The shooting for Jeeva's Thamizh MA is on at the temple town of Thiruvannamalai. The movie is produced by M R Creations and is directed by debutant Ram. Jeeva has gone in for a different makeup in the movie and has grown long beard and big moustache. The movie dwells on the neglect of the Tamil language in today's society and demands the same respect for Tamil as is given to English. A new face Anjali is the heroine. At the shoot in Thiruvannamalai temple, a huge crowd besieged Jeeva and sought autograph from him. Director Ram also shot a scene at the Kannappar temple in the Girivalam path amidst the huge crowd.
Thamizh MA completed
Jeeva's Thamizh MA has been successfully completed. The movie starring Jeeva and Anjali in pivotal roles will be released shortly. The movie is directed by debutant Ram. Heaping laurels on Jeeva, Ram says, 'The actor takes on different types of roles and not averse of change of get ups. His growth has been phenomenal, considered to be a safe bet among the younger crop of emerging talents in Tamil cinema. Jeeva has reduced a lot of weight for Thamizh MA and appears in three different getups. His performance is scintillating. Equally attractive is newcomer Anjali. I am confident that the two will not only receive rave reviews for their performance but also awards and accolades'.
Thamizh MA on 28 September
Finally, Jeeva's much awaited Thamizh MA would hit the screens on 28 September. Directed by debutant Ram, expectations are high on the movie for the promos and trailer promise a different fare on the screen. Jeeva is in an upbeat mood, he says, "For the first time, I have played a matured role in the movie. I feel my character has been well etched by Ram with a purpose. It is sure to go down well with the masses'. Equally thrilled is the heroine Anjali. A debutante, she says, 'I cannot get a better introduction in Tamil cinema. I play a tough and a challenging role. All credit to the director for extracting the best from me. I have even dubbed my own voice'. Sources in the unit say, 'The final output has amazed everyone. Hopefully the audience will get a break from clich©d cinema'.
Thamizh MA carries a lofty theme
Thamizh MA, directed by debutant Ram, a one-time associate of Balu Mahendra, starring Jeeva is ready for release. According to Ram, the movie carries a lofty theme. "It is the story of a Tamil postgraduate who is unable to carve a niche for him and the pains he has to undergo in the process. A newcomer Anjali plays opposite Jeeva". Karunaas plays a prominent role while director Azhagam Perumal is also in the cast. Jeeva appears in four different roles. According to Jeeva, "It is one of the challenging roles that I have played in my short career so far. All credits to Ram for conceiving a different storyline. It carries a strong message too". "Yuvanshankar's music is a major highlight. He has brought out the emotions and travails of the male protagonist", says Ram.
Thamizh Desam Units Hunger Strike
When the members of Tamil film industry gathered in a huge number in Chennai for the hunger strike over the issue of Hoganekkal water project, a small unit went on fasting on the same day for the same cause in a different place. The unit of Tamizh Desam, which was shooting in Perambalur, decided to sit on fasting in the shooting spot itself. The cast and crew of the movie went on fasting in front of the Engineering Collage, where the shooting was being held. Everyone including Hero Raghuvannan (son of Manivannan), heroine Varshini alias Aadhira, and director Thamizh Selva raised slogans against Kannadigas in the hunger strike. The protest immediately attracted the attention of the local people and the local units of leading Tamil TV channels. The protest became a sensational one following the gathering of lot of people and the media persons.
Thamizh Padam hero plans towards direction
Young actor Shiva, after getting success with the recent hit ‘Thamizh Padam’, is overflowing with many offers. On stating his interest to become a director and to make a movie just like his ‘Thamizh Padam’, actor Shiva says “Though my focus is on acting at present, I firmly believe acting in films will be my ladder to become a director. I am hopeful that my dream would become a reality one day,” he says with all hope. Speaking about his debutant directorial film he says “I have a script titled ‘Jaangiri Kanavugal’. It is a spoof of Tamil cinema. Everyone loved it. But I am yet to gain confidence to make it a film.” On speaking about his upcoming projects, he says “I am doing ‘16’, a breezy love story. Following that will be a movie by Gayathri-Pushkar, which will be totally different. I am also there in ‘Poochandi’, a filmy by Venkat Prabhu.”
