Now it's confirmed. Kamal Haasan's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is a big hit in Tamil Nadu. After all the delays and controversies, the Gautham Menon directed slick flick is running to packed houses all across Chennai. The news from abroad is also very encouraging. The overseas fans too seem to have given a 'thumbs up' to this police story. The film stands out for Kamal's restrained histrionics, the stylized direction from Gautham, Antony's crisp editing, Harris Jayaraj's gritty music and Ravi Verman's splendid camera work. The other highlight of the movie has Kamal-Jyothika's matured love angle. It is something unseen in Tamil before. In Chennai last week, the film's collections outstripped that of other hits of the season like 23am Pulikesi, Unakkum Enakkum, KANK and Thimiru. Kamal has shown again that class is permanent.

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu completes 100 days
Kamal Haasan's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu has completed a successful 100-day run in theatres all across Tamil Nadu. To celebrate the success, the producer of the movie, Manickam Narayanan, has organised a success meet at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai on 24 December in which senior police officials will take part. Speaking on the movie's success, Manickam Narayanan said, "I am happy that my movie has completed a 100-day run. All credits should go to the team members who worked hard for the movie." He also said that plans are on to commence the Hindi dubbing version of the movie. Meanwhile, the post production for Gowtham's Pachai Kili Muthusaram is being done in Manickam Narayanan's studios.
New hope for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu
With Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu in the limbo, Gowtham Menon has decided to focus on other things in life. Gowtham Menon is now directing Silandhi starring Sarath Kumar, Jyothika and Bollywood star Tabu in the lead roles. Gowtham's Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu starring Kamal Hassan and being produced by Seventh Channel Manickam Narayanan could not make it to the theatres this Tamil New Year's Day because of various constraints. Buzz is that actor Kamal Hassan, apparently satisfied with the way Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu has shaped up has planned to even distribute the movie and have it released. Meanwhile, in a bid to re-compensate Manickam Narayanan for losses he suffered producing Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, director Gowtham Menon is planning to direct another movie for Manickam Narayanan before this year-end. It would star either Suriya or Vikram.
Gowtham to make Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu in Hindi
Gowtham Menon seems to be a restless spirit. His Pachai Kili Muthucharam has just released and is doing well at the box-office. Still, he is not complacent and is busy with his next project. He is currently working on the script and dialogues of Varanam Ayiram which will star Suriya. The movie is taking time to roll on, as Gowtham was slowed down by his father's illness (he passed away recently). Meanwhile, Gowtham has also decided to take his Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu to Hindi. The movie will be made in Hindi with Gowtham himself directing it. The hero and heroine are yet to be finalized. Gowtham had earlier made his Minnale in Hindi as Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein with Madhavan and Diya Mirza in the lead roles. Now, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu would be an altogether different kettle of fish, he says.
Light at the end of tunnel for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu
Ever since Kamal Hassan and director Gowtham announced their decision to commence Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, it has seen nothing but only problems. The movie's producer changed and the baton passed from Khaja Mohideen to Manickam Narayanan. Even he could not succeed in his attempts to have the movie released. Planned for 14 April release, it could not grace theatres owing to series of troubles. Buzz is that Manickam Narayanan had taken all extra efforts to settle the debts of Khaja Mohideen, which was a stumbling block for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu's release. Having cleared all the problems, Khaja Mohideen now waits for Harris Jeyaraj to complete the re-recording and Kamal Hassan's arrival from US to do the dubbing. If things go as per Narayanan's plans, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu would grace theatres next month. It is said, the film will release on June 6th.
