Actor Raghuvaran was playing the prominent role in Susi Ganesan's 'Kanthaswamy'. However his sudden demise left the crew of 'Kanthaswamy' shattered. The team was looking out for a right replacement. Finally reports suggest that Raghuvaran has been replaced by Bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthy. Scenes involving Raghuvaran which were shot a few months ago are being re-shot with Ashish Vidyarthy. 'Kanthaswamy', produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, features Vikram, Shriya and Vivek in key roles. A major portion of the movie is being shot in Mexico. Devi Sri Prasad has scored music for the movie.

The average running time of Tamil feature films has seen a reduction in recent years. Probably due to over exposure to International films, Tamil film audience. especially the youngsters of this age of digitization have started giving more preference to films with a shorter running time. As a result, except the films of top stars catering to their fan base, almost all other films have an average running time between 2 to 2 1/2 hours. We also get to see a marked increase in Tamil films with a running time below two hours. Some Tamil films even come with a running time of 100 to 105 or 110 minutes. Director Manikandan's debut film 'Kaaka Muttai' that released last year had a running time of just 109 minutes (one hour and 49 minutes) and it became a blockbuster. Vijay Sethupathi's maiden production venture 'Orange Mittai' running time was 114 minutes while the length of director Vetrimaran's National award winning classic flick 'Visaranai' was 118 minutes. Now Manikandan is all set to create another revolution with his upcoming release 'Kutrame Thandanai' scheduled to hit the screens this Friday(September). Probably for the first time or at least as the rarest of rare occasions in the history of Kollywood, this film will have a running time less than 100 minutes. The advance bookings of the film have started and the theaters list the running time of the film as 99 minutes. Yes, you have to believe that the film will just take one and a half hours and nine minutes of your time...!!! If this isn't revolutionary what is ??? All the above-mentioned films have done away with songs.Yes, Tamil cinema is inching closer to reality day by day.
Bharathiraja, Vidharth team up for new Tamil film
Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, who was last seen in a pivotal role in Tamil thriller "Pandiya Nadu", is busy shooting for a yet-untitled Tamil project that also features actor Vidharth. "The team has been shooting for the last two weeks in Chennai. Director Bharathiraja has a very crucial role, much different than what he played in 'Pandiya Nadu'", a source from the film's unit told. The film is being directed by debutant Mukilan, the winner of the third season of reality show "Naalaiya Iyakkunar". The team is still on the lookout for the leading lady.
