More news →Arshad Warsi - 5 releases in 9 weeks
When it rains it pours. And for Mumbaikars, this needs to be taken in a literal sense, courtesy heavy rains all over! The actor never had it so much happening in such a short duration, as far as his films arriving at the box office was concerned, as he sees 5 of his films releasing one after another in just more than two months time. Still, that should not be too much of a worrying thought for this versatile actor since each of them boasts of a different subject and looks like a success in the making. First to come would be 'Golmaal', a laughter outing that arrives on July 14. A multistarrer directed by Rohit Shetty, it looks like a safe bet. Next to arrive would be 'Anthony Kaun Hai' that releases a fortnight after 'Golmaal' i.e on July 28th. Another comfortable success in the offering, this Raj Kaushal directed film is an action/comedy/thriller/suspense, all rolled into one, as he pairs with Sanjay Dutt in this film which is poles apart from the Munnabhai flicks. As if destiny had a hand in the proceedings, his REALLY long in the making 'Zamaanat' too comes 3 weeks from 'AKA' i.e. on August 18th. With the way movie business has been booming this year, one never knows if 'Zamaanat' turns out to be a dark horse, especially with Big B in it, though chances of success are remote but not negligible. Well, this is not all as Arshad hardly would be having time to breathe with every fortnight bringing him on the screens. That's because the release date of his much anticipated 'Lagey Raho Munnabhai' has been confirmed for September 1. This Raj Kumar Hirani film has everything to make it a potential hit and hence give Arshad all the reasons to smile. Surprisingly another flick of it for which the release date should have been announced by now is nowhere being heard after an initial publicity blitzkrieg. The film is none other than Yash Raj Films' 'Kabul Express', the promos of which arrived with a bang a few weeks back. This is yet another film slated for a September release, hence making it 5 films in around 9 weeks for Arshad Warsi. Kya ye dil really maange more?
Juhis Waaris Shah For Berlin Festival
Juhi Chawla has reasons to smile that magnetic pearly. Her forthcoming Punjabi film 'Waaris Shah-Ishq Daa Waaris', co-starring Gurdas Maan and Divya Dutta has been chosen for the Berlin Film Festival (Asia Pacific 2006). It is the only entry in this category. After 'Bas Ek Pal' a film based on urban relationships, Juhi is starring in a period film which is based on the life of Waris Shah, the legendary sufi saint who wrote the timeless love story 'Heer Ranjha'. This film is directed by Manoj Punj and Juhi is very excited about her role in the film.
Meet Arshad Warsi - the master of disguises
Arshad Warsi is perhaps enjoying the best phase of his career post Munnabhai. And now with 'Golmaal', 'Anthony Kaun Hai' and 'Kabul Express' coming one after another, going couldn't have been better for the actor. With interesting roles to play in his upcoming films, he chooses to be a master of disguises in 'Anthony Kaun Hai', a comic thriller. In the film he plays an conman who has changed his identity on numerous occasions. And guess how has that been quantified for the sake of audience? With the number of underwear changed by him! This is how the character of Arshad is described in the film's publicity: "Meet the only ace conman who's changed his identity more than his underwear...." Are you already looking forward to the film!?
Alia Bhatt warns against fake 'Highway' pictures
Alia Bhatt has warned her fans against "random" pictures of her forthcoming film "Highway", which are doing the rounds on internet. Alia, who made her debut with Karan Johar's 2012 movie "Student Of The Year", will star opposite Randeep Hooda in the Imtiaz Ali film. "There's some random image doing around from 'Highway' that isn't authentic at all! That is not me or Randeep in that picture," Alia posted on Twitter. "Stills from the film will be out closer to the release probably. So please don't fall for these fake images," she added.
Mukesh Khanna to quit 'Waaris'
Actor Mukesh Khanna, who plays Lalaji in 'Waaris', will soon quit the show after his character expires. 'Waaris', which is based on cultural issues and shows a mother bringing up a girl child as a boy, will soon take a seven-year-leap. Before that, Mukesh will leave the show after his character will die in a thrilling horseriding sequence featuring the actor. "It was a great experience working on a different show like 'Waaris' which focuses on the practices prevailing in the society such as a male child being preferred over a female child". "Also, the last scene I shot gave me chills literally, and was a very memorable experience. My exit in the show is necessary to take the story forward and I request all viewers to watch the show as it creates awareness," Mukesh, popularly known as the small screen's 'Shaktimaan', said in a statement. 'Waaris', aired on &TV, features Aarti Singh in the lead as Amba.
