Exclusive Promo Watch: Ta Ra Rum Pum

Jab bhi ho gam zyada ya kam Muskurayenge hum, gayenge hum'. Ta Ra Rum Pum'. Little Priya recounts what 'best' Mummy (Rani Mukherjee) and 'best' Daddy (Saif Ali Khan) had taught younger bro Ranveer and her in times of crisis-n-strife (So very typical sugar-coated-Yashraj-ishtyle). Siddharth Anand shifts location from Australia (Salaam Namaste) to USA for his second film unusually titled 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' and when you finish having a 'dekho' of the slickly made three minute theatrical promo, you are filled with a mixed feeling. Why? Firstly, as expected, the production values are first rate, camera work is exceptional, stunts are fantastic (the tumbling car sequence is mouth-gaping) and the look is hep-n-happening. Saif looks hot in the 'Days of Thunder' get-up of a Tom Cruise like maverick car racer. And then the big car accident results in things undergoing a sea change! Wasn't Shahrukh Khan a footballer before he meets up with an untimely accident in 'Kabhi Alvida na Kehna? Any similarities are co-incidental'Anyone'The New York locale has been done to death in films like 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and 'Kal Ho Na Ho'. It's as if you've seen those jumps-n-camaraderie before with the familiar skyline as a backdrop. Moreover, when Priya says that her Mummy is the 'best', daddy is the 'best''.It's as if you've heard it a way too many times before. Can't there be anything beyond that in a Yashraj Film? Saif on stretcher and Saif driving a taxi with a morose dead look make you think about the circumstances that must have driven him into all this. And tears in Rani Mukherjee's eyes have become a regular feature so it fails to bind attention. Even the hookline of the title track 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' carries a heard-before-feel. The parting editing chops in the promo have the same tinge as 'Dhoom 1'. The bikes have been replaced by the racing cars. In the final analysis, 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' theatrical trailer carries the punch. But alas the novelty value is missing. Let's see what the movie has in store'Incidentally it's releasing on April 27th.

But as a result of a bad racing accident, RV is hospitalized for a few months. When he tries to make a comeback, he realizes that he has been mentally scarred by the accident and has lost his edge. His life now takes a turn for the worse and after a string of failures, he is forced to auction his house and move with his family to a run-down Bronx-style neighborhood. However, RV and Radhika decide not to tell their children the truth and construct a skillful masquerade of a reality show where they have to live a poor life in order to win a mythical grand prize. The family struggles to survive a life that they are not used to, using a mixture of fantasy and cheerfulness to pull through in the face of adversity. But an incident forces RV to reclaim the life that was taken away from him. Can he, once again and perhaps for a last time, face down his inner demons on the race track? Can the family remain together in the wake of what could perhaps be their biggest challenge yet?

Through touching stories, Tara Sharma hopes to help people

Actress-anchor Tara Sharma Saluja, who spoke at length to Emraan Hashmi on his experience during his son's cancer treatment phase and how it made him stronger and a better person, says her chat show is an attempt to try and help anyone who may be facing tough times. "The Tara Sharma Show" is in its fourth season, and is aired on Star World and Star World HD. Before inviting Emraan, Tara had read his book “The Kiss of Life”. “I had read Emraan’s book ‘The Kiss Of Life’ cover to cover before our chat and Emraan was very touched that I had as I asked many questions based on what I had read. “The reason to do an episode like this is not just to share touching stories but also to perhaps try and help anyone in our audience who may God forbid be going through similar tough times and hearing these stories could help them and make them know they are not alone and can and will get through victorious,” Tara said in a statement. "If SOAL isn't a superhit, it would be 2007's biggest surprise"

Biggies have just started arriving this summer and though there are at least a dozen of them before the year ends, for the moment all eyes are set on SHOOT OUT AT LOKHANDWALA. With its high profile starcast boasting of names like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Suneil Shetty, Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor, the film is currently the hottest in the trade circles. Says a leading film distributor on condition of anonymity, "SOAL has all in it that makes for a super hit film. Think about the hysteria that Abhishek Bachchan generates today just on his own. And with Sanjay Dutt towering the cast along with Big B, it is surely going to be a 'taali-maar' experience for both multiplex and single screen crowds. Tusshar has a habit of throwing surprises time and again. Remember KHAKEE? And finally Viveik is looking good as he seems to be wearing the same attitude and mannerisms from his COMPANY days. Regarding Suneil, he has never ever disappointed in a multi starrer." He adds, "All this and more makes me so comfortable about the film's fortunes. Believe me, SOAL would take a huge opening weekend for sure and since I am told that the final product is turning out to be highly exciting too, the film would surely sustain well. Leave aside some other so-called biggies arriving this summer, but all said and done, God forbid, if SOAL isn't a superhit, it would count as the biggest disappointment of 2007 so far."

Item numbers weren't a planned move for Chitrangada Singh

After featuring in films like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" and "Yeh Saali Zindagi", actress Chitrangada Singh was seen grooving to "Kundi mat khadkao raja", a raunchy song in "Gabbar Is Back". She says there was no strategy behind choosing an item number. Before "Kundi mat khadkao raja", Chitrangada had done another song for Shirish Kunder's "Joker". "I didn't make any strategy that I would do item numbers. It just came my way. Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali (producer) called me for the song in 'Gabbar is Back' and Akshay Kumar was also a part of it. We came together, I heard the song and I took it as a part of job. So I did it," said Chitrangada, who will perform in Dubai as part of 'Asia's biggest New Year bash'. Chitrangada wants to perform on veteran actress Helen's songs at the event. "It's very difficult to choose one song to perform from so many of her songs. I like to groove on any song of hers. But I would especially like to perform on 'Piya tu ab toh aaja'," she said here. The actress has been seen in films like "Desi Boyz", "Inkaar", "I, Me Aur Main".
