Wake Up 'Thikka'!

Senior actor Venkatesh's 'Babu Bangaram' is going to hit the marquee this Friday amidst huge expectations. As the trailers impressed the audience big time, trade experts say that this film will be a successful venture. But, Sai Dharam Tej's 'Thikka' which is competing with Venky's film is suffering from low promotions. The entire focus is on 'Babu Bangaram' that 'Thikka' is completely ignored. The advance booking of both these films shows the difference. Though Sai Dharam scored two bback-to-back hits with 'Subramanyam for Sale' and 'Supreme', the expectations are quite low on 'Thikka'. The makers need to take care of promotions as films like 'Manamantha' which got positive talk is suffering from poor collections due to low publicity. But, the team 'Thikka' are pretty confident on the film's content. The film is directed by Sunil Reddy, who delivered a disaster like 'Om 3D' earlier. Thaman's music too got good response. We need to wait till 13th to know what happens.

Leaked Snapchat images should serve as a wake-up call to users, expert says

The vast haul of Snapchat images obtained by hackers in a breach discovered last week should serve as a massive wake-up call to consumers, warns an expert, noting that users may have been lulled into a false sense of security. “More clearly needs to be done to remind Snapchat’s millions of users – many of whom are teenagers – of the dangers of sending intimate images that may later leave them humiliated or embarrassed if shared with unauthorized parties,” wrote Oxford, U.K.-based computer security expert Graham Cluley, in a blog post Monday. “As has been known for some time, there will always be ways for Snapchat images to be preserved by recipients – even if you were hoping they would expire and delete themselves a few seconds after being viewed.” The leak, dubbed “the Snappening,” could involve up to 200,000 images, according to media reports, which say that the collection may contain images of child pornography. The files were reportedly posted online via fake website viralpop.com, which installed malware on computers trying to download the images. Viralpop.com is no longer available online. However, at this stage, specific details of the hack have not yet emerged. In a statement, Snapchat -- which reports having 100 million monthly active users -- said that it was not the source of the breach and that its servers were never hacked. Instead, Snapchat blamed the leak on unnamed third-party apps used to send and receive messages, or Snaps, a practice that Snapchat’s terms of use prohibit. "We vigilantly monitor the iTunes App Store and Google Play for illegal third-party apps and have succeeded in getting dozens of these removed," said Snapchat, in its statement emailed to FoxNews.com. News reports suggest that the images were taken from a now-defunct website called Snapsaved.com. In a statement posted on Facebook, Snapsaved.com said that it was hacked, citing a misconfiguration in its Apache server. However, the website denied the rumor that a Snapsaved.com dictionary index was made public. Snapsaved.com said that it took prompt action on discovering the breach. “As soon as we discovered the breach in our systems, we immediately deleted the entire website and the database Associated with it,” it explained, in its statement. “As far as we can tell, the breach has effected 500MB of images, and 0 personal information from the database.” Snapsaved.com added that it has always fought child pornography, noting that it has even reported some of its users to the authorities in Sweden and Norway. In his blog post, Cluley said many of Snapcat’s users may have been lulled into a false sense of security, “believing the marketing propaganda that suggests images will be safely erased forever within ten seconds.”

US toddler dies in wake of tornado, toll at 37

A two-year-old girl who was found barely alive amid the bodies of her parents and siblings after horrific tornadoes hit the United States, died Sunday after a 48-hour fight for life. Angel Babcock was discovered in a field near her family's home in New Pekin, southern Indiana after Friday's horrific weather and was taken to hospital in neighboring Kentucky where her condition was initially described as critical. The two-year-old, who becomes the 37th victim of devastating weather that pummeled the country on Friday, had lost her parents, two-month old sister, and three-year-old brother in the storms. Relatives from her extended family, however, chose to turn off the toddler's life support system on Sunday afternoon, Kentucky Coroner Bob Jones told CNN. Emergency officials in Indiana confirmed the child's death and said she was the state's 13th fatality, revising down an earlier higher toll of 14. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels earlier commended action taken before the storms as well as subsequent efforts to support those affected.

Guards checking bags, cameras that work: Bangkok security looks more serious in bombing's wake

BANGKOK – Bangkok's laid-back, anything-goes vibe has toughened a bit in the aftermath of last month's deadly bombing in the heart of the city. Security appears tighter, with a more conspicuous contingent of police, soldiers and plainclothes officers patrolling and guarding tourist areas and public places that attract crowds. Private security has changed as well. Mall entrances have long had guards and metal detectors, but at some of them, shoppers routinely set off alarms without even needing to slow their stride. Now, security officers are actually checking bags. Most upscale hotels are using mirrors on sticks to check underneath cars. One lesson learned from the Aug. 17 bombing at the Erawan Shrine, where 20 people were killed and more than 120 injured, is that Bangkok's security cameras need upgrading. City workers have been tackling that job at many intersections. Footage from cameras at the shrine have led police to several suspects, whose faces are plastered on wanted posters, in newspapers and on highway billboards around the Thai capital. Two men have been arrested.
