The worst thing that could ever happen to an interesting subject prior to its release is an abrupt stoppage to the film's shooting and a continuous delay in the release plan. The same happened with Big B starrer 'Zamaanat' that also stars Karisma Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Vijayashanti, Anupam Kher, Ayub Khan, Sharat Saxena, Shivaji Satam and Tinu Anand. The film belongs to the drama genre and is produced and directed by S Ramanathan who gave Amitabh Bachchan one of his first hits - Bombay To Goa - and followed it up with one of his biggest flops - Mahaan! The two make a comeback with each other with 'Zamaanat' that stars Big B in a stellar role of a blind lawyer who fights a lost cause for Arshad Warsi who has been accused of a crime. The film has been in the making for numerous years but now hopefully would see the light of the day in next couple of months!
Zamaanat update - postponed again
Let's keep it short and simple. 'Zamaanat' which finally seemed to be getting ready to release early December has been postponed again. The film has now been pushed to 2007 and is expected to arrive in January. With biggies like 'Guru', 'Salaam-E-Ishq' and 'Fool & Final' already in fray for a January release and February being jam packed 'Traffic Signal', 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard', 'Namastey London', 'Shakalaka Boom Boom', 'Cash' and 'Metro', one wonders when would this film finally see the light of the day?
Common factor between 'Zamaanat', 'Rehguzar', 'Aryan' and 'Unns'
What's the common factor between 'Zamaanat', 'Rehguzar', 'Aryan' and 'Unns'? Apart from the obvious observation that each of them is slated to release in November, the other similarity in each of the flicks is that they have been heavily delayed products with number of instances when they came close to being released. 'Zamaanat' takes the cake since it has been a decade long in the making but the other three are not quite fresh too. Whether it is 'Rehguzar', 'Aryan' or 'Unns', each of them have seen their promotion beginning only to come at a sudden halt without any indication. While 'Rehguzar' is about the plight of youth who look at greener pastures for a career growth, 'Aryan' is a commercial entertainer about a boxer who finds the mission in his life whereas 'Unns' is a tale of love and infidelity.
This time around 'Zamaanat' release seems to be for sure
'Zamanaat' could take an award for being one of the most visible movies of all times in spite of not seeing a release for close to 7 years now. Ever since its filming neared completion, the promotion of this S. Ramanathan film has arrived for a few days and then vanished away silently. The trend has been on for about 5 years now. The notion is such that every time the promos come on air, one wonders if this time around the release is for sure or not. But not anymore. Come November 3rd and this film with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead is definitely arriving at the theatres. Promotion of the film has begun (yet again) and looking at the super success of Amitabh Bachchan over last few months (and years), Arshad Warsi being a part of one of the all time blockbusters [Lage Raho Munnabhai] and Karisma Kapoor's comeback eagerly awaited, one doesn't find any reason as to why 'Zamaanat' may again get postponed? Also starring Anupam Kher, Vijayashanti, Ayub Khan, Sharat Saxena, Shivaji Satam and Tinu Anand, 'Zamaanat' is a dramatic thriller and features Amitabh Bachchan in a central role that spans across 10 years.
Amitabh Bachchan is special in 'Zamaanat'
'Zamaanat' finally seems to be on a release path coming December and is turning out to be a special outing for all Bachchan fans. Not many are aware that this is the first time ever in his nearly four decade career that Big B is playing a lawyer in a film. He may have played a cop, a gangster, a business tycoon or a family patriarch in numerous films but coming on the screen as a lawyer is something that he has never done in the past. To add to that, in the film, he is also shown as visually challenged, one who reluctantly takes up the case of an innocent Arshad Warsi who has been framed after a conspiracy. How he fights this case, with Karisma Kapoor as an inspiration, takes the film to a highly dramatic finale, something which vintage Bachchan fans are bound to lap up with both hands.
Big B v/s Big B this December as 'Zamaanat' comes close to 'Babul
There are all indications that Big B starrer 'Zamaanat' may finally see the light of the day on 1st December. And it is certainly not a coincidence that 'Baabul' releases just a week later i.e. 8th December. And yes, it's absolutely fine if you choose to shrug away the information since in last 3 years, release date of 'Zamaanat' has been announced so many times that one always takes a new date with a pinch of salt. Produced and directed by veteran film maker S Ramanathan who gave Big B 'Bombay to Goa' decades back, 'Zamaanat' also stars Karisma Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Anupam Kher, Vijayashanti, Ayub Khan, Sharat Saxena, Shivaji Satam and Tinu Anand.
