After 'Veyyil', director Vasantha Balan is all geared up to commence his next directorial venture. His 'Veyyil' starring Bharath, Pasupathy and Bhavana was a commercial hit and was also critically acclaimed. It was screened at various international film festivals. Vasantha Balan is planning his next film for Ayngaran International. When queried, Vasantha Balan, says, 'The story discussion has commenced for my next project. Once the script and the storyline are completed, we would commence the casting'. Plans are on to commence shooting by December. Vasantha Balan is keen to cast newcomers in the lead roles.

Vasantha Balan of 'Veyyil' fame is ready with his next project 'Angadi Theru'. It goes around the story of the life in and round a street. The lead role is portrayed by new comer Magesh, who is a state level volley ball player. He belongs to the lower middle class rung of the society, a face that the director closed in on after screening thousands of other faces. The heroine of this film is Anjali of 'Katrathu Thamizh' fame. Vasantha Balan seems to have liked Anjali's acting skills in the movie and booked her immediately for this film. Anjali seems to have made a mark on the industry with her down-to-earth looks and attitude. The dialogues are penned by Jayamohan, a distinguished writer in this field. Ayangaran international, which is into making the mega movie 'Robot' is producing this simple, realistic, and small-budget film too. Vasantha Balan, who is quite excited by his Cannes experience (because his 'Veyyil' was showcased at the Cannes film festival), is gearing up for the release of 'Angadi Theru'. Vasantha Balan, a former associate of director Shankar, has emerged a director to reckon with in Tamil industry. Though his maiden venture 'Album' disappeared without any trace, he bounced back strongly with 'Veyyil', which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. He is currently busy wielding the megaphone for 'Angadi Theru', a movie featuring 'Thamizh MA' fame Anjali in the lead role. Soon after 'Angadi Theru', Vasantha Balan would be doing a off-beat film for Amma Creations, who is currently producing 'Saroja' directed by Venkat Prabhu .

Vasantha Balan’s ‘Angadi Theru’ gets its release date!
The well–known filmmaker Vasantha Balan’s (‘Veyyil’ fame) forthcoming flick ‘Angadi Theru’ starring Mahesh and Anjali in the lead roles will hit the theatres on March 26. The unit members are eagerly waiting for the release to cash the film in on the summer season. Recently, the censor board stamped the film with ‘U’ certificate. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the film. The beautiful actress Sneha is playing a guest role. Ayngaran International has produced the film while camera has been handled by Richard Maria Nathan and editing is by Sreekar Prasad.
Vasantha Balan getting frightening calls
After showing the unhappy lives of poor youngsters in the classy malls of T Nagar in Chennai in his recently released film ‘Angadi Theru’, director Vasantha Balan has been getting frightening phone calls from strange persons using public telephone booths. Sources say that Vasanth has filed a complaint on this issue to the Chennai police commissioner. They also said “‘Angadi Theru’ which touched the conscience of the multitudes of shoppers visiting T Nagar malls every day is an eye opener for many.” Even the police authorities have taken the labor issue shown in the movie seriously and are in plans to take necessary actions through Labor Welfare courts.
