Manorama, the actress who has been part of generations of Tamil Cinema will be conferred an honorary doctorate by a University in California. Fondly known as 'Aachi', Manorama has acted in over 1500 films and has a rather interesting acting record. She has the unique distinction of acting with five Chief Ministers of Tamilnadu. She acted with Aringner Anna and the present Chief Minister M. Karunandhi in theater. Manorama has often times acted with MGR, Jayalalitha and V. N. Janaki in many movies. Generations of Tamil movie audiences have seen her play various kinds of roles and has especially revered her for pairing up with comedian Nagesh in high voltage comic situations. Manorama ever so graciously entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for acting in most number of films. With the kind of record she has, there is absolutely no competition whatsoever for a very long time to come. Retaining the interest level of audiences over generations truly stems from passion and Manorama is a living example for that. University of Michigan investigating possible norovirus
ANN ARBOR (AP) — The University of Michigan says as many as 100 students have been sick this week with a gastrointestinal illness. The illness caused officials to give an extra scrubbing to the campus pool, which is hosting the Big Ten women's swimming and diving championship, starting Wednesday night. Chief health officer Dr. Robert Winfield says it could be norovirus. That illness is highly contagious and can cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever. Winfield suggests students and staff sing the school fight song, "The Victors," while thoroughly washing their hands with soap and water. It should take 20 seconds.

Country’s first aviation university in Rae Bareli
New Delhi: The first aviation university in the country will come up at Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and its academic session would begin in July next year. This was decided at a meeting Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had with Minister of State for Civil Aviation KC Venugopal and top officials in New Delhi on Monday. The National Aviation University (NAU) would train technical personnel, including engineers, and impart all aviation-related skills to its students. There would be a requirement of close to three million trained personnel in the Indian aviation sector over the next decade, according to independent estimates. The foundation stone is likely to be laid in June and the NAU would start functioning at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udaan Academy (IGRUA) at Fursatganj in Rae Bareli from July next year, the Minister told PTI after the hour-long meet.
Delhi medical college ties up with University of Edinburgh
The Delhi government's Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Edinburgh, Britain, to promote cooperation in research and teaching, Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia said here on Wednesday. "The collaboration between the MAMC and the University of Edinburgh will enable both the organisations to derive synergies from their respective strengths and would benefit students, academicians as also clinical and non-clinical research and treatment," said Walia. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1583, is a world-renowned centre for teaching and research. MUET signs MoU with German University
The management of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Technical University of Germany. According to a University spokesman, under MoU both the universities will establish educational linkage with research activities among the students. Both the universities will also organise workshops and seminars on different topics under the MoU, the spokesman added.
