More news →Vivah music comes in 3 packages
Rajshri Productions is going all out to ensure that the music of their upcoming release 'Vivah' is a success. Going by the way they are marketing their product by coming up with an effective packaging, they may as well be! This is because the songs for this Ravindra Jain written and composed music doesn't just come in a conventional CD and cassette format. Instead it comes in multiple packaging. One of them is a regular single CD/cassette format that we have been witnessing for all the musical releases. The second is a special collector's edition that is a 2 CD pack. While one of them comprises of the songs from the film, the second CD is titled "Exclusive Badhaee Ki Shehnaiyan" which has tunes by the late Ustad Bismillah Khan! For classically inclined, there couldn't have been a better gift. But hold your breath for the third offer in place! In order to fight piracy, the makers have come up with a MP3 version of the music which not just has the songs from 'Vivah' but also has 40 other Rajshri hits from the past! And all that an affordable price that is slightly more than the cheap pirated CDs thrown open on pavements. A smart marketing strategy at least, now one waits to see the audience reaction to the music of this Shahid Kapoor-Amrita Rao flick!
'Vivah'/'ASMM' benefit in Delhi/UP due to 'Dhoom 2' release issue
Dhoom' 2 hasn't released in multiplexes across Delhi, UP and regions of Haryana and the films that seem to benefit most from the situation are 'Vivah' and 'Apna Sapna Money Money'. While patrons are still flocking the single screen theatres in these states, there is still a large section of unsatisfied audience that is addicted to watch their movies in multiplexes week after week. And for this section of audience, there is a choice to pick between 'Vivah' and 'ASMM'. Also notable is the fact that 'Vivah' has maintained terrific collections in the 2nd week and the momentum seems to be in the right direction even in the 3rd week. With not much competition up North at least in the multiplexes, the film is obviously going to benefit a big deal there.
Vivah girl learns dancing
Dancing seems to be flavour this season. With shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, almost half the television industry are on a dancing spree. News is that even 18 year old Amrita Prakash (she played Amrita Rao's cute younger sister in Sooraj Barjatya's 'Vivah' recently) also joined dancing classes to learn the stimulating Cha Cha Cha. Amrita who hates to work out in a gym thought this is one way to keep her body in check. And it's been just 10 days but she already hooked on to it. 'I love dancing, and Cha Cha Cha is just really exciting. I'm glad I joined these classes, now that am free and have some time on me,' she says. Amrita has earlier hosted shows like Fox Kids and Kya Masti Kya Dhoom. And she would like to host a dance show next.
Shahids Vivaah Not Well Planned
Shahid Kapoor is a fine actor and a fantastic dancer. But somehow he hasn't been able to get the role of a lifetime still. His debut flick 'Ishq Vishq' established him as one of the most promising youngsters around. The bond with Kareena Kapoor may have earned him lots of envious glances and brickbats too, yet, Bebo doesn't seem to be lucky for Pankaj Kapoor's talented son. For except for a stray multi-starrer '36 China Town' or a moderate success 'Chup Chup Ke' Shahid hasn't seen big time success. It was being said that his tryst with Sooraj Barjataya's Prem in 'Vivaah' shall make him hit the jackpot. But if the songs of 'Vivaah' are any indication of what is going to follow, then his luckless days are going to continue. With due regards to the experience of Ravindra Jain, I don't think it made sense to take him on a music director in a film starring Shahid who is known to have a lover-boy-dancer image. Moreover, how can you even think of Udit Narayan doing playback singing for Shahid. It's just not gelling. It seems Shahid will have to wait for a while before he can really stake a claim for being amongst the Most-Wanted in Bollywood. And he deserves to be there amongst the best.
Is Vivaah Sooraj Barjatyas Last Chance?
It's disheartening to note that the man who has given two of the biggest hits of Hindi Cinema is awaiting the release of his next film with very little buzz doing the rounds. Sooraj Barjatya is an institution whom even Karan Johar considered as his guru. But the maker of 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' and 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' is almost a non-entity as 'Vivaah' is up for release. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, this one ought to have been a biggie but with its music being a total disappointment, people are more keen on 'Apna Sapna Money Money' (Releasing the same day) than 'Vivaah'. Sooraj's last film 'Main Prem Deewani' was a loser while the one before 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' couldn't repeat the magic of his earlier two blockbusters either. Some people say that his style of storytelling is obsolete and he needs to reinvent himself if he wants to remain in the hunt of the big league. What goes against him is the fact that his hero Shahid Kapoor, in spite of being a fine actor and a terrific dancer, can not be bracketed with Salman, Hrithik or Abhishek (His earlier heroes). Moreover Shahid-Amrita pairing has given several duds including 'Wah Life Ho To Aisi' and 'Shikhar'. It seems an uphill task for Sooraj Barjatya's fledgling fortunes with 'Vivaah'. The story of engagement to marriage has to be really out of the box to click in an era of 'Rang De Basanti', 'Dhoom' and 'Munnabhai' where innovative storytelling or scintillating action is the order of the day.
Dialogues promo review - VIVAH
Sooraj Barjatya's next film after 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon', 'Vivah', is round the corner and the dialogues promo of the film is out. Though the songs haven't really meant with an encouraging response by the film lovers, the latest promo is expected to turn the tide for the film since it boasts of a good emotional quotient. The promo's prime sequence is the one where Anupam Kher explains the virtue of marriage to his son Shahid Kapoor. He tells him that a girl like Amrita Rao coming in his life would mean a lot since she would be like a 'prerna' [inspiration] for him. Marrying a simple yet intelligent girl like her would bring a lot of good fortune to the household since that would result in doubling the happiness and eradicating the ugly moments. Cut to Lata Sabharwal, who plays Shahid's 'bhabhi' in the film. She is shown talking about the beauty of courtship period since that's the time that brings along some of the most divine moments between an engagement and a marriage. This pretty much establishes the essence of the film. Apart from all these sharing of values, there are some light moments aplenty in the films, as indicated by a visibly happy Shahid who declares to Amrita that he would make it a point to visit Madhopur [Amrita's home town] at least a month a year and stay in her house, come what may! And people be damned if they called him a 'ghar jawaai'! Interspersions of portions from the songs, scenes like Amrita serving food to everyone, the young ones walking the garden - everything has been done in a tender way which is quite characteristic of a Sooraj Barjatya style of narration. There are moments of heartfelt talks too when Amrita, in a beautiful getup, confesses candidly to Shahid that when he would come with his 'baraat' to her place, 'saari rotiyan jal jaayegi'! Why? Because all the girls in her neighborhood would drop everything mid-way, including cooking, and just stare at his persona! Just when one thought that Vivah is yet another film from the house of Barjatyas about relationships, virtues and tender moments comes a twist in the tale. There is a shot of a burning house when the marriage celebrations are under process and real shocker comes in the form of a bride's 'palki' being carried away from the fire! What has gone wrong? Does the film meet its conclusion with the tragedy? Or does the story build from here mid-way through the narration? Is it a simple film about families or there is more to it? Come November 10th and we should have all the answers as the film releases all over. The film also stars Alok Nath, Seema Biswas, Sameer Soni and Manoj Joshi in principal roles.
