The one problem of having a successful father in the industry is that you will always be compared with his works. Vishnu understands this feeling very well. His career, despite his honest efforts, has not really taken off. So it is unfair to compare his work with his phenomenally successful father Mohan Babu. But Vishnu may measure up to his father if Asthram delivers what it promises. It hopes to provide wholesome entertainment in a complete package. Directed by the redoubtable Suresh Krishna (he knows a thing or two about blockbusters having directed the likes of Kamal and Rajini before), Asthram is a powerful movie. The movie features the luscious Anushka. It has Bollywood hulk Jackie Shroff in a pivotal role. The film's talkie part is over and the movie will have its release in April. Also in the cast are Sarath Babu, Sumalatha, Rahul Dev, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao. S A Rajkumar has provided the music. Supreme Music Raju Hirwani is the producer.
Vishnu gets a move on
Whether Asthram is a hit or not is a moot point. But there are plenty of good things in it for Vishnu to take heart. For instance, the young man has shown lot of improvement in his histrionics. He is no longer gawky or self-conscious in front of the camera. His dialogue delivery too has matured. Though he needs to cut down on his girth, Vishnu has shown more promise than ever before. Reflecting the good times for him, Vishnu has his hands full for the next several months. First his Dhee is getting ready pretty fast. Directed by Srinu Vytla, the movie will be another action-packed venture. Then he has Game, which also stars his famous father Mohan Babu. That would be a film to watch out for. Meanwhile, the indications are that the new hot shot producer Lagadapati Sridhar may get down to making a movie with Vishnu. Though the discussions are at a preliminary stage, indications are that the producer wants to do a film with Vishnu. If everything works as per schedule, the movie may even go to the floors as early as the end of this month.
Vishnu happy at good response to 'Game'
Manchu Vishnu Vardhan Babu, who played hero in 'Game' along with his father Mohan Babu produced in their home production Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, is happy at the success of the film. Vishnu says, 'I predicted that it would be a definite good film. Because it is different from routine, I am sure that the audience would like it. Though it is necessary for a hero to prove himself as a mass hero, he should also prove himself as a good artiste. While my recent release 'Astram' gave him the mass hero image, 'Game' brought a good name as an artiste. In fact, I faced some stress while acting with my father, but it soon went off as the entire unit is known to me since my childhood. Moreover, the director shot shorter scenes that come in the film with my father and me. Though I am afraid to deliver dialogues while staying along with my father. However, he patted me on my shoulder and encouraged me. However, I got compliments that I played on par with my father. Though it is not fair to equate me with my father's stature, those compliments really made me happy. In the same way, I am a child when Sobhana played heroine in our banner. She also complimented me that I did well in the film. I am sure that my next film 'Dhee' would also earn me good name as an artiste'.
Vishnu's next flick from May
Vishnu, son of Dr Mohan Babu, entered into films with 'Vishnu'. Though he played in a couple of films, he is yet to get the expected break. Now Dr Mohanbabu is planning to produce a film with his elder son Vishnu as hero on the banner of Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures under the direction of K Vijayabhaskar, who gave big hits like 'Nuvve Kaavali and Nuvvu Naaku Nachav'. Presently story discussions are in progress. The film is likely to be launched in May. As of now, Vijayabhasar is busy with his film 'Classmates' which is slated for release in May, while Dr Mohanbabu is also busy in producing 'Raju Bhai' with his younger son Manoj as hero, besides his own project, 'Yamadonga'. So the film in Vishnu, Vijayabhaskar and Mohanbabu combo would begin after both the producer and director become free. Meanwhile, Vishnu's film 'Dhee' is also ready for release.
Vishnu hits success with 'Dhee'
Directed by Sreenu Vaitla and produced by Mallidi Satyanarayana Reddy on the banner of Siri Media, 'Dhee' (Kotti Choodu) with Vishnu, son of Padma Shri Dr Mohanbabu and Genelia in the lead was released recently and achieved a huge success. Mohanbabu visited the main theatre in Hyderabad where 'Dhee' is being screened and shared the happiness of success with the audiences. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohanbabu says, 'The main reason for the success of this film is the audiences. After that it was director Sreenu Vaitla and writer Kona Venkat, as they did a very good job. Especially, Brahmanandam's comedy was superb. I thank all my fans for encouraging my son as they encouraged me earlier. This is the major hit in Vishnu's career. I wish all his future films would also be welcomed by you. Not only Vishnu, every artiste and technician who worked for this film gave their best.'
Vishnu to do a UTV film
Vishnu is being hotly pursued by the filmmakers post Dhee. He is doing a home production Krishnarjuna which will be completed by January ending. Then, news is that he will start shooting for a film for UTV which will be directed by Ramana. UTV which has entered the Telugu market with Athithi, is planning to make more films given the wide market that the Telugu industry provides. The film will be produced by a well-known production house, it is being said. Bhavana, a Malayalee heroine is likely to play the lead opposite Vishnu.
