Noted film producer V Sathyanarayanan of Venkateshwaralayam Production House breathed his last in Chennai Friday. Sathyanarayanan had produced several movies including Ajit's Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam, Sree starring Suriya and Prabhu Deva's Alauddin. He was the one who introduced Saran to cinema. He suffered cardiac arrest and breathed his last at his house in Chennai Friday. Among those, who visited his house to pay last respects included actors Sivakumar, Suriya, art-director Mohana Mahendran and producer-director Saran.
Sivaji shaping up well
Rajinikanth's Sivaji is shaping up well. The much talked about film being directed by Shankar for the famed AVM Productions has generated lot of expectations in the entire Tamil film industry. Bringing together big names in industry like A R Rehman and K V Anand, the movie is currently being shot in Binny Mills in Chennai. A couple of days ago, a song sequence featuring Rajinikanth was shot. Set to tunes by A R Rehman, it is supposedly a mass number. Lawrence Raghavendra is choreographing the song. Lawrence who is directing Muni took a break from the sets of Muni to be with Rajinikanth for filming the song sequence. Another grand set was erected at the Binny Mills in Chennai where a stunt sequence was also being shot. With all things going well, the shooting for Sivaji is expected to be completed.
Unnale Unnale doing well
Unnale Unnale has successfully completed 50 days. Released this Tamil New Year's day, the movie directed by cinematographer ' director Jeeva has won rave reviews and the movie shot in a slick manner is collecting good revenue. At a time when movies starring biggies themselves are struggling to draw audience to theatres, Unnale Unnale has managed a good audience. The movie stars a newcomer Vinay, a model-turned-actor, in the lead role. Also Kajol's sister Tanisha made her debut in Kollywood. Unnale Unnale's success has also revived the fortunes of Sada, who plays a prominent role in the movie. Music by Harris Jayaraj is major highlight of the movie. A thrilled Vinay says, 'Happy that Unnale Unnale has done well at the theatres. I am very cautious about choosing my roles from hereon'.
Kireedoms audio does well
Kireedom's audio, which was released a few days ago, is doing brisk sales. Set to tunes by young G V Prakash, the album has five tracks sung by the likes of Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghosal and Vijay Yesudas among others. With the movie set for release later this month, the audio's success has come as boon for the team. Kireedom stars Ajith and Trisha in the lead roles. Directed by debutant A L Vijay, the movie is produced by Sujatha Cine Arts. The movie is inspired by Malayalam hit titled the same. Vijay says, 'I am thrilled to see my film releasing this month. Hopefully it would do well at the box office'.
Prabhudeva tracks up well
The shooting for Prabhudeva's Hindi remake of 'Pokkiri' kicked of recently. Starring Salman Khan in the lead role, the movie went to floors recently. Known for his pacy work, Prabhudeva has already canned a couple of songs and a stunt sequence for the movie. The actor-cum-director will direct his next in Tamil starring Vijay. The two had earlier teamed up to render a hit in 'Pokkiri'. Also the actor-director is getting several offers to act in Telugu films. After completing his two directorial ventures, Prabhudeva will don the greasepaint again for a Telugu movie.
'Bheemaa' is doing well
'Bheemaa', according to the business circles, is doing well in all centers. The collection of this Vikram-Trisha starrer, directed by Lingusamy, is said to have crossed 20 crore mark by the end of first week. The contributions by the cast and crew of the film have been received well by both public and critics.
