Thudi' an edge-of-the-seat thriller with no hero

Debutant director Ridhun Sagar says his upcoming Tamil film "Thudi", which revolves around five key characters, is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that doesn't feature a hero. Actress Abhinaya plays one of the leads. "The story takes place between 6 pm and 6 am the next day. It takes place inside a five-star hotel and it doesn't feature a hero per se. There are five important characters and the plot revolves around them," Sagar said in a statement. Abhinaya will be seen as a receptionist in the movie. "Her character is very important and she moves the story forward. She's not paired with anyone and carries most of the film on her shoulders," he said. The team is in talks with a popular actor to play an important character.

Esha : Thoda action, thoda emotion

Esha Deol will surprise her fans with some breath-taking stunts in her forthcoming film. Director Anubhav Sinha's movie 'Cash' has Esha doing many action sequences. The actress refused to use a duplicate and insisted on doing her own stunts. Though Esha is not allowed to reveal much about her role in the film, she does spill a few beans. She will be seen delivering high-flying kicks and doing a high-speed car chase. Even though she is adept in driving, Esha had to undergo training under an expert in Cape Town, South Africa, before shooting her action scenes. Esha says she likes action movies like 'Kill Bill' and wishes Bollywood would make more girlie action flicks. Apart from action, she is also showing a new facet of hers as she is being recognised as a switch-off-switch-on actor. They used to say Sridevi was a very shy and quiet person until put before the camera, when all of a sudden she'd undergo a complete transformation of sorts and light up all the moments. Amongst the new breed of actresses, we hardly have many like her, except for a Kajol or Rani Mukherji. But now here comes Esha, which Bollywood can proudly add in the 'switch-on switch-off acting' league of performers. Ever since Esha started shooting for Ram Gopal Verma's 'Darling', the moment the camera rolls, she so effortlessly and spontaneously blends with her character, that everyone around is transported in a different world. And as the director shouts cut, Esha suddenly becomes Esha; the carefree innocent happy-go-lucky girl that she is. Bollywood surely needs more of her kind.

"Rishety koyi guarantee card ke saath thode hi aate hain!" - Irrfan Khan

Post 'Deadline' if you thought that Irrfan Khan may have been lying low then that's far from true. Apart from shooting for his film with Angelina Jones, he is also getting geared up for the release of two of his films 'The Namesake and 'Metro' out of which the latter arrives first. In Anurag Basu's METRO, he mouths a dialogue that depicts the reality of life. In his characteristic style, he makes a simple statement - "Rishety koyi guarantee card ke saath thode hi aate hain!" Enacting the role of a simple man called Debu who works in a radio station, Irrfan plays a character who meets a woman [Konkana Sen Sharma] through a matrimonial website, meets for a date, separates, meets again and then separates again [whew] to leave the stage open for a suspense over whether the two would ever meet. With the kind of situations he goes through in his life, it is only apt for him to utter a dialogue like this!
