Manivannan passed away at his residence here following a cardiac arrest Saturday. He was 58. "I still can't believe he is no more. I met him two weeks back in his house and we were discussing about his next project. I used to call him 'appa' (father) because he was like a father to me. I will always remember him as a great human being," Komal said. Komal was hoping to work with him again. "He wanted to cast me in his next project. We met recently to discuss one of his projects that he wanted start next," said Komal. She said Manivannan was absolutely fine when she met him, but he was worried about his wife's health condition. Rambha celebrates her birthday today

The girl who created waves among the adolescents of South India is celebrating her birthday today. Introduced in the film 'Ullathai Allithaa' by director Sundar C. to the Tamil film world, she became a star overnight playing a youthful girl in love. It was a slapstick comedy that also featured Karthik, Goundamani and Manivannan. She maintained the dream girl status for well over a decade often playing a love sick and demure girl. Rambha hails from Vijayawada and was first introduced by Malayalam director Hariharan in the super hit Malayalam film 'Sargam' in 1992. She stormed into the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industries as well and was quick to be identified as the girl-next-door. Rambha filled the void that Divya Bharathi had created with her untimely death. Rambha's resembance to Divya Bharathi landed her with many roles. She has an impressive list of co-stars in the form of Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty and Govinda. She also worked with Kamal Haasan in a comedy flick. Rambha turned producer briefly with the film 'Three Roses' in Tamil starring Jyothika, Laila and herself. The film was inspired by the hollywood flick Charlies Angels. Her performance in the 2007 film in Malayalam titled 'Paayum Puli' was greatly appreciated and won her rave reviews. Right now, word has it that she is concentrating in Bhojpuri films. musicmazaa wishes Rambha a very happy birthday!

Happy birthday to Sundar C

Sundar C, the director of successful films like Ullathai Allitha, Anbae Sivam, Arunachalam and many more films, celebrates his birthday today. The successful director also tried his luck at acting with Thalainagaram and came out with a restrained performance which suited his role to a T. Married to actor Kushboo, he has two daughters Avantika and Anandita. His last film Irandu with Madhavan, Reema Sen and Anushka was also a decent hit and he is one of those directors who know how to package all elements in a film, to make it a commercial potboiler. We wish Sundar C a very happy birthday and many more to come.

Rambha does a Nagma

Rambha has endured a nightmare time in Tamil. But life is more than a dream for her in Bhojpuri, some stray offers in both Tamil and Telugu kept her alive. And then out of the blue, Bhojpuri films happened. Just like Nagma before, Rambha's foray there fetched her very good results. So much so Rambha is now the dream girl there. So far she has six releases there and she is acting three others. Naturally, to capitalize on her popularity, Rambha's old Tamil and Telugu films are being hurriedly remade there. Her Tamil debut movie Ullathai Allitha, a film that set her career on the high trajectory of fame, is also set to be remade in Bhojpuri. Looks like the re-invention of Rambha is well and truly on. After what she had to endure, Rambha certainly deserved this good break
