Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is inspired by S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali: The Beginning" and its team. The film, which hit the screens on July 10 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, is the first south Indian film to enter the Rs.300 crore club in just nine days of its release. "To everyone involved, thanks for the inspiration. You can only reach the sky if you are willing to take the leap!" Shah Rukh tweeted on Sunday. The movie, a mythological drama about two brothers at war for a kingdom, stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The second part in the Rs.250 crore franchise is slated for release next year.
Irrfan thanks foreign fans for 'Piku' success internationally
Actor Irrfan Khan, who has featured in a slew of international projects like “Life of Pi” and “Slumdog Millionaire”, has thanked his foreign audience for leading his latest Bollywood outing “Piku” towards success. "I would like to really thank my international audience for this incredible response for 'Piku'. I'm overwhelmed by the response our movie has got," Irrfan said in a statement. While the film has garnered plaudits from all quarters for being an endearing father-daughter tale, the success of “Piku” is evident even internationally with the film registering a total collection Rs. 27.35 crore overseas, read a statement. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, “Piku” paints the relationship between a father and daughter, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, in an entertaining way, embedding slice-of-life moments in a beautiful way. Irrfan shines in his role as a taxi company owner with his intense acting and quirky take on things. The thing that clicked with the audience is that the movie is for all age groups.
SRK thanks teams of 'Chennai Express', 'Pardes'
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has thanked actress Deepika Padukone, filmmaker Rohit Shetty and the crew of "Chennai Express" on the hit movie's second anniversary. SRK took to micro-blogging website Twitter to thank the team, who worked on the action comedy film, which was released in 2013. "Love to Rohit, Dudley, Vishal Shekhar, @deepikapadukone, Honey, Steven, Nikitin, Satyarajji, UTV RC and the Team for the fun times on Chennai Express," he tweeted. The 49-year-old also thanked the team of 1997 romantic film "Pardes" directed by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, which completed 18 years. "And time to thank Mr Ghai Mahima Kabir Ahmed Sarojji Amrishji Nadeem Shravan and everyone in the film for making Pardes so memorable," he wrote.
Nawazuddin thanks government for honouring Dashrath Manjhi
Calling union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's announcement to release a stamp on Bihar's mountain man Dashrath Manjhi "a great gesture", Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played Manjhi in the recently-released film "Manjhi - The Mountain Man", says he is thankful to the government. The union minister announced earlier this week that a special edition stamp would be released soon to honour Manjhi along with former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. “I feel so honoured to have been a part of this movie. It’s a great gesture from the government and I personally thank them to have bestowed such an honour on a man like Dashrath-ji who single handedly carved the future of his village in a small district in Bihar. I am lucky I got to play a part of this man who is a true hero,” Nawazuddin said in a statement. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the biopic also stars Radhika Apte.
Mika 'thanks' Imtiaz, Rahman for 'Heer toh...'
Singer Mika Singh, who has collaborated with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman for the new song "Heer toh badi sad hai" from Imtiaz Ali's forthcoming film "Tamasha", says he is grateful to the duo for the opportunity. "Thanks to Rahman saab and Imtiaz Ali for offering me such a beautiful rendition, and also Irshad Kamli who has penned down wonderful lyrics for the song," Mika said at the launch event of a Punjabi radio channel here on Monday. The song will feature Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone swinging to the tunes made by the talented trio. "For the first time I am crooning for Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir has done lip-sync with full passion and enthusiasm. Deepika is also looking very pretty in the song. I am contented that people loved the song," Mika said. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, "Tamasha" is slated to release on November 27.
Priyanka 'thanks' everyone for lauding 'Jai Gangaajal' trailer
Actress Priyanka Chopra has thanked all her fans and well-wishers for their reactions to the trailer of her upcoming film "Jai Gangaajal". The actress, who has made her debut in the international TV series "Quantico", thanked everyone on Twitter on Wednesday. "Thank you for all your amazing reactions to #jaigangaajal. It’s an extremely relevant and special film…@prakashjha27," she wrote. Priyanka, who was recently seen in filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani", will be seen essaying a police officer Aabha Mathur in "Jai Gangaajal". Directed by Prakash Jha, "Jai Gangaajal" is slated to release on March 4 next year.
