Ameer to be felicitated

The distinctive young director Ameer, whose film 'Paruthi Veeran' was honoured with a 'Special Mention' in 58th Berlin International film festival, will be felicitated by the 'Cinema Press Club'. The organization, a forum of film journalists in Tamil, has planned to organize a grand meeting to honor Ameer for his distinguished achievements.

The initiative by the film journalists' forum might prove to be a solace for the director, who hasn't received any notable recognition from his own industry for the honour he has received in an international forum.

It may be recalled that 'Paruthi Veeran' was also screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival last year. His earlier film 'Ram' too got an international honor by getting screened in Cyprus International Film Festival in 2006. It is about time we honoured this talented young director, who has received so many accolades at international level.

Ameer has, meanwhile, postponed his film featuring Jayam Ravi. He will start the project with Vikram after finishing his current project 'Yogi', in which he plays the lead role. His film featuring Vikram has been planned to be extensively shot in Hong Kong.
