Thamirabarani to flow on Pongal

Vishal's Thamirabarani is confirmed for a release this Pongal. Directed by Hari, the movie went to floors a couple of months ago. Though it was said that Thamirabarani would be released only by February 2007, the director has gone ahead to complete the movie in just 73 days. But for a song sequence, he has completed the shooting. Says director Hari, 'We have completed the entire shooting. Post production works would commence this week and the first copy would be ready by the end of this month.' Vishal, who had back-to-back hits in Chellamae, Sandakozhi and Thimiru, is hopeful that Thamiraparani would fetch him a good name. Among other movies releasing for the harvest festival are Ajith's Aalwar, Vijay's Pokiri, Vijayakanth's Sabari, director Ameer's Paruthi Veeran and Vijaya T Rajendhar's Veerasaami.

Thamirabarani is action plus comedy, says Hari

Director Hari is busy shooting his Thamirabarani at AVM Studios in Chennai. The Vishal-Banu starrer is slated for a release this Pongal. Talking to media persons at the AVM Studios on Tuesday, Hari said,"The movie is an action-packed entertainer laced with humor. Vishal plays Bharani in the movie. The movie deals about events that occur in a strife-torn region in Thirunelveli." Hari was all praise for Vishal. He says that though Vishal started his career as an assistant director, he never interfered in the director's work. He does what the director wants from him. Speaking on the occasion, Vishal said, "I rarely ventured to do comedy in my earlier movies. Thamirabarani has comedy sequences and I hope they have come out well." "Vishal has not disappointed action-lovers either. There are half-a-dozen stunt sequences and all have come out good," he adds. Debutant Banu, a look-alike of Nayantara says, "I am happy to be part of such a big project. Hope my career takes off in the right way." The popular devotional song 'Karpura Nayakiye Kanakavalli' has been remixed in the movie. Meanwhile, the audio of Thamirabharani is ready and will be launched tomorrow.

Thamirabarani in Telugu

Vishal established a place for himself in Tollywood following the huge success of the Telugu version of his Sandakozhi, which released last year. His next, Thimiru, was also dubbed into Telugu and was released all over Andhra Pradesh. It again opened to packed houses. Buoyed by the back-to-back successes, Vishal is now planning to dub and release his Pongal release Thamirabarani. The movie directed by Hari has been titled Barani in Telugu. With the likes of Prabhu and Nadhiya in the cast, Vishal is hopeful of scalping a hat-trick in Andhra. Barani would be released on 2 February. The actor is currently busy with his next Tamil venture, Sathyam, which would feature him in the role of a tough cop.

Banu on Thamirabarani

It was director Hari who introduced Nayantara to Kollywood with Ayya. Now the director is introducing another actor from the God's Own Country, who is almost the look-alike of Nayantara, in his Thamirabarani. The young actor Banu, who made her presence felt in Kerala with Achan Urangatha Veedu last year, is happy to make her debut in Tamil with director Hari's film. She says, 'It is a dream come true debut for me. Starring opposite a popular actor like Vishal in the direction of Hari is a double delight for me.' An out-spoken Banu says, 'Noted Malayalam director Lal Jose spotted me in a cultural show. He assigned me an important character in Achan Urangatha Veedu. The movie won critical acclaims. Hari happened to see the movie and assigned me the lead role opposite Vishal.' Though she is a newcomer, Banu has the opportunity of sharing the screen with veteran actors like Vijayakumar, Prabhu and Nadhiya. 'I learnt a lot working with them. They were very helpful and helped me perform well on the screen,' she adds.
