Ginners start buying cotton

Member Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association and renowned ginner, Rana Saleem said that ginning units in Khanewal are purchasing cotton after getting assurance about withdrawal of withholding tax.

Talking to APP, he said the Prime Minister's special assistant, Sardar Ahmed Yar Haraj had assured ginners that government would exempt the ginners from withholding tax.

He said that the reduction in purchases was due to the ongoing rainy
season.

He dispelled the impression that middlemen were stocking cotton and said that middlemen had no facilities to stock cotton.

He criticized the local administration of PCGA and said that it could not play a proper role as it was expected from the body. Earlier, it kept mum over the situation and now calling for a strike and adopting an anti-business policy, he added. (APP)
