'Vel' being sharpened....!

Director Hari is busy giving final touches to Vel'. The movie starring Suriya and Asin is expected for release this Deepavali. Asin, who is a busy bee acting in Hindi movies, has managed her time well to play the heroine in the movie. Even before completed the shooting for 'Vel', Hari has commenced work for his next film which would feature Bharath in the lead role. Bharath is currently busy shooting for 'Nepali', in which he dons three roles while he is also acting in 'Killadi'.

Vel to talk Telugu...

Suriya starrer 'Vel', which is doing good business at the box office, is ready to speak in Telugu. According to sources, the dubbing version of the film is titled Deva. Sources have it that the dubbing rights had been bought for a hefty sum by Bellamkonda Suresh, one of the top distributors of Telugu cinema. After the stupendous success of the Telugu version of Ghajini, expectations are high on Suriya-Asin pair. Directed by Hari, Vel has music by Yuvanshankar Raja. Suriya dons a dual role, Lakshmi, Saranraj, Vadivelu and Saranya are also in the cast.

Velu Prabhakaran vs Censor Board

Director Velu Prabhakaran, known for his iconoclastic and radical themes, is waging a battle with the Censor Board after the board members objected to some scenes in his film Kadhal Arangam. Addressing media persons, Velu Prabhakaran said, 'The so called objectionable scenes are important in the movie since they deal with the need for sex education in schools.' He also denied reports that Ilayaraja refused to score music for Periyar since it promotes atheism. 'Ilayaraja had composed music for my movie Kadavul, which denied the existence of God. Hence to paint a bad image on such a talented composer is wrong,' he said. 'I will fight with Censor Board and appeal to the Tribunal Committee to ensure that no scenes are chopped from my film,' he said.

Vellithirai: Recreating magic on celluloid

Fresh from the success of Mozhi, Prakash Raj will commence shooting for his next home production Vellithirai. The movie is a remake of a recent Malayalam hit Udayanu Tharam. The Malayalam film starring Mohanlal and Srinivasan in the lead roles went on to collect huge revenue. It was a spoof on the filmdom itself. Inspired by the storyline, Prakash Raj chose to remake the movie in Tamil. Vellithirai will feature Prithviraj in the role of Mohanlal while Prakash Raj will don the role enacted by Srinivasan. Meena had played the heroine in the original. The Tamil version would feature Gopika in the role. Viji, who penned the dialogues for Mozhi, has been entrusted with the taste of directing the flick. Buzz is that Prakash Raj is planning to complete the movie and release it by September.

Vellithirai: A fresh screen

Prakash Raj is one of the very few film personalities, who have a penchant for creativity. A talent spotted by K Balachander, Prakash Raj proved that he is not just a good actor but also a shrewd producer. His production ventures like Azhagiya Theeyae, Kanda Naal Muthal and Mozhi were off-beat and at the same time money spinners. The films added new variety to Tamil cinema for, they had style and substance written all over them. Continuing his pursuit to churn out clean entertainers, Prakash Raj will commence shooting for his next production venture Vellithirai. A remake of Malayalam hit Udhyananu Tharam, the movie features Prakash Raj, Prithviraj and Gopika in lead roles. Directed by Viji, Vellithirai will be completed in one go and would be released this September. On the film, Prakash Raj says, 'Everyone knows about the lifestyle of actors, actresses and directors, who had succeeded in cinema. But many of us did not know about the other side of the tinsel world, which is full of pains and sorrow. Vellithirai will throw light on that dark side'. Speaking about director Viji, Prakash Raj said, 'The dialogues by Viji in Azhagiya Theeye and Mozhi identified him as a good creator. He will surely make it big as a director in Vellithirai'.

Vellithirai in Bali Islands

Prakash Raj and his crew would be off to quake - hit Bali Islands on Thursday night to shoot for Vellithirai. The movie is a remake of blockbuster Malayalam hit Udayananu Tharam which featured Mohanlal, Srinivasan and Meena in lead roles. The Tamil version features Prakash Raj, Prithviraj and Gopika in pivotal roles. Viji, who penned the dialogues for Mozhi, is directing the same. Vidyasagar is scoring the music. Produced by Duet Films, Vellithirai is expected for release this December. Huge equipments including crane and cameras are being taken on special flight to Bali Islands.
