Ananthnag versatility pays

The versatility of Ananthnag the three decades senior actor of Kannada cinema is giving him fruits when his contemporaries are sitting in the easy chair. He is increasingly in demand. One more feather in the cap of this versatile actor is that he has accepted the offer of Telugu version of 'Preethi Illadha Mele' popular Kannada television serial. It is titled as 'Manasu Chooda Tharam' that is going on air in ETV Telugu. The Kannada original has crossed 650 episodes and Ananthang in the role of Rajasekhara Hampapura has become widely popular.

Meanwhile this gem of Kannada cinema Ananthnag has decided to quit politics and this is his resolution on his reaching of 60 years. He was the minister of Bangalore Development Authority in the Janata Dal Government regime and now finds it very difficult to remain in the party as it joined hands with Congress I in forming the government and later broke its alliance.

Ananthnag is the only actor in Kannada cinema who is wanted immensely in Television and Films. For him television is very interesting not because he is popular in small screen today. He had that love when his brother late Shanker Nag made 'Malgudi Days' in the late 80's. "Appearing in five episodes of 25 minutes duration is like acting in one film for me", says Ananthnag speaking to this correspondent on the sets of his latest film 'Ganga Cauvery'. He has top rated films like 'Galipata, Aramane, Taj Mahal, Darshan starring Arjun, Sudeep starring untitled film and a few others on his hand.

"Quitting politics I would further enhance my credibility" he points firmly to a question. "That is the frustration of today's politics" he says.
