. Rao's "Swati Mutyam", starring Kamal Haasan and directed by K. Vishwanath, was sent by India as its official entry for Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards in 1986, but was not nominated. Three of Rao's films have won National awards. He was also nominated for the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. His last rites will be conducted on Monday here.
Chiranjeevi owes us a film: Puri Jagannadh
Telugu star Chiranjeevi, the minister of state for tourism at the centre, turned 58 Thursday and filmmaker Puri Jagannadh says he owes one more film - which will be his 150th - to his fans. Puri posted on his Twitter page in Telugu: "Mee cinemalu choostu perigamu. Kani meeru maaku oka cinema bakipaddaru. Adi eppudu (We grew up watching your films, but you owe us one film. When will you repay?)" Chiranjeevi, who was last seen on in the 2009 Telugu film "Magadheera" in a cameo alongside his son Ram Charan Teja, hasn't done any movie after entering politics by launching the Praja Rajyam Party. Chiru, as he is fondly called, has acted in 149 films including Tamil, Kannada and Hindi in a career spanning over three decades. Some of his best films include "Khaidi", "Swayam Krushi", "Indra" and "Shankar Dada MBBS".

Born as Konidela Siva Shankara Vara Prasad on 22nd of August in 1955 Chiranjeevi celebrates on of his decisive Birth Days in his life. The importance gathered since he has taken an unknown career yet in his life time, politics. Though he has taken many risks in the film career, politics is entirely a new game for him. Chiranjeevi's contribution towards the tinsel world is undisputed and for that honored with Padma Bhushan award one of the highest civilian awards of the land. After completing his Diploma in Acting in Chennai, Chiranjeevi accepted an offer to act in 'Punadi Rallu'in 1978, But the movie got delayed. Producer-director T Kranti Kumar, gave him a role in the film, 'Pranam Khareedu' which was in fact his first release.Later, director Bapu signed him for 'Manavoori Pandavulu', where he first attained some recognition. In the beginning of his career, Chiranjeevi donned villain roles in films like Kukka Kaatuki Cheppu Debba, Kotthapeta Rowdi etc. He was known for his swift dance movements and perilous hair raising fights. His success started following his quite much-admired role in 'Initilo Ramayya Vidhilo Krishnayya' in the year 1981. Between 1978 and 1983 October he had acted in about 60 movies, mostly in secondary roles, some as second hero, some as villain and some as character roles. The film Khaidi changed entire phenomena of heroism in Telugu film industry which is directed by A Kodandarami Reddy. But the film is said to be took inspiration of the Hollywood blockbuster, First Blood. In 1987 Pasivadi Pranam brought him super stardom. Swayam Krushi by K Vishwanath in the same year won him Nandi Award. Again in 2002 for the Indra he received Nandi award. Rudraveena in the 1988 directed by K Balachander won him Nargis Dutt award in the national arena. Chiru, Mega Star and Annayya are his surnames given out in the affection by fans and industry friends. He has married daughter of famous comedian of yesteryears Allu Rama Lingaiah and they have three issues consist of two daughters and a son. His filmdom expanded earlier by his brothers Nagendra Babu and Pawan Kalyan and his reign has been taken over his son Ram Charan Teja. He has already released one film Chirutha and doing the second under the direction of Rajamouldi. Indiagliz wishes Chiru for his extended success in both personal and public life!
