'Tamasha' not autobiographical, says Imtiaz Ali

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali says there might be a few moments from his life in his forthcoming film "Tamasha", but it's not an autobiographical. Talking about the story of the film, Ali said: "'Tamasha' has that kind of love which makes a normal person extraordinary, which makes a commoner an artist. This is the kind of love through which you understand why you need a woman in life and how it takes you on a journey through which we identify ourselves." Ali, who got separated from his wife a few years back, believes that personal life incidents and thoughts suggest you the story. But it's not necessary that the story you're portraying will be completely based on your personal life. "There might be a few minor moments from my life in 'Tamasha', which you can see. But on the whole, it's not that this film is autobiographical," he said. He also shared that "Tamasha" as a title suits the film in every possible way. "With 'Tamasha', it's the first time that I have liked the title of my film. 'Tamasha' means spectacle, a scene or a show, something that you watch or something that you enjoy watching," said Ali. "Secondly, 'Tamasha' is always associated with the stage and this film has a lot to do with the stage. What you'll see ultimately is that there is an artist who narrates his stories on stage. So, this title is suitable to the film in every way," added the director. He also considers himself "very fortunate that somehow there was no film made with the title 'Tamasha', which is extremely rare". The "Jab We Met" director has also, with "Tamasha", broken the trend of using English titles after his last two films "Rockstar" and "Highway".

Deepika is Ranbir's muse in 'Tamasha': Imtiaz Ali

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who is gearing up for the release of "Tamasha", says actor Deepika Padukone is Ranbir Kapoor's "muse" in the film. "Ranbir is a story teller in the film. The character of Ranbir in the film is stuck with his routine and monotonous life, and what he wanted to, he could not do until he finds his muse Deepika. Deepika is his muse, inspiration in the film," Imtiaz said. Imtiaz also said that Deepika, who is "shy" in real life, has overcome her shyness on screen. "Deepika in real life is very shy person and it was inhibiting the actor in her but now she has overcome her shyness on screen though she is same shy person in real life," he shared. About Ranbir, Imtiaz said he has the ability to get into the skin of his characters. "Ranbir is someone to whom if you give any character, he will turn into it and when the character is sucked out he is nothing. So during the shooting of 'Tamasha', I did not feel that he is the same actor of 'Rockstar'," Imtiaz said. "Tamasha" will release on November 27.

Was happy, overwhelmed: Ranbir on breakdown on 'Tamasha' set

Actor Ranbir Kapoor says his emotional breakdown on the set of "Tamasha" has been blown out of proportion and clarified that he had only tears of joy on the completion of the Imtiaz Ali-project. Imtiaz had thrown a wrap-up party of their upcoming film "Tamasha" on Saturday night here. Ranbir attended it with his co-star Deepika Padukone and the film's producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Earlier reports suggested that Ranbir and Deepika, who were dating in the past, ended up having an emotional breakdown after the shoot's wrap-up on August 6. However, Ranbir was quick to clear the air once asked about it. "I don't think we got emotional the way it was written (in the media). I think we all were very happy. For me, it was my second film with Imtiaz, my second film with Sajid bhai... and my third film with Deepika. So, I was very overwhelmed because this film 'Tamasha' finished very fast... we never felt the duration of this film," he said. Ranbir also said the team had a lot of fun "while shooting the film" as it was not as intense as his last movie with Imtiaz - "Rockstar".

Deepika, Ranbeer look adorable in 'Tamasha' poster

Ranbeer Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have shared a sizzling on-screen chemistry in all the films they have done together. And now, the poster of Imtiaz Ali's "Tamasha" shows the adorable duo laughing as they walk along with their arms coiled around each other. The poster oozed with great chemistry, cuteness and romance. Various characters from mythology and romantic stories can be seen in the background of the poster, which bears the tagline: "Why always the same story?" "Presenting the 1st poster of TAMASHA releasing 27th November! #Tamasha27thNovember #ImtiazAli #RanbirKapoor," Deepika shared on Twitter on Saturday. Deepika and the "Bombay Velvet" star are reuniting after their romantic film "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" in 2013. "Tamasha" is Deepika and Ranbeer's second movie with the director following the "Piku" actress's outing in 2009 rom-com "Love Aaj Kal" and the "Roy" star's stint as a musician in "Rockstar" (2011). Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala,"Tamasha", is slated to hit theatres on November 27.
