Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been signed by producer Bhushan Kumar to star in the Indian adaptation of Hollywood romantic thriller "Before I Go To Sleep", which starred Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. The film, which is expected to go on the floors in September this year, will be directed by Vipul Shah, who has made films like “Namastey London”, “Waqt: The Race Against Time” and “Aankhen”. “Before I Go To Sleep”, which released in September 2014, was based on a book with the same name by author S.J. Watson. Vipul Shah has bought the rights to adapt the film. “I was keen on working with Saif Ali Khan and had signed him already and was looking for a script. Vipul came to me with this story and I thought Saif fit the role and it was great that he agreed to be a part of it. He is an actor who moulds himself with every character he plays with ease,” Kumar said in a statement. Vipul said: “Saif is a great actor. He is versatile and while he has this lover boy quality, he can easily and comfortably also move into an intense part of the film.”
Shefali quits 'Three Stories' for kids education
Actress Shefali Shah, who was last seen in Zoya Akhtar's "Dil Dhadakne Do", had to "backout" from Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani's production film titled "Three Stories" as her children's education is keeping her busy. "I was going to do 'Three Stories', but at the same point, there was a very big shift on a personal level. My children are probably moving to the US, so this happened exactly at the point when I was starting the shoot," Shefali told. The 42-year-old says that the shooting for the film had to start shooting in "January and Feburary" and at the same time she had to "finish of with her (childrens) admissions by Feburary and March". "So it was just not possible for me," the "Waqt: The Race Against Time" actress said. Shefali, who ventured into Bollywood in 1995 and has acted in movies like "Monsoon Wedding" and "Gandhi: My Father" says that she wouldn't have been able to do complete justice as a mother or an actor if she had taken up the film. "I wouldnt have been doing complete justice as a mother as well as an actor. So I had to backout of it," Shefali said.

Akshay Kumar looks back at 'Holiday' success with pride
Actor Akshay Kumar is proud that a film like "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty", which focuses on terrorism and sleeper cells, managed a successful run at the box office. He is also glad that the makers chose a "commercial comedian" like him to portray a "heavy serious role" of a soldier. "Holiday...", released earlier this year, acquired a hit status in a year when there aren't that many successful films happening. Akshay has another view. "Excuse my bluntness, but the triumph of 'Holiday...' has nothing to do with whether other films are running successfully or not...It has everything to do with the fact that such an honest, admirable film, was recognised by friend and foes, audience and critics the world over, and was admired and appreciated for all it's worth. "That is what makes this wonderful blockbuster commendable," he said. Initially, some of the skeptics had tried to write off the movie, directed by A.R. Murugadoss. "'Holiday...' has fought against all odds, from schedules, to accidents and injuries. I couldn't be happier for the makers and creators. We all did well with this one," said Bollywood's beloved 'khiladi', who featured with Sonakshi Sinha in the movie. "Holiday" was a mood-change for your career, considering it's comedies that you are most solidly identified with? "My place will always be with action and comedy, it's where my heart is, and that's where and when my blood pumps. But my ambitions as an actor will never stop growing. "Making films like 'Holiday...' inspires me to step out of my comfort zone with confidence, because deep down you know at the end of the day, no matter what the outcome, you know this project is worthy," he said. Now post "Holiday...", Akshay will be seen in a comedy titled "Entertainment". Did "Holiday" seem risky? "I'm grateful to those that took the chance with me, and chose a 'commercial comedian' to portray such a heavy serious role. I may have been around for a while, but there is competition out there everyday and everywhere. "It will always feel damn good to know you're wanted for roles that can change many people's paths in life." "Holiday" was presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Vipul Shah, with whom Akshay has given hit films like "Namastey London" and "Waqt: The Race Against Time" in the past.
Small stunts can also kill you: Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar has jumped off a building’s terrace and engaged in a violent fist fight for his forthcoming film "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty". But he believes that small or big, one needs to be cautious while doing any stunt as it can be fatal. When asked if agile body, sharp memory and rational mind are required for doing risky scenes, he told IANS: “I agree, but it’s not just for difficult stunts. Even a small jump from a stool requires all of that. We can’t take small stunts for granted because the biggest stunt doesn’t get you hurt. It’s the small stunt that can kill you.” For the forthcoming actioner, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the makers roped in popular British stuntman Greg Powell, known for his work in Hollywood's super hit franchises such as "Harry Potter" and "James Bond", to ensure that each stunt is executed well. And Akshay says that the action sequences will certainly surprise the audience. “My director loves realism. That’s why when you will see the fight sequences, you will be surprised. It’s all real fight. I got to do AKIRU (a form of martial art),” said the 46-year-old, who plays an army officer in the film. The realism doesn’t end with a few action moves. He says that the entire movie, shot in Mumbai and the capital, was filmed outside studios. “We have not even entered a studio for the film. All were shot in real locations. The director refused to go near studio for the film. It was great working on real locations because it’s not easy when public is there but we did manage everything,” said Akshay. He goes on to say that even when the film's producer Vipul Shah suggested to shoot in a studio with a fake ship, Murugadoss refused. “We did a climax on a ship. The director wanted to shoot on a real ship. It was little difficult to get permission to shoot on ship but we got it for a few days,” said the actor, who has often collaborated with Shah. The two came together and gave blockbusters like "Waqt - Race Against Time", "Singh is Kinng" and "Namastey London". “The kind of films he (Shah) makes is the kind that I also like. We get along very well. That’s why we succeeded in making six to seven films by now,” said Akshay. Akshay may lead the cast of the film, but he feels Murugadoss is the hero of “Holiday…”. Akshay is all praise for the “Ghajini” director and gives a lot of credit to the latter for the way the movie has come out. “I met them (police officials and families) for a while but Murugadoss has been in touch with them for the last three years and tried to get whatever he could to incorporate in the film, so he did more homework than all of us put together,” he said. “The whole film is dedicated to the Indian Army. The subject i.e sleeper cells that’s the highlight of the film. We think we know terrorism but how they operate is the best highlight of the film and the biggest USP is my director. He is the hero of the film,” he added. Presented by Reliance Entertainment, "Holiday..." will hit theatres June 6.
