Scientists say there are 4 kinds of drunks

If you can "drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk," you're an Ernest Hemingway drunk—and you're in the majority. That's the finding of University of Missouri researchers who broke down the types of drunks into four distinct categories in a study published in the Addiction Research & Theory journal. Scientists surveyed 187 pairs of undergraduate "drinking buddies" from a Midwestern university about their sober and intoxicated states. The findings: the subjects were either a Hemingway, Mary Poppins, Nutty Professor, or Mr. Hyde drunk. The largest group: the Hemingways, which represented about 42% of the subjects. These subjects reported experiencing the smallest decrease in organizational and intellectual skills and are "drinkers who tend not to undergo drastic character changes or experience harms" (meaning you probably won't have to worry about getting kicked out of a bar if you're a Hemingway). Per the Guardian, about 23 percent could be called Mr. Hyde—or Ms. Hyde, since more than half of the subjects who fell into this category were women—meaning they became "particularly less responsible, less intellectual, and more hostile when under the influence of alcohol." One-fifth earned the honor of being labeled the Nutty Professor, meaning they were more introverted before imbibing and became much more gregarious and uninhibited afterward. The Mary Poppinses, which made up about 15 percent of the pool, are "particularly agreeable" after drinking—in other words, the happy, "sweet" drunks who don't cause any trouble. So what was the point of the study, other than having names to attribute to friends while bar-hopping? The researchers say it could lead to customization of alcohol intervention programs based on personality type, Time notes.

Three Horse Race This Friday.

Three movies are releasing this Friday. All of them are totally opposite to each other and with reasonable amount of publicity backing each one of them. The biggest of them is the family entertainer 'Vivah directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the maker of huge hits like 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' and 'Hum Apke Hain Kaun'. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, this journey from engagement to marriage is not carrying good reports. The biggest drawback is the lackluster music score by Ravindra Jain. Mr Barjatya has given family hits earlier but somehow the makers themselves don't sound too confident about their own product which was evident at the recent Press Conference. Although I would want 'Vivah' to work, for Sooraj Barjatya comes across as an extremely amiable and sincere person, but I don't think his film will work. Percept Picture Company has started publicity for Tanveer Khan's 'Deadline' rather late in the day. The date of release was announced rather abruptly and although the promos of this Konkona Sensharma, Irfan Khan, Sandhya Mridul and Rajit Kapoor film seem pacy-n-promising, the film hasn't really created any buzz. The title 'Deadline' may go against the film and even the posters where Konkana's face is superimposed on Irfan's is confusing about the plot of the film. It shall not be taking a good opening and its biggest plus point is its low cost. If the word of mouth is good then it can make a jingling sound for the producer's ears. But that once again is a big 'If'. Lastly, Mukta Arts' comedy film 'Apna Sapna Money Money' is one film that seems the only one that can do some magic at the ticket window. This Sangeeth Sivan (Remember he made the raunchy 'Kya Kool Hain Hum' stars Riteish Deshmukh (As a drag queen and more hilarious get-ups), Shreyas Talpade (red hot after imposter-act in 'Dor'), Koena Mitra, Riya Sen and Celina Jaitley (Ample Oomph Quotient). It's a comedy with club house numbers composed by Pritam. I would bet on this one'. Why don't you guys tell us which film out of the three you would want to watch this weekend. And why!

Three years deal between Reliance and Vinod Chopra

Vinod Chopra Films and Reliance BIG Entertainment have inked a multiple film production deal to co-produce feature films over the next three years. The first feature film under the production deal is a mainstream English language film, BROKEN HORSES, which will be directed by Vinod Chopra himself while the second film is based on the classic Indian tale, TAALISMAAN, to be directed by Ram Madhvani. Chopra's BROKEN HORSES , with a screenplay based on an original story by Chopra himself, is the work of several award-winning writers including Abhijat Joshi (Lage Raho Munnabhai, Eklavya and 64 Squares) and Jason Richman (Bangkok Dangerous, Swing Vote), and legendary BAFTA winner and Academy Award nominated screenwriter and executive producer, Nick Pileggi as script consultant (Goodfellas, Casino and American Gangster). Chopra has recently returned from script and development meetings in Los Angeles and scouting locations in New Mexico. Ram Madhavani's TAALISMAAN is a love story inspired by the epic novel, Chandrakanta, written in 1892 by Babu Devkinandan Khatri, which inter-weaves and mixes intoxicating elements of magic and war. Commenting on the association of Vinod Chopra Films and Reliance BIG Entertainment, Chopra said, 'Vinod Chopra Films is proud to be known for raising the bar in Indian cinema, discovering and nurturing new talent, giving established filmmakers and actors the opportunities to excel in their works and striving for excellence without compromise.
