'Taare Zameen Par' is one among those few rare films which came silently and took the whole nation by storm. The film not only became instrumental in getting several teachers and parents to take the talents of their kids more seriously but also to understand what the real meaning of education is. There is no need to say that this visual gem is held close to the heart by almost every movie lover who has seen it. So the DVD of this movie can be called as a memento to get inspired and to think. The function was held on a small simple stage with a blue backdrop with small silver coloured stars pasted on it. The Principal along with some teaching staff and children were present for the function. The DVD was released by the Principal of the institute. Darsheel came in wearing a blue T-shirt and yellow and red jacket. The music directors of the film Shankar Ehsaan & Loy along with Tisca Chopra were also present for the function.

Exit those routine plastic/paper packaged DVD cases, enter a box which could well pass of a garment case! An extremely enticing DVD box which comes with 2 DVDs and an audio CD, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR boasts of a luxury of riches since the viewer has a lot to pick and choose from apart from the film by itself. So there you have an exclusive DVD centered only on the countless special features that Aamir Khan has to offer apart from the background score CD which is a bonus for those who love to be entertained by the haunting score. The special features are indeed 'special' since they do not go through those routine rounds of interviews and Q&A sessions but instead take a viewer through the real 'making of the film'. One of the priceless moments in the DVD pack is the video recording of the first ever audition given by Darsheel Safary. He would certainly love to look at it again a decade down the line! There is extensive coverage on how Aamir Khan saw to it that each and every scene in the film counted and was allowed in the final cut only if it was indeed relevant. Also, it is incredible to see how he actually changed the order of a few sequences or shots to get the right effect on. Aamir also insists on conducting trial views of the film with people outside the industry counts before the release of the film and explains that how some of the sequences in the film were questioned when shown before the theatrical release of TAARZE ZAMEEN PAR. Again, he doesn't bore by going through the technical details of filming the shot but instead talks a lot about the background behind a scene and the way it was envisaged and finally brought on celluloid. Though some of the features as mentioned above have become common place in DVDs coming out of Bollywood in the recent past, what is something entirely new is a panel discussion on children led by Aamir Khan. In this segment, Aamir discusses with four experts about the different difficulties and disabilities that children with dyslexia could have. An engrossing engagement, especially for those viewers who wish to probe deeper into dyslexia and how children could be encouraged to look at different avenues, the panel discussion is indeed one it's kinds. There are quite a few deleted scenes that Aamir takes the audience though frankly hardly a couple of them actually seem to really make an impact. Otherwise majority of them actually appear to be unwanted in the scheme of things and justify their absence from the final cut. What makes the placement of these deleted scenes different from the rest is the fact that Aamir Khan personally takes a viewer through the logic behind a scene being shot and reason for it's ultimate chopping. If majority of features mentioned above are more focused towards adults, for kiddies too Aamir Khan and T-Series have quite a few goodies in store. Whether it is the eye-watering flipbook drawn by Ishaan or a special school diary taking you through the making of the film, the exclusivity factor remains intact. However, what takes the cake are the exclusive prints of final paintings of Ishaan and Nikumbh which are so high quality that they instantly make you preserve them in a photo-frame! The reason behind me talking about all the special features so far and not the film in itself is that there are hardly any movie buffs who haven't seen TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. Connoisseurs of good cinema have appreciated the brilliance of TAARE ZAMEEN PAR and are very much aware about the fact that it is a must watch and must buy. If TAARE ZAMEEN PAR DVD doesn't really make it your shelves, the loss is certainly yours and definitely not of Aamir Khan or anyone else associated with the film! Seattle bows with awe for 'Taare Zameen Par'
This is why this movie produced in the new age Bollywood is considered as an evergreen work with a special status in the history of Indian cinema. Long after its release and rise to be now considered as one of the most insightful, impressive, original and high impact movies of Bollywood, the immortal magic of 'Taare Zameen Par' and the great message it puts forth still melts into the minds of every new viewer who gets the chance to watch it. The touching tale of the dyslexic little protagonist and his transformation with the help of his teacher this time also managed to make the watchers emotional with tears running down the cheeks after the movie had got over. 'Taare Zameen Par' was screened in Seattle, U.S.A, on October 29 for the participants of the annual conference of the International Dyslexia Association. The producer/director and actor of the movie Aamir Khan was also present for the special show which was held in a conference hall using a DVD Projector. Aamir experienced acute apprehensions as unlike the normal viewers, this time the movie was being shown to a crowd which consisted of many experts of dyslexia. All of the perfectionist performer's doubts and worries evaporated once the movie was over. The whole crowd stood up and gave the film a standing ovation. Aamir tells that the experience amazed him and considered as the perfect evidence to show how some films irrespective of the language in which they are made always connect well to the audience world over.
'Taare Zammen Par'- again the winner
With all possibilities if 'Taare Zameen Par' was a contender in the fray for this year's IIFA awards at Bangkok, the event would have benefited more to boost the image of Bollywood. The quality of the picture is the answer if a question comes up as to how that would have been possible. Aamir Khan did not bother to send his successful project to Thailand and the IIFA came, and as usual filled the filmy headlines around the world, thanks to the new found global interest in Indian culture and Bollywood. Although Aamir's directorial venture did no show any interest in being a candidate in the competition, it has decided to be a very serious participant in Thailand and reap the rich benefits that emerged as a direct result of the IIFA in Bangkok. 'Taare Zameen Par' is going to enter the Bollywood history books as the first Hindi film to hit the theatres all over Thailand. There were serious negotiations and discussions going on in the IIFA backyards as the film lovers were glued to their television sets watching the extravaganza. At a meeting of the B-Town film makers and leading Thai film distributors and exhibitors, every one came at a conclusion that till now Bollywood was not able to increase its popularity only because the films were not released with sub-titles or dubbed in the local language and no importance was given to the pre promotion and marketing of the films. And no major efforts were taken till now to attract the Thai people towards the cinema of Bollywood and only the people of Indian community knew and attended the weekend Hindi film shows that have been happening for a long time. PVR Pictures, the co-producers of 'Taare Zameen Par' and Cineplex which is a top multiplex chain in Thailand have joined hands. Discussions are going on to fix the release dates and to decide on how the pre- release promotion campaign should be. The film will hit the theatres of Thailand with sub-titles.
'Taare Zammen Par' creates history
Yet another honour has come for 'Taare Zameen Par'. This time it is not an award that this cult film has clinched. The very fact that Walt Disney has bought the home video rights of the movie is equivalent to any prestigious award. Now 'Taare Zameen Par' can enter the history books as the first Indian film to be bought by major studio in Hollywood. For all the people who keep this film close to their hearts, the video will be a must buy product as it has enough extra footage that will reveal more about the production process and other never before known information. Not only that, a special commentary by Aamir Khan on how the movie was made, behind the scenes recordings, copy of the paintings created by child actor Darsheel Safary and Aamir are the other specialties of the home video. The video will be distributed by Disney in U.S.A, Australia, Canada and U.K.
'Taare Zameen Par' in Tamil?
It is learnt from reliable sources that Aamir Khan is keen in remaking his 'Taare Zameen Par' in Tamil. It is also said that he has chosen director Cheran to direct the film in Tamil. According to a grapevine, the two had recently met in Mumbai to discuss the project. The choice of hero could be either Vikram or Suriya, should the project takes off. It is worth recalling that Vikram has recently expressed his willingness to act in a film like 'Taare Zameen Par'. Since both Suriya and Vikram have handled different and off beat roles with aplomb, one can be sure that they would do justice to the role played by Aamir Khan in 'Taare Zameen Par'.
