THE TRAIN now brings sequels to promos

THE TRAIN may have moved its release to June but the promotion has enough ammunition in it to keep it engaged for weeks to follow. The first step in its direction is to now come out with short talkie promos since the songs are anyways doing quite well for themselves ever since they were aired first around 3 weeks back. So what's so special it this, one may ask? Well, the fact is that director duo of Hasnain Hyderabadwaala have cut a series of promos that would actually act as sequels in a particular order. So while the first talkie promo is currently on air and seemingly ends on a slightly abrupt note with Emraan Hashmi getting a mysterious call, the second one to follow soon would be taking on from where the first one left. Similarily the third promo which would arrive after a while would be taking the story forward from the first and second promo and keep the audience guessing. Says Raksha Mistry, "We wanted the promotion to look different considering the fact that entertainment channels this season are flooded with promos of number of films arriving one after another. If we would have arrived in a typical manner, the impact wouldn't have been as massive as we are expecting over next few weeks. It always helps to keep audience looking forward to what next in store rather than opening your cards in the very first go. Just continue seeing what more we have to offer and you would surely be able to understand the connection!'

"THE TRAIN has done what LAGAAN and PARINEETA have done" -Geeta Basra

Geeta Basra is mighty thrilled and is now a bundle of nerves as she awaits the release of her second film THE TRAIN which arrives on June 8th. But before that she is also quite excited about the film's screening at IIFA that takes place a day earlier in Yorkshire. "Isn't it tremendous?" she asks, "I still can't believe that THE TRAIN is being showcased at this platform. I am still waiting for the feeling to synch it that after THE TRAIN is being spoken about in the same vein as LAGAAN and PARINEETA, both of which were earlier showcased at IIFA. Our film has now done what these two films have done to Indian cinema." "I am so anxious about this whole thing; I can't even describe it", says Geeta who has a mysterious role to play in THE TRAIN, "I am sure people are going to have very high expectations from the film now due to the standards that THE TRAIN has set for itself."

THE TRAIN comes with a social message Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi is a busy man. After his 'Good Boy Bad Boy', he has 'The Train' coming this week which would be followed by 'Awarapan' in a few weeks time. Here he talks to Joginder Tuteja about what made him take up 'The Train' with his 'The Killer' directors and how the film not just entertains but also comes with a social messaging. Over to Emraan: People ask me that what attracted me towards working in 'The Train'? Well, let me say that after I worked with Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala in 'The Killer', I realized that here are these two guys who are quite commercially sound and have a knack of pitching to a larger audience. This is why when they came with the script of 'The Train', I knew that the film is for a much wider audience. The kind of characters the film had with the right emotions and drama in place, I knew that it has a potential to click across different segments of the audience. The film is about this man who makes one reckless decision by getting involved with a working woman and his life goes for a toss forever. He looses his job, his wife, his daughter and that one moment of straying away costs him so much in his life that it all seems so unnecessary in the end. He had such a wonderful life to live but one wrong step and he now has a long way to go to repair the damage. All of this is explained so beautifully in the film by the directors. This is why I have complete faith in them as they have doe a very good job in getting the emotions right. The Train' has a kind of story that every man will relate to. Not that it teaches men to do what the protagonist does, i.e. stray away at a given opportunity, but if you and me look around us, we would see something like this happening so often. The film talks about a failing marriage and apart from the social messaging it does, it also entertains. There is this whole new way in which the story is narrated and train plays one of the characters in the film itself. It was quite a challenge for me to be enacting the lead protagonist not just due to the different dimension of the role but also the fact that I was playing a father for the first time. While I have dome different films in the past, most of them have seen me as a college boy or the likes. Whereas here I am required to be this mature man working abroad with a wife of few years and young kid. It was a whole new ballgame altogether. Still, what I like is the overall commercial setup of the script that does have believable characters and situations but refrains from any unnecessary dialogue-baazi. There is no overplay of drama or shouting involved that takes away from the basic essence of the story. Now coming to the way train enters the script. See, this train is what becomes the meeting point of this man and the woman. They meet for the first time in a train and from hereon begins a relationship that only spells trouble for his life. The geography of the train completely dismantles the peace of his own home and life. Some people feel that 'The Train' could be another 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. I tend to believe that the two films belong to completely different genres and have different treatment altogether. Moreover I haven't seen KANK as I didn't have time to catch it so I can't say if there is anything remotely similar between the two films. Well, except for the fact that here too a married man finds solace in a woman from the outside world, I don't see any similarities.

Mithoon's score for THE TRAIN gains overnight popularity

Mithoon has scored a hat trick with the music of THE TRAIN hitting the bull's eye. After contributing to the songs of BAS EK PAL and ANWAR and coming up with superb results, much was expected from the first full fledged soundtrack [THE TRAIN] by the young composer. Well, he hasn't disappointed as his music for THE TRAIN has being accepted whole heartedly by the music lovers. In less than a week since its music launch, the music has entered the Top-10 charts and is registering brisk sales all around. So far the songs on air are 'Woh Ajnabee' and 'Mausam', each of which have made audience sit up and take notice. Coming week would see the arrival of 'Beete Lamhein' while somewhere around the May release of the film, a rocking number 'Teri Tamanna' would be seeing a premier on the satellite channels.

"I would have preferred PIRATES over THE TRAIN" - Raksha Mistry

Known for not mincing any words and speaking her heart and mind out, Raksha Mistry, co-director of THE TRAIN has a shocking, yet hilarious statement to make. She says that if THE TRAIN would have released on the same day as PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN - AT WORLD'S END, she would have preferred to stand in queue for the latter. Laughs Raksha, "Seriously, don't think that I am kidding! Such has been the craze of PIRATES series for me that I can't miss it for anything in the world, even if it means putting my own film at the second position!" But why? "It's simple. Johny Depp is a darling and it is impossible to swap him for anything else. At the end of the day, I am more curious to see what he has to offer in the latest edition of PIRATES than watching THE TRAIN, which I must have anyways watched a zillion times by now", she chuckles! While PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN - AT WORLD'S END releases tomorrow, THE TRAIN comes a week later at the theaters.
