The history of Tamil cinema can never be written without volumes on the multi-talented multi-faceted Kamal Haasan. Today he starts his 57th year in the industry as his debut film ‘Kalathur Kannamma’ was released on August 12th 1959. The Ulaganayagan is recovering fast from his injury to his leg which required two surgeries and sources close to him reveal that he is itching to get back to what makes him tick – movie making. Efforts are on to acquire the rights of ‘Viswaroopam 2’ from Aascar Ravichandran and release it for Diwali and the master of all things cinema will start shooting his ‘Sabhash Naidu’ in a month’s time.
Gana Ulaganathan as comedian
Srikanth's forthcoming film Kalla Chiruppu Azhaga will go to the floors very soon. Interestingly, Stanley and Srikanth join hands together again after April Madhathil and Mercury Pookal. Bhavana plays Srikanth's ladylove. Gana Ulaganathan plays the comedian in the movie. Stanley says. 'I am pleased at the audience response to Mercury Pookal. The decent run of the movie has created more expectations on us. We have to live up to it in our next venture'. Stanley has decided to package the film and present it as an all out commercial venture. Let's hope the duo team up to render a hit again.
Irandam Ulagam, Selva’s most entertaining film
Critically acclaimed director Selvaraghavan is currently busy with the post-production activities of Irandam Ulagam, his forthcoming film featuring Arya and Anushka in the lead roles. The Period film is undergoing its VFX works by a Mumbai based company. Meanwhile, Selvaraghavan has clarified on the buzz making rounds on the internet regarding the film being the genre of Avatar. The director clarified on the rumors denying the news that Irandam Ulagam that it wouldn’t be like Avatar. “why I have to make movies like avatar or a.o.? They have already been made,” said Selva. “All I could say about #IrandamUlagam is this should be the most entertaining film I've ever done. Just have fun,” Selvaraghavan further added. Harris Jayaraj composed the tunes and the audio will be unveiled on August 3.
Irandam Ulagam audio release on Aug 4
Selvaraghavan directed fantasy film Irandam Ulagam is undergoing post production works and the makers are planning to launch the audio composed by Harris Jayaraj on 4th of Aug. Irandam Ulagam marks the first time teaming up of Harris Jayaraj, Arya, Selvaraghavan and Anushka with each other. Music album of Irandam Ulagam is expected to be a feast to music lovers, keeping in mind the BGM importance in the films of Selvaraghavan. Starred by Arya and Anushka in the lead roles, Irandam Ulagam is first movie of its type and has the lead pair in dual roles. PVP Cinemas has produced Irandam Ulagam and the audio distribution rights are snapped by Sony Music. Makers are planning a sparkling event for Irandam Ulagam audio launch on Aug 4th with the presence of whos and whos of Kollywood.
MGR's 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban' returns in style
Yesteryear blockbuster 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban' starring MGR is all set to revisit theaters in grand style. MGR himself produced the film in 1973 and played dual roles in it. Manjula featured as the heroine. Music was scored by M.S.Viswanathan and the movie went on to become a tremendous hit. The songs and quite a number of scenes were shot abroad in places such as Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. To compete with contemporary films and to showcase it to modern audiences the film is being digitized to bring about cinemascope viewing. The songs are being converted to the DTS format and the climax stunt scenes are being spiced up with computer generated imagery and special effects. The film is set for release in October with 50 prints. The whole idea has been conceptualized by Diamond films and plans are on to do the same technical enhancements for the classics 'Nadodi Mannan' and 'Adimai Penn'. It sure will be refreshing to see these films storm theaters as fresh theatrical releases.
Ilayaraja to compose for Ulaganayagan's next
Maestro Ilayaraja has been roped in to compose music for Kamalhaasan's upcoming movie. He himself has confirmed this news in the recent audio launch function of Wagah movie.Interestingly this film will also have Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti haasan, playing his onscreen daughter role. Directed by Rajeev Kumar of Chanakyan fame, the project will take off very soon on 29th April, at Nadigar Sangam ground.Ramya Krishnan will be playing the lead heroine, in this family entertainer produced by Lyca Productions, who already produce several big budget films like 2.0.
