Captain proves a point

Vijayakanth's newly floated Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has emerged the key player in deciding the poll outcome in Tamilnadu securing a good percentage of votes polled. Besides, Captain himself has won the Vridachalam Assembly seat considered to be the bastion of PMK.

A cheerful Vijayakanth, on the good showing of his party said, 'our party floated only a few months ago has managed to leave an impression. It is a pleasant news for me.'

Asked about his playing spoilsport for the runner-up in over 120 constituencies, Vijayakanth said, 'people's support has enthused me. Coming days would be difficult. But we would continue our good run.

Thanking the voters in the State, his party candidates and party cadre for the good show, he said, he would take up issues concerning public life in the Assembly.

In Chennai alone, in over half-a-dozen constituencies, DMDK contestants bagged votes which spoiled the prospects of either the DMK or AIADMK candidates.

Captain entry to the Assembly marks a new beginning for an actor away from the Dravidian politics.
